Arrival of Students

• Students may begin arriving at 7:30 am.

• Please take students to the cafetorium.

• Breakfast line closes at 7:55 am.

• Students are tardy at 8:05 am.

Dismissal of Students• Students will not be released before 2:50 pm.• Please notify teacher on duty when you’re picking up your child.• Walkers will be released to the flag pole .• Car and Daycare riders will be released to the circle drive.• Bus riders will be released to the cafeteria and seated by bus number.

The number to transportation is 603-6535 They can be reached 7:00-5:00 pm. Monday thru Friday

• Students with siblings will not be allowed to pick students up from classroom. They must come to the designated area.

PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE AND YOUR TEACHER OF ANY CHANGES IN WHO CAN/ CAN NOT PICK-UP YOUR CHILD.

Check-in and Check-outs

• Students arriving late must check in through the office.

• Late check-in’s will be excused if accompanied by doctor’s excuse.

• Early Checkouts are strongly discouraged and should be limited if possible.

• 2 Plastic folders with pockets

• 1 Plastic Rest Nap (THIN blue & red)

• 1 Large towel for Nap Time

• 2 Large boxes of Kleenex

• 2 Boxes of crayons (24 count)

• 3 Packages of Construction Paper21 1 Box Gallon/ 1 Box Quart zip-lock

• 2 Bottles of Glue/ Glue Sticks

• 2 Box of Markers (8 or 12 count)

• Extra clothes (Include underwear & socks)

Student’s Uniform• Shirts

– Red, Navy Blue, White– Must have collars– Must be tucked into pants

• Pants– Khaki– Dark Blue– Can not ‘sag’ below waste

• Accessories– Must have WORKABLE belt– Tennis shoes preferred. – Sandals must have back strap

• Street clothes may only be worn on designated days.

Acceptable Snacks• You will be assigned one day each month to send a

snack. • Please choose snacks from our list. This really helps us to

stay within the guidelines set by the State for providing nutritious snacks.

• Exceptions may be made if it is your child’s birthday and you would like to send a special snack.

• Occasionally, you may be asked to bring a particular snack to coordinate with classroom activities.

• Individual juice boxes (such as Capri Sun, Juicy Juice) are best for drinks. Please try to choose juices with a high content of real fruit juice, if you can.

• We need snacks for 20 children.

Celebrations

• We will have celebrations throughout the year, your teacher will contact you for more details.

• Birthday “parties” will not be celebrated, however, your child’s birthday will be their snack day and you are encouraged to send a special treat on this day.

• Simple celebrations work best.

Fieldtrips

• Field trips give students the opportunity to have real life, hands-on experiences.

• Students must have signed permission slips to attend.

• Parents are encouraged to volunteer.

• Donations for field trips are always welcomed.

• Lunch applications must be filled out and APPOVED before August 26, 2011.

You can apply on-line at

• You will be instantly approved/disapproved.

Lunch Applications

Breakfast: $1.00 Reduced fee: $0.30

Lunch: $1.75 Reduced fee: $0.40

• Parents must pre-pay for lunch until the lunch form has been received and processed.

• Lunch money may be paid in advance weekly, monthly, or quarterly.

• THE SCHOOL DOES NOT HAVE MONEY TO LOAN FOR LUNCHES.

Medication

The following Caddo Parish Policy must be followed if a child is to take medication at school:

• Under no circumstances will medication be administered by the teacher.

• Medication should be bought to school by the parent and

taken to the school’s office. Medication should be labeled with CHILD’S NAME and accompanied by a physician’s statement with directions on administering the medication.

• Do not send any medication to school with your child. This includes cough drops.

Illnesses

• If your child is sick, keep them at home!!!

• Students should remain home at least 24 hours after a fever has passed.

Absences & Tardies

• Louisiana Law states that a student attend 160 days each school year.

• A student is subject to be removed from the program if absences become excessive.

• Our instructional day begins at 8:00 am. All students should be in their classroom at this time.

• 3 Tardies equal 1 absence and a student is subject to be removed from the program due to excessive tardies.

Attending school is a very important factor in school success. We are required toteach each subject a specific number of minutes each day. In addition, students arerequired to attend instruction for a required number of minutes in each school year.One of the requirements to keep our funding for pre-k is that thechildren be in attendance at least 90% of the month. Classroom Visits

• Parents are strongly encouraged to volunteer and visit classrooms.

• All persons must report to the office before visiting the classrooms.

• All visitors must obtain a “Visitor’s Pass” from the office to visit ANYWHERE on campus

Parent Communication

• Behavior charts and folders are sent home daily. Please sign, review and return necessary documents daily.

• Homework is sent home on Monday-Wednesday.

• Report Cards are sent home every 9 weeks.

• Teachers can only make or return calls before school, after school, and during conference periods.

Conferences

• If you desire a conference with your child’s teacher or coordinator, please call the school office 631-7121 to make arrangements.

• Teachers are not prepared for unannounced or unscheduled conferences and are not expected to conference during valuable class time.
