The class of ‘79 had many students whose potential was never measurableduring the life at Dow . They were not dazzling personalities academically orotherwise. From the rank of middling and pedestrians they started their carriersand rose to implausible heights.

Khalid Manzur was tall, smart, but was a low key and a bashful personality whonever tried to attract limelight out during college days. He lived in hostel No. 2 andwas a branded mess secretary by virtue of his organizational prowess. He wasfriendly to Mumtaz Cheema, Amirul Haq Khan (and Burhan of the Class of ‘80).

Life dawned on Khalid on an optimistic note when he moved to US in 1981 as atrailblazer from the class. In a few years time he did residency in pediatrics and internalmedicine earning two board certifications. He had a marathon stay of about 15 yearsin New York where he excelled in his private practice with high credentials.

Adding feathers to his academic resume, he completed MBA and MPH from theUniversity of Southern Florida. With a thriving clinical practice in New York he moved toOrlando, Florida with his family. It took out six years to settle down professionally inOrlando. He commuted by air between Orlando and New York from 1996-2002.

He would fly on Sunday night from New York and come back to Orlando on Thursdayevening for weekends with the family. By the year 2002 he settled in Orlando on a full-time basis and since then could not find a chance to look back.

On the family front his wife Naghma is a Fatima Jinnah Medical College graduate. Shenever practiced Medicine in USA but has been immensely instrumental in raising twobrilliant sons, Murtuza and Mustafa, currently doing graduate studies at Cornell and NewYork University.

Khalid Manzur is still very lively and time less and is a glowing example to prove thatevery human is endowed with an aptitude. It is just the suitable milieu that brings outthe best of the secreted flairs.

Nice write up on Khalid Manzur -- with relevant photographs as well, which must require a lot of effort.Congratulations Khalid Manzur for acquiring so many degrees and credentials.Khalid Manzur lived in the room next to Kosar (and mine). It was trouble free life, probably his presence and Dadagiri kept general trouble away. Best wishes to you Khalid.Javaid Yousuf

Shoaib, thanks for another hidden gem.

Janab Khalid Manzoor Sahib, congratulations on being the POW. Impressed with you hard work and perseverance. It is unfortunate that we didn't hook up while I was in New York. I landed there after you, Rakla and Farooq Habib. I am glad you are settled now for good in Florida. I remember our days in the hostel. We will connect one day...a easy way is to start right here on the forum. All the best.Bashir

Congratulations on being the personality of week and your many achievements. You have done well by all counts.Last met you in Karachi a number of years ago, albeit briefly, you hadn't changed much and still are very recognisable, no need for old photos. As a neighbour in Hostel 2, you were very good to the likes of me. Take care and all the best.Hasan
