Mr. Dave Seter Yerington Monthly Report August 7, 2015 Page 2 of 4

July 2015 Activities - Continued

Site Security and O&M Activities - Continued • Approximately 40,863 gallons of solution were pumped from the leak detectors in July including

10,061 gallons from the VLT Heap Leach Pad (HLP) and 4,553 gallons from the VLT Sediment Pond, and 23,793 gallons from the Slot (HLP) perimeter collection ditch. Approximately 212,507 gallons of solution have been pumped from the leak detectors since January 1, 2015. See attached monitoring data.

• Implemented the hydraulic (fill) testing plan on July 14 for FMS Evaporation Ponds B and C. Because the Godwin pump that was used to pump fluids from the VL T Pond lost suction with decreasing pond levels during the test, pumping of fluids from the C Pond was initiated.

• Re-calibrated pond level pressure transducers and implemented a more frequent cleaning and calibration check during the fill testing.

Site Characterization Activities • Site-wide monthly groundwater elevation measurements for July were obtained July 22-23 for

new wells and wells outfitted with pressure transducers. • A Pit Lake water elevation of 4,234.0 feet amsl was recorded on July 22, 2015 from the pressure

transducer, an increase of less than 0.1 feet since June 22, 2015. The pit lake elevation has risen 2.0 feet since July 22, 2014.

• No changes to the Bottled Water Program. • No changes to the Domestic Well Monitoring Program. • Transmitted the 1 Q 2015 Domestic Well Monitoring Report to EPA on July 24. • Continued the compilation of data for inclusion in the 1 Q 2015 Groundwater Monitoring Report

(GMR) and the 20 2015 Domestic Well Monitoring Report (DWMR). • Transmitted the Background Groundwater Water Quality Assessment (BGQA - Revision 2) to

EPA on July 2. • Continued preparation of the revised Geochemical Characterization DSR and geochemical

modeling of groundwater quality data. • Drilling and zonal sampling continued at B/W-63. Seven zonal samples were collected during

July. ARC received EPA input and approval to install six (S, I, D1, D2, D3, and D5) permanent monitor wells at the B/W-63 cluster. B/W-63D5 was installed and drilling started on B/W-63D3.

• Improved well head and surrounding ground surface repairs around MW-5S and B/W-65. • Transmitted OU-4a geotechnical and groundwater data to EPA and other project stakeholders on

July 20. Geotechnical and groundwater locations that were drilled and/or sampled were surveyed by Tri-State Surveying on July 21- 23.

• Transmitted DQOs and the CSM for the Wabuska Drain (OU-7) RI to EPA on July 14. Participated in a conference call with EPA and other project stakeholders to discuss the DQOs and the CSM for OU-7 on July 26.

• Routine database management activities in support of Site investigations and monitoring.

Planned August/September 2015 Activities

Site Security and O&M Activities • Continue routine Site O&M, security and bird deterrent activities. • As needed, meet with EPA and NDEP to discuss any outstanding Arimetco FMS issues. • Continue hydraulic (fill) testing of FMS Evaporation Ponds B and C.

Site Characterization Activities • Continue groundwater elevation and pit lake level measurements, and meteorological monitoring. • Continue the Bottled Water Program. • Continue to compile groundwater and domestic well monitoring data for inclusion in the 20 2015

GMR and DWMR. Once completed, transmit the 1 Q 2015 GMR.

Planned August/September 2015 Activities • Continued

Site Characterization Activities • Continued • Conduct the 3Q 2015 groundwater monitoring event August ~21. • Conduct the 3Q 2015 domestic well event September 14-17. • Transmit the 1Q 2015 GMR to EPA. • Continue discussions with EPA regarding the proposed parameter reduction list for routine

quarterly groundwater sampling, and initiate discussions to reduce the scope af quarterly monitoring report contents for the domestic well and groundwater monitoring programs.

• Continue drilling, zonal sampling and monitor well installation activities at the BIW-63 well cluster. • Continue discussions with EPA regarding the OU-1 and OU-3 Human Health Risk Assessments. • Continue working on responses to comments from EPA dated March 18 on the Process Areas

(OU-3) Step-Out Characterization DSR, and the development af a Process Areas RI Report starting with a scoping discussion with EPA

• Prepare and transmtt a phased Fleld Sampling and Analysis Plan based on the DQOs and CSM for the Wabuska Drain (OU-7).

• Initiate \VOik on the OU-1 RI Report, and continue discussions with EPA and NDEP regarding the development of remedial action objectives (RAOs) and potential remedial attematives forOU-1.

• Initiate the development of a Bedrock Groundwater Assessment Technlcal Memorandum. • Prepare for and attend OU-1 and OU-4 technical meetings on August 5 and 6, respectively. • Prepare for and attend a Yerington Community Meeting on August 6.
