Contemporary dance is definitely my favourite style to both perform and watch. It provides such a vast and challenging movement vocabulary that no other style of dance allows for – there are basically no limits to what can be created and inspiration can be drawn from anything, big or small. As an audience member it is exciting because you never know what you are about to witness, the music is almost always awesome, and you can be exposed to any emotion under the sun in 60 minutes. WHAT IS YOUR PRE-PERFORMANCE RITUAL? I change my pre-show routine to suit whatever work I am performing in at the time, but I always like to start my preparations by doing my make-up, followed by a good physical warm-up that gets the blood pumping and wakes up my muscles. I then like to find a corner to myself, put my ipod in and stretch lots, while going over things I need to remember for the show and getting mentally in the zone – as that is equally as important and being physically ready to perform. Then I go do my hair and put my costume on, and it’s show time! LAST SONG YOU LISTENED TO ON YOUR IPOD? “Hey Love” by Quadron WORDS TO LIVE BY? I was given a card once that said “Keep true to the dreams of thy youth” – it’s something that has seemed to have stuck with me. THE PIANISTAt the peak of high society entertainment sits The Pianist’s pianist. Impeccable in every aspect he glides graciously through life never placing a foot out of step. He is, in a word: perfection. Or at least... that’s what he thinks.

This hilarious work is centred on, in, under, and around one of the most magnificent of all musical instruments; the grand piano. The Pianist is a solo comic contemporary circus piece which mixes classic and contemporary clowning. Thomas Monckton plays the pianist whose recital is an absolute catastrophe from the beginning. He is so focused on impressing everyone that before he realises it, his show has transformed into absolute chaos!

Audiences, from the youngest to the oldest, will shriek as everything that can go wrong goes wrong – hard and fast!
