institution might

distribute your media

product and why?

As I cannot distribute my film independently

I would need to rely on a bigger well known

film company to produce my film. I have

decided to look at 3 key areas to help me

decide on a film company;

★The ‘Big 4’

★Indpendent film companie

★Which film company have produced the

most thrillers

THE ‘BIG 4’

At the beginning of the 20th century

several American film production

companies had evolved. They have a

very considerable fortune and they

have their own film studios, distribution

divisions, theatres etc. They are named

the ‘Big 4’ and they are:

20TH CENTURY FOX

MGM

PARAMOUNT

WARNER BROS

I did not feel that these were

appropriate for the type of film I

have produced, so I then decided to

look at independent film companies

INDEPENDENT

Independent film companies appear

when they are funded with less than 50%

of the money that came from from one of

the major film studios. Independent film

distribution companies can offer a decent

deal for independent films that do well at

film festivals.

After looking at several independent

film companies I decided that these

were not appropriate for the type of

film I produced. So then I started to

think about which film company had

produced the most successful

thrillers.

HAMMER FILM PRODUCTIONS

This is my ideal film company I would like

to distribute my for many reasons. The

company is best known for horrors and

thriller so my film fits into the category

perfectly. As they are an independent film

company but are still very well known I

feel that they are the most appropriate

company to distribute my film.
