1960 EMHC IBA, PIONEER OF CHANGE Although the Ministry started in 1984, the Extra Ordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (EME) was formally established as an organization on Sept. 29,1999 with the ratification of its constitution and By-Laws by 29 members, including this writer. Twenty seven years years later,EME is now called Extra-Ordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion (EMHC) , the more appropriate term according the Church authorities. Past Presidents of the EMHC includes Bro.Joel Montehermoso, Bro Alfredo Mendoza, Bro. Samuel Calimlim and presently, Bro. Victorino Guevarra. Guided by its constitution and By-Laws, the EMHC of St. Augustine Parish for the last two (2) years has instituted reforms in the renewal of EMHC using the attendance of EMHC in the Monthly meeting and Holy Hour as the major basis. Those who failed to attend for at least three (3) times in the meeting in the Holy Hour, will be called by the Parish Priest to explain his side before he can be recommended to attend for renewal seminar. Since the adoption of this policy, the attendance of EMHC member in the meeting and holy hour gradually increased and strong commitment was shown in the Sunday Eucharistic service,bible service. And communion of the sick service of the EMHC, said Bro. Vic Guevarra, President of the EMHC of St. Augustine Parish. The Monthly meeting of EMHC is held every fourth Sunday of the Month, while the Holy Hour is done every first Thursday before First Friday of the every month. The Holy Hour is being done to deepen and strengthen the faith of the Ministers. For a change,the EMHC of st. Augustine also initiated the first San Andres vicariate sports Festival and fellowship on Dec. 28, 2012, participated by EMHC from Botolan,Iba,Masinloc and Sta. Cruz.

EMHC members engaged themselves in basketball, volleyball, lawn tennis, tug of war, chess, dama and entertainment with the singing EMHC challenge. EMCH Botolan was declared the overall champion.

The EMHC believes that aside from nurturing our spiritual body, it is also equally important to nourish our physical body so we can live our faith with joy and greater confidence. (Bro. Noli Basul)
