In Michigan, fall is filled with apple orchards and pumpkin picking, but ZTA life is packed with recruitment and working to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Initiation If any alumnae would like to attend initiation

Nov. 12, please email our Ritual advisor, Cheryl Morey at [email protected].

Pinking Out Ann Arbor In October, our chapter participated in helping spread breast cancer awareness. We passed out ribbons at the Detroit Lions Monday Night “Crucial Catch” football game and at Michigan’s Pink Out game, hosted our third annual yogurt eating contest with over 45 teams, and hosted “Painting the Town Pink” by decorating the windows of local restaurants and other establishments!

Founders Day ZTA celebrated its 113th Founders Day on October 15, the same day Alpha Gamma celebrated its second anniversary of its recolonization bid day! Members and alumnae joined together for ritual and networking on Oct. 23 for a delayed celebration due to fall break.

A Monster Bowling Bash For our first date party of the year, chapter members dressed with their dates and came bowling for the evening! Members got creative, dressing as couples ranging from Fred and Wilma Flintstone to Batman and Robin. With bumpers optional, we quickly found out who the true bowlers were. Everyone had a great time and was a creative precursor to Halloween.

Fall Fun with ZTA Fall is a fantastic time in Michigan. From pumpkin carving to trips to the apple orchard, we have fully participated in fall activities. We hosted a haunted house fundraiser with a fraternity for middle school children, which was a huge hit! Our trip to a local apple orchard wasn’t complete without a hayride, some fresh apple cider and donuts. We also participated and won Sigma Chi’s Derby Days, winning over $300 for ZTAF!

Freshly Picked: Welcoming our 57 Fabulous New Members! Recruitment is a long, stressful process

in every chapter, but all the hard work chapter members put in culminates in a fabulous bid day celebration where we get to welcome our new members into our sisterhood. Our Membership and Recruitment chair, Amanda Waske, was able to pass the reigns to New Member Coordinator, Olivia VanSickle.

Our new members are an incredible fit in our sisterhood. The initiated members have loved getting to connect with them. Each new member was paired with a temporary White Violet sister who was her mentor for a week. This allowed them an opportunity to become

accustomed to ZTA in a relaxed setting. After five weeks of temporary White Violet sisters, the members were mutually paired as Big and Little Sisters. After a week of surprises and fraternity serenades from their Big Sisters, both sides were anxious for our Big-Little ritual reveal on Oct. 27. Our new members are going on a special retreat to bond before initiation week starts on Nov. 5. Initiation week brings Zeta Spa Alpha, a friendship ceremony and a sisterhood sleepover!

We are so excited for our new members to be formally welcomed into our sisterhood at initiation on November 12, 2011!

Alpha Gamma in the News

At the Detroit Lions Monday Night Football game, the ABC Detroit news anchors wore the ZTA pink ribbons in their pregame coverage.

Our yogurt-eating contest received coverage in the Michigan Daily, raising awareness for breast cancer and our efforts!
