Dear friends:

Living Resources has been conducting its AnnualFamily Survey for over 20 years now. The answersprovided give me a truereflection of how families feelwe are doing at caring for, supporting, and helping theirloved ones to lead full andproductive lives. We justcompleted our most recentsurvey, and it is clear that we have been successful indoing our jobs. Some of thecomments that we receivedfrom families on our AnnualSurvey include: “We are sohappy with the care and lifethat Living Resources providesfor its consumers (I think familyis a better term),” and “As wecontinue to fill out these surveys, it becomes difficult to find new ways to say ‘Bravo’ and ‘Well done’.”

In reading the survey results, speaking to families, visiting with the individuals we serve and staffmembers, I feel very good about our programs andaccomplishments:

• We continue to vigorously pursue the CollegeExperience Program, a partnership with theCollege of Saint Rose. Every year we graduatestudents who receive a two year certificate andbecome independent, employed, and developfriends for life.

• Our smart house for physically disabled and elderly individuals is nearing the end of the design phase, and we will be breaking ground and begin construction within the next several months.

• In this newsletter and in our 2010 Annual Reportyou can read some wonderful stories aboutthe individuals we are honored to serve.

Recently, our agency experienced the first majorrevenue reduction by New York State. As NYS isattempting to balance its budget this year, it has made rather significant cuts to our program and to

many others statewide. Over the nextyear, our organization will be facingunprecedented financial challengesin regard to meeting needs due to thisrevenue reduction.

We are committed to continuing withthe services we presently provide as we look for more efficient ways to doall that is required of us. However, meeting the needs of people that arenot currently receiving services is a far greater challenge. I am greatlyconcerned about our ability toadvocate for families and children who are looking for services andsupport now and in the future.

We need to stick to our mission and be a true partnerin meeting the needs of the 1,237 individuals we arehelping and also to be a good employer for our 700+staff. As a mature organization established in 1974, we have accomplished many great things and havealways looked for the support of private andcommunity partners to assist us in accomplishing our mission and opening doors for individuals inneed. Ultimately, this is who we are. More than everwe need your support.

Your belief in us is demonstrated by your positivecomments and praise for our programs and services, and through your generous gifts of your time, talent, and treasure. We thank each and every one of you for being a part of our continuing success.
