Shahida did her intermediate from PECHS College for women. While in Dow herclose companions were Salma Sadiq Ali and Humaira Jameel. She movedwithin a close circle. She was the sister of the then very renowned judge ofSindh High court. Chief Justice Abdul Hafez Memon was reckoned as a highprofile person and a praiseworthy judge.

Other popular relations were her sister Professor Khursheed Memon andbrother in law Professor Imdad Baluch. Both were on the faculty of Dow inthose times. Madam Khursheed was an immaculately dressed lady, had herown flair and panache with a soft sweet mannerism of speech. She was apopular teacher among the students by virtue of the fact that she never showedany oppression or coerce.

Prof Baluch, by contrast was disciplined, always ensured that his presencewas felt, a forceful person, but very forthcoming, gracious and jovial to studentswho drew close to him. Shahida did her graduation keeping a low key. She didher house job in medicine with the elder sister and joined the Medical corps inthe armed forces.

She served at Combined Military Hospital Malir and Karsaz for three years. Oncompleting the tenure with armed forces she acquired a diploma inDermatology from Vienna and started practice in Gulshan and Clifton, the eastand the south of Karachi. Ever since the Clifton clientele has grown in dimensionshe has quit Gulshan and is just contended with the Clifton practice.

Shahida got married to Aftab Lodhi who has been serving as attaché to manymany Governors of Sindh since time immemorial. Uzma and Sanam, theirdaughters did MBA from IBA and had blissful married lives in Doha and Karachirespectively. Shahida has maintained herself very ardently. To this day the signsof age are difficult to scan.

In a very brief conversation with you, I learned you are genuine and upfront, a quality I admire in a person.I will tell you, next time we meet, what you said that showed those qualities.
