Characters: Our main character is a young girl (Ella). In the intro she kills the teacher (Siobhan). This is very similar to the start of Kill, Baby Kill! In which a young girl kills a woman in the opening 3 minutes.

Ella (left) has gone for a typical young girl look. She has her hair in bunches as has ribbons in her hair as well. She is wearing pink dress and carrying a doll. All this connotes a stereotypical innocent young girl. She is wearing white face paint and has black eyes, this connotes she is not normal and adds a scary aspect to her

Later on it the movie (Kill Baby Kill) the girl is revealed as a ghost. We had the same plan of our child murderer being in a ghost, which also would be revealed later in film. That was why we set our film in a school.

Techniques: Throughout our introduction we use many CCTV clips. This makes the film modern, which our target audience can relate too. Using CCTV was also used by Paranormal Activity. That was what made them as popular as they are.

The fact CCTV is used makes the audience feel they are watching something live. It also makes the audience feel they are seeing something that you can’t but with a sense of realism.

Titles: In our film we used similar titles to the ones from The Grudge. During our research we concluded these were the most effective titles.

We have used the same colours because we feel they connote horror perfectly. The red writing connotes blood and danger, whilst the black background connotes darkness and night.

The red and black titles are used in other films such as the omen in which the black shadow of the boy is against the red light.

Music: We use the nursery rhyme ring a ring o’roses as are title music. Many films uses nurserys songs, or well known songs. This is because it attracts the audiences attention straight away because it contrasts with the films.

In Rosie we used ring a ring o’roses because it is a traditional nursery rhyme stereotypical with children. We recorded it ourselves with Ella singing it but adding effects to make it sound more eerie. As Ella’s character is a little girl we believed using nursery rhyme would be the best idea. Also as the film is called Rosie we used a song which is similar to the title. The lyrics “We All Fall Down” go perfectly with the film. This is because it has a double meaning, the original rhyme meaning, as well as death or murder.

Films such as nightmare on elm street use their own created nursery rhymes, as well as identity. This shows that nursery rhymes are a successful part of certain horror films.
