Adam Payne, Band Director   Band Director at Redwood Middle School since 1999

  Education

•  Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from California State University at Northridge

•  Master’s Degree in Conducting from Southern Oregon University

•  Winner of the Herb Alpert Scholarship Program in 1989

  Plays the saxophone and participates in the Gold Coast Wind Ensemble

   Member of the Southern California Scholastic Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA), California Band Directors Association (CBDA), and the Music Educators National Conference

  Brass & marching band instructor at Redwood and TOHS

  Section coach for Ventura County Honor Band

  Supports the band in many other ways including sound engineering (available for honor band audition recordings), band website and Facebook page

Viking Band Program  We are a performing group comprised of 4

bands and color guard:   Beginning Band

  Concert Band

  Advanced Band

  Symphonic Band

 We’ve received numerous awards   Excellent and Superior ratings at festivals

  Sweepstakes or 1st place at Fillmore, Lawndale, Burbank and Camarillo parades multiple years in a row for band and drum major

 We work with the TOHS band program   Middle School Night

  Performances

Band student requirements   Attend rehearsals and performances-

they are mandatory

  Participate in class and show up to marching practice

  Practice regularly. Practice sheets are 25% of a student’s grade! •  Time at private lessons, marching

practice, honor band rehearsals, performance rehearsals count!

Booster parents raise money to support the band

Donations make parent fundraising unnecessary   Money collected through Fair Share donations funds:

•  Music instructors

•  Music specialist

•  Instrument repairs/replacements

•  Transportation to events, event support

•  Sheet music

  Provides for 70% of the band program operating budget

  Donations are tax deductible

  Suggested donation is $155

Donations make it possible for the students to get specialized instruction and for the program to be much more than a music class

Submitting for matching funds is an easy task that can result in a great benefit to the band program!

This band program runs on the contributions made by Booster volunteers!  Many ways to lend your talents and time to help out:   Uniform fitting, washing

  Chairing or helping out at festivals

  Parades, parades, parades!

  Chaperoning

  Driving the trailer to mid-week events

  Donating supplies for events

Redwood Viking Band Uniform Agreement

There is a $52.00 cost that covers the future replacement of band uniforms. This money is held in a specific account by the District. Checks should be made out to Redwood Middle School (RMS). Please complete the bottom of this form along with your payment. Payment should be made as soon as possible, but no later than September 20, 2013, unless other arrangements have been made.

I accept responsibility for the Redwood Band uniform items which have been issued to my student. I agree to maintain these items in proper condition at all times. I agree to be financially responsible for any or all of these items if damaged, misplaced, or stolen. I guarantee the return of the above uniform parts, in good condition, before the end of the present school year. I understand that if this is not done, my student’s grades and/or yearbook will be withheld and I will be billed for the amount by CVUSD.
