The Capacity Building for Biotrade (CBBT) Project is jointly im-
plemented in the three pilot countries Nepal, Peru and Namibia.
A group of essential oil producers together with representatives
from the Trade Export Promotion Centre (TEPC) and the German
International Cooperation (GIZ) represent the project outputs
from Nepal.
Activities in the run up to the Biofach participation included the
assessment of market potential for Nepalese biodiversity-based
products. Both the supply and demand side for selected essen-
tial oil products were analyzed regarding potentials and obsta-
cles for market integration. In a participatory approach, three
training modules were conducted on quality assurance, control
and sustainability of the products. A group of producers formed
and committed to a joint approach with regard to the participa-
tion in the trade fair based on clearly defined company- as well
as group-based marketing strategies. This joint approach as well
as the link with a newly introduced label «Nepal Essential Oils»
has been documented in a joint project brochure.

In 2003, Roda Selva launched its RODA Omega Oil project
to produce an organic and conventional vegetable oil by cold
pressing the seeds of the sacha inchi, a native plant of the
Peruvian Amazon rainforest.
Working with farmers of the San Martin Region, they have built
an industrial plant to process the seeds from their plantations.
After a careful analysis of the raw materials, seeds are selected
to identify those with the highest content of premium quality oil.
Roda Selva is proud to claim having developed one the best
sacha inchi oils with the highest quality and flavor. The process-
ing plant in Tarapoto is organic certified by Control Union (Skal).
Their sales are increasing in domestic and foreign markets
