2018 ReviewOutreach/Tours/Interns
• FAME members continue to sponsor numerous company tours, co-ops and internships, promoting advanced manufacturing careers to well over 400 students, teachers, counselors, and parents in 2018.
• Nine FAME members hosted 69 student interns and co-ops during 2018, and FAME members have employed close to 700 interns and co-ops in the past five years.
• Hailing from high schools, community colleges, and four year colleges, these workers have the benefit of learning on-site and will be future assets to our workforce pipeline.
• FAME is an active participant in Finger Lakes Works With Their Hands and numerous other career fairs and manufacturing events throughout the year.
• FAME members have supported US FIRST LEGO teams for the last ten years, and have sponsored 37 different middle school teams for competition.
2018 Review SAME 2018 – Two great locations served over 25 students!
• SAME (Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience) continues to grow and thrive in our region!
• Offered at WFL BOCES and Monroe 2 BOCES in July 2018.
• All participating students (9th and 10th graders), had the opportunity to experience first-hand advanced manufacturing skills and earn 3 free college credits through MCC.
• East side tours (Williamson and Flint students) included GW Lisk, Harbec, Optimax Systems, and OptiPro Systems – graduates pictured at right.
2018 ReviewSAME 2018
• SAME’s west-side program graduated 8 students, pictured at right. The graduation ceremony was held at MCC’s Applied Technology Center.
• Students toured Micro Instruments, SPX Flow, Rotadyne, Optimax Systems, OptiPro Systems, and MCC’s Applied Technology Center.
• New online application process for SAME 2019 should yield more students.
