A Guide to Programme Error/Warning Messages

This guide aims to help you understand the information and terminologydisplayed on your error/warning messages page on PIP.

The responsibility for the content of your programme lies with you and so it isimportant that you notice and act on the messages the Universitys computersystem generates for your benefit. Your programme of study is checked by thecomputer system against the rules for your course/subject and modules. From thechecks the computer system performs, a programme summaryis generated and ifany problems are identified, error messages too. If you do have any errormessages, details of these errors are displayed via links at the top and bottom of

your Records & Results page on your PIP. You should take these errors seriouslyas failure to correct an error may mean you will not be able to achieve your awardat the normal time or possibly at all.

In addition to using this guide, you may also find it useful to refer to the regulations/ guides listed below during your study at Oxford Brookes:

Undergraduate Modular Programme Regulations and Glossary

    UMP Student Guide

    Postgraduate Taught Programme Regulations

Make sure you discuss your error/warning messages with your Academic Adviserand Student Support Coordinator(s) as soon as possibleand keep a note ofwhat action is agreed.

Some of the common messages and the appropriate action to take are givenbelow. This section has been split in two showing information forUndergraduate Modular Programme (UMP) students and then for non UMP(e.g. Postgraduate) students:

Important: Do NOT ignore error/warning messages on your record asthey indicate that your programme of study is incorrect and/orincomplete. You will not be able to graduate unless you have completed

the correct modules and the correct number of modules for your award.
