From the Desk of Father Kurt Dear Parishioners

I remember when I was a young boy fishing with my dad, thinking to myself maybe I should be fishing out the other side of the boat. I must have just recently heard the Gospel that was read for this Sunday. What excitement it must have been for Peter to bring in all those fish. However, this catch meant much more to Peter than just fish. He had just placed his trust in a man that he had come to believe is his savior, and this man preformed a miracle in his sight. Peter would never be the same again, he would have no choice but to follow the man that had called him to be a fisher of men.

When I consented to becoming a Priest, I too felt compelled to listen to the call of God to become a fisher of men. When Jesus touches your soul with his love and grace it is hard not be overcome with love and a desire to do whatever he tells you. And at times takes you to places were you never expected to go. Priesthood is a beautiful calling that has brought me much joy, and I am so glad that I was chosen for this calling. I pray that other young men sitting in the boat with their fathers will here the call of Christ to come follow me.

attacked. Every year, Open Doors USA (started by Brother Andrew in 1955) releases the World Watch List – a global indicator of countries where human and religious rights are being violated, and those countries most vulnerable to societal unrest and destabilization. Please pray for our sisters and brothers in Christ who are facing persecution for their faith. Learn more at www.opendoorsusa.org.

In February and March, the diocesan Safe Environment Office will launch Keeping Our Promise Alive 3.0, a VIRTUS® online re-certification training for anyone who completed the “VIRTUS live training” in 2014 or earlier. Employees and volunteers of DOW-R parishes or schools that are due for re-certification will receive an email from VIRTUS Online with credentials to login and complete the training, which takes 30-40 minutes and can

be done at any time of the day.
