Biography Nicholas Charles Sparks (born December 31,

1965), Omaha, Nebraska, United States is an

internationally bestselling American novelist and

screenwriter. He has an older brother Michael

Earl

Sparks and a younger sister Danielle Sparks who

died at the age of 33. Sparks has said that she is

the inspiration for the main character in his novel

A Walk to Remember.

He has 16 published novels, with themes

including cancer, death, pirates, and love. Seven

have been adapted to film, including Message in a

Bottle, A Walk to Remember, The Notebook,

Nights in Rodanthe, Dear John , The Last Song

and The Lucky One. Sparks lives in North

Carolina with his wife and their three sons and

twin daughters.

narrator of the book .

The story begins with a prologue from landon

carter at 57 years old. He is standing around his

house. At that time is april 12 in the last year

before millenium and he glanced around. He cant

deny that he remembered his past filled with

sadness and joy. He close his eyes and the years

begin to move in the reverse, slowly ticking

backward.

His name is Landon Carter . he lives in theSmall religious town of Beaufort, North Carolina.

Landon's father is a congressman who spends

most of his life in Washington, D.C., and is a

stranger to his son.

Landon's grandfather was as a bootlegger and

banker during the Great Depression. He also built

the Carter family fortune by taking the rights of the

poor. One of Grandfather Carter's employees was

Reverend Sullivan, who still have been hatred

against the Carters.

Reverend Sullivan's wife died during childbirth,and he has taken care of his daughter, Jamie,

on his own. Jamie is excluded by her classmates

because of her strength in religion, unattractive

clothes and hairstyle, and often help others.

Although Landon has known Jamie most of his

life as classmates and fellow church members

only but they'd just had a few conversations in

other words not familiar.

Early in his senior year, Landon is elected to be

a student president and must attend the dance

party. At that time,landon doesnt have any

ideas,so Landon invites Jamie as his partner.

Some weeks later, Jamie asks Landon to play

a character in the Christmas drama. Jamie herself

has already been cast as the angel. Landon

agrees it. They begin to spend time together

and have many conversations. Landon finally

know that Jamie's only goal in her life is to get

married with the present of many people in thechurch . He is especially surprised that she does

not plan to Attend a college.

Because of all their togetherness,landon

ridiculed by his friends and he bursts out angrily

at Jamie the night before the dramaperformance. It makes jamie hurt. Landon

apologizes the next morning before the

drama.he holds her hand during the apology.

The drama is a success and Landon is

shocked by how beautiful Jamie with her whitedress. Shes also using makeup and taken her

long hair out of a bun and let it fall past her

shoulders.

they become closer since the drama

ended. A week before christmas eve,Jamie

asks Landon to help her collect the bottles and

cans because she has set out in a donation

drive to buy presents for the orphans.

With this decision to help Jamie and the

orphans in this way, Landon surprises himself.

Jamie buys gifts for the orphans and invites

Landon to the orphanage Christmas party; while

there, landon is surprised by how beautiful she

looks; he cannot take his eyes off her. Landon

soon realizes he has fallen in love with Jamie.

Landon invites Jamie to eat Christmasdinner at his house. After that, he asks Jamie

whether he can begin seeing her regularly. She

agrees. The next day, they kiss for the first time,

and they begin dating. When Landon tells Jamie

that he loves her, she realizes that she must tellhim her illness: She is dying because of

leukemia and has only a few months to live.

Landon feels so shocked, but he try to

overcome his fear and sadness and begins to

pray for a miracle. His prayers lead him tosearch for a response in his heart that there is

something for him to do. Landon soon discovers

that purpose and asks Jamie to marry him, even

in her weakness. She agrees, and just like in her

vision of her wedding day. Jamie's slow, painful

walk down the aisle is called, "a walk to

remember."

In the last chapter of the novel, 57-year-old

Landon reflects on the 40 years that have

passed since his wedding to Jamie. He still loves

her and hasnt removed his wedding ring in allthose years. When he admits that he now

believes in miracles, the readers are left to think

with the ending: Did Jamie die, or did a miracle

save her life?

had really touched everyones heart about the

true nature of love. This book teaches us a

lesson that with love and support you can go

through anything. We will recommend that
