T he management ensures that our religious faiths and customs are not left behind. All the festivals irrespective of religion are celebrated with great pomp and show. The endless list includes Christmas, Diwali, Onam, Ramzan-ifthar, Ayutha Pooja, Pongal, Ugadi, Vinayagar Chathurthi, Easter, Iyyappa Padi Pooja, Karthigai Deepam and Krishna Jayanthi. The customs and rituals are followed without any deviation giving us the feel and meaning of festivals. All the class rooms are equipped with LCD projectors and necessary teaching aids. The student co-operative store supplies all text books, notebooks, records, observations, drawing boards, mini-drafters etc. The stationery stores supply all drawing sheets, graph sheets, polar graph sheets, pen, pencil and other essential materials. The store which is situated in the campus provides items for day to day use. We have separate sections for printing and binding lab manuals, note book materials, mini-project reports, Inplant training reports and final year project reports at free of cost The Indian bank branches in the colleges assist the students in their financial transactions. We have two separate ATMs functioning for boys and girls. The colleges have two sophisticated Gymnasiums for boys and girls. The colleges have two beauty parlours for girls and saloon for boys. We have intercom facilities which connect everyone in the college. In the hostel, every room has intercom connections. T he Colleges give equal importance to sports as well as cultural activities. Students participate in various inter and intra college culturals. The students have won various trophies and medals in various competitions. The colleges also conduct intra college cultural competitions and Cash prizes and Merit Certificates will be distributed on the college day. C harity starts at homes; here it starts at the college. Once in a month each class goes to visit various NGOs in and around the chennai city. Apart from providing food, clothing and other amenities they also conduct various programmes to entertain the inmates. They also gain insights about their life style and understand that they are liable to do something for the underprivileged people in the society. We have a fitness centre with a qualified staff to monitor and guide the students. A qualified physician assisted by a staff nurse takes care of the sick in the college. The college orchestra comprising of our own instruments and students proves to be a platform to display the talents of upcoming musicians. Movies are screened for hostel students in the open air theatre. Free washing and ironing facility is provided for the students. We have a bakery which provides delicious items for the students. The juice stall which is attached to the campus quenches the thirst of students. The colleges have a Chapel, Mosque and a Temple (Trinity) to cater to the religious needs of our students. The colleges have fully air-conditioned library spread over a total area of 45000 / 40000 sq.ft. The Central library and the Book Bank house 2,06,447 Volumes and 29,207 Titles. The Central library has 16236 titles and 43,413 volumes whereas the Book bank has 12,920 Titles and 1,63,034 volumes. The colleges have subscribed 161 National Journals. The students can also have access to more than 3813 e-journals. There are more than 367 e-books available for ready reference. The e-resorces include IEEE, ASME, Springerlink, J-Gate, Proquest, ASTM, McGraw-Hill Access Engineering, Nature, Science Direct and Scientific American. St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and St. Joseph’s Institute of Technology under the auspices of the Trust was constituted for imparting Technical Education. Right from its inception the Colleges aim at offering Value Added Education suitable for meeting the industrial requirements in India and abroad. The Colleges are approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The courses offered are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The colleges are totally free from Ragging.

We are the first institution to introduce sports quota among all other Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Most of the colleges follow the trend of admitting students in sports Quota now.

A Separate Training and Placement Cell functions in the colleges catering to the

needs of students. The Colleges start the career development from the first semester. Placement exam is conducted for students to develop their aptitude and analytical skills. A career development program named placement orientation program (POP) is conducted in the pre final year. Apart from this the colleges conduct mock interview sessions and group discussions. The Neurolinguistic Program is conducted for the students for the overall development.

The mess is built over a spacious area of 80,000 / 70,000 sq.ft and the mess hall accommodates 1600 students at a time.

Vegetarian and non vegetarian food is prepared separately in the mess with keen attention to hygiene.

ABHS and BEC ExamThe Advisory Bureau for Higher Studies is a separate cell which takes care of all the requirements of the students for pursuing higher education in India and around the Globe. The cell conducts seminars about the various opportunities for higher studies in India and abroad and provides study materials for all competitive exams like GRE, TOEFL, CAT, JMET, and IELTS and so on.Business English Certificate (BEC) course is conducted in the colleges by the Cambridge ESOl. A Diagnostic Test is conducted and the students are placed at various levels as per their performance in the Diagnostic Test. Students Mostly fall under the Higher and Vantage levels. The students are suitably trained to take their exams in the campus conducted by the Cambridge ESOL.

Value Added courseThe Colleges encourage the students to undergo various value added courses. An exclusive Laboratory with all amenities is provided in the campus, for the hostel students to undergo the value added courses at subsidized rates. The laboratory houses all the latest equipments required for enhancing the Technical Skills of Students.

Sports is given equal weightage as academics. A sports village with a total

area of 30 Acres is dedicated for sports activities. The Sports students start their practice at 4 a.m. in the morning and 5 p.m. in the evening in flood lights. All the sports activities are encouraged by providing all the facilities when the students participate in Inter University, Intra University and other tournaments. Sports students are provided hostel accommodation free of cost. All sport students are provided sports wear & gear. The Colleges have the highest intake of Sports students in Tamil Nadu.

The exclusive Vegetarian mess halls accommodate another 600 students at a time. Hot beverages are served during break. Lunch is provided in the delicious mouth watering mess hall.
