Even though:

•  It can be unpredictable – frequent algorithm changes/codes of conduct/advertising rules etc.

•  Organic reach has declined (we’ll talk more about this!) •  It’s an investment of time - quality communities don’t pop up over

night!

So What The Heck Is Happening To My Reach?

www.lynnepeachey.com

1. Posts that solely push people to buy a product or install an app The key here is to post something your followers care about, and trust that they will make the connection between that issue or passion and your products and services.

"Pages that post promotional creative should expect their organic distribution to fall significantly over time.” (Jan 15)

2. Posts that push people to enter promotions and sweepstakes with no real context

We know that people on Facebook actually engage with contests well so this is tricky. Focus on how it benefits your audience.  3. Posts that reuse the exact same content from ads. Advertising and content marketing are very different things, and they speak to different audiences. The words, themes, and images that you would choose for a paid ad would feel awkward and impersonal in the types of organic content posts you should be sharing regularly with your followers.

The Most Important Thing About Reach

www.lynnepeachey.com

•  No other platforms tell you about reach (guess what, it’s probably not that great there either..)

•  Try to think past individual post reach and think cumulatively about your page (Insights help here)

•  The people who engage with you most are the people you want to see your posts – they are your core customer base

1.  FOCUS ON ENGAGEMENT OVER REACH Low engagement = less people see your posts Facebook is looking for people to: LIKE  your  post      COMMENT  on  your  post  SHARE  your  post,  or    CLICK  a  link  in  your  post  (if  you  include  one)   2. STOP SWEATING THE NUMBERS Better to have fewer engaged followers than hundreds who aren’t that into you! Shift your perspective!
