Balanced power transformers have their ground separated from phase and neutral by 60 volts. Neutral and ground cannot be bonded and common

mode voltage is not eliminated. Balanced power transformers are primarily designed to eliminate 60 Hz. hum. They are not intended for

So What Does This Mean to Digital Equipment?

• Digital Equipment is very sensitive• Digital communication is a sequence of 1’s and

0’s• The slightest variance could cause a Errors,

causing No Fault Found service calls• Digital Takes a Reference Point from Ground

– If Noise is present on Ground, the reference is corrupted and errors result.
