    Εὐλογηµένος ὁ ἐρχόµενος ἐν ὀνόµατιΚυρίου.

    God is the Lord, and He revealed Himselfto us. Blessed is he who comes in the name ofthe Lord. [SAAS]

    Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξοµολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνοµα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ.

    Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and callupon His holy name.

    ἤ· Ἐξοµολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ, ὅτι ἀγαθός,ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ.

    or: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; forHis mercy endures forever.

    When You descended unto death, O Lordwho yourself are immortal Life, then did Youmortify Hades by the lightning flash of YourDivinity. Also when You raised the dead fromthe netherworld, all the Powers of the heavenswere crying out: O Giver of life, Christ ourGod, glory to You. [SD]

    When he took down Your immaculateBody from the Cross, the honorable Josephwrapped it in a clean linen shroud with spicesand laid it for burial in a new tomb. But on thethird day You arose, O Lord, and granted theworld Your great mercy. [SD]

    µνῆµα ἐπιστάς, ὁ Ἄγγελος ἐβόα· Τὰ µύρατοῖς θνητοῖς ὑπάρχει ἁρµόδια, Χριστὸςδὲ διαφθορᾶς ἐδείχθη ἀλλότριος, ἀλλὰκραυγάσατε· Ἀνέστη ὁ Κύριος, παρέχων τῷκόσµῳ τὸ µέγα ἔλεος.

    The Angel standing at the sepulchercried out and said to the ointment-bearingwomen: The ointments are appropriate formortal men, but Christ has been shown tobe a stranger to decay. So go and cry aloud,The Lord has risen and granted the world Hisgreat mercy. [SD]

    Not quitting the immaculate bosom inthe highest, for all You accepted burial andresurrection. Glory to You, O Lord. [SD]

    Καὶ νῦν. Θεοτοκίον. Both now. Theotokion.Πάντα ὑπὲρ ἔννοιαν, πάντα

    All surpassing every thought, allsurpassing glorious, O Theotokos, are yourmysteries. For while bearing the seal of purityand preserved in virginity, you were deemeda Mother in truth, for to the true God yougave birth. To Him pray fervently, entreatingHim to save our souls. [SD]

    καὶ τὸ µνῆµα κενὸν θεασσάµεναι, τοῖςἈποστόλοις ἔλεγον· Τὴν φθορὰν καθεῖλενὁ κραταιός, καὶ τοὺς ἐν Ἅδῃ ἥρπασε τῶνδεσµῶν· κηρύξατε παῤῥησίᾳ· ὅτι ἀνέστηΧριστὸς ὁ Θεός, δωρούµενος ἡµῖν τὸ µέγαἔλεος.

    The women came with ointments veryearly in the morning, and they saw that thetomb was empty. Then they went and told theApostles, "The Mighty One has overpoweredcorruption, and He has rescued those whowere bound in Hades. Proclaim it openly, thatChrist God has risen, granting us His greatmercy." [SD]

    Τὰ µύρα τῆς ταφῆς σου, αἱ γυναῖκεςκοµίσασαι, λαθραίως πρὸς τὸ µνῆµαπαρεγένοντο ὄρθριαι, τῶν Ἰουδαίωνδειλῶσαι τὴν αὐθάδειαν· καὶ στρατιωτῶνπροορῶσαι τὴν ἀσφάλειαν· ἀλλὰ φύσιςἀσθενὴς τὴν ἀνδρείαν ἐνίκησεν· ὅτι γνώµησυµπαθὴς τῷ Θεῷ εὐηρέστησε· προσφόρωςοὖν ἐκραύγαζον· Ἀνάστα Κύριε, βοήθησονἡµῖν, καὶ λύτρωσαι ἡµᾶς, ἕνεκεν τοῦὀνόµατός σου.

    The women purchased ointments forYour burial, and they came to Your tombvery early in the morning. They feared theJudeans' overt hostility, and envisioned thesoldiers' guard of security. And yet their weaknature prevailed over manliness, for theirsympathetic sentiments were pleasing to God.So opportunely they shouted, "Arise, O Lord,and help us; and deliver us for Your name'ssake."     You are supremely glorified, O VirginTheotokos; we sing your praise. For by meansof your Son's crucifixion has Hades beenoverthrown and death itself has died. Wehave risen, who once were dead, and havebeen made worthy of life. We received theoriginal enjoyment of Paradise. And thereforewith thanksgiving we send up glory to Christour God because He is powerful and alonevery merciful. [SD]

    When the hosts of the Angels saw howYou were accounted among the dead, theyall marveled. You, O Savior, are the One whodestroyed the might of death; and when Youarose You raised Adam with yourself andfrom Hades liberated everyone. [SD]

    "Why do you mingle the ointments withyour tears full of pity, O women disciples?"Thus the Angel who was shining in the tombcried to the myrrh-bearing women. "See foryourselves the empty tomb and understand,that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher."[SD]

    When the myrrh-bearing women hadcome with their spices to Your sepulcher,O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angelclearly speaking to them, "Why do youaccount among the dead the One who lives?For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher."[SD]

    We bow down in worship to the Fatherand His Son and the Holy Spirit, the HolyTrinity, one in essence; and we cry aloud withthe Seraphim: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, OLord. [SD]

    After the Passion, O Christ God, thewomen went to the tomb to anoint Yourbody, and they saw Angels in the sepulcher,and they were amazed. For they heard themsaying that the Lord has risen and granted theworld the great mercy. [SD]
