In 600 BC Greeks discovered static electricity byrubbing wool against amber which would attract

objects.

 Amber is the common name for fossil resin or tree sapthat is appreciated for its inherent and interesting

mixture of colors and it is widely used for themanufacture of ornamental objects. Although notmineralized, it is sometimes considered and used as agemstone. Most of the world's amber is in the range of30 –90 million years old. Semi-fossilized resin or sub-

fossil amber is called copal.
