The Shell Questacon Science Circus will be holding a Pop-Up Science Centre on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October at Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC). Visitors of all ages can enjoy over 40 interactive science exhibits and watch spectacular science shows as Science Circus pre- senters lie on a bed of nails and levitate beach balls. Come any time between 10am and 3pm. Tickets are only available at the door: adult $6, child/concession $5, family $18 and children under 5 are free. Esther was nominated in recognition of her mentorship towards her peers and the kindness and respect she shows to adults and fellow students. Esther was also able to visit the Sydney War Memorial where our soil sample is interred. Halloween Disco The SRC have organised a disco on Thursday, 31st October at Dungowan Hall. There will be an entry fee of $5 which will cover a BBQ tea and popper. We have invited students from Woolomin and Nundle to join us. The disco starts at 6pm with a BBQ tea and finishes at 8pm. Remembrance day We will be holding a Remembrance Day Ceremony at school on Monday, 11th November. I will send out more details when they are finalised. Please return awards A reminder to the recipients of the awards from last year to return their trophies to the school in preparation for this years Presentation Night. Year 6 Photos Year 6 are reminded to bring in their precious photos to be used for a slideshow at their farewell on Monday, 16th December. Waste Free Wednesday Our SRC have organised Waste free Wednesday. They will be selling frozen fruit iceblocks and encouraging everyone to use containers and not plastics for the day. Headlice Please make sure that you are continually checking for Head lice. Unfortunately they are a part of life and this time of year when the weather warms up they seem to be particularly worse. I have heard that tea tree or lavender oil can be used as a deterrent. Christmas Raffle We will be running a Christmas raffle which will be drawn on Presentation Night. We have been given a few vouchers and items already but we are very grateful for any other donated items to add to the prizes. I will send out raffle tickets next week for students to sell. Tennis Coaching We have commenced tennis coaching, using our Sporting Schools Grant. Jarrod Campbell will be delivering the program each Wednesday until the 20th November. Students are asked to wear their sports uniform on Wednesday. Nundle Bursary The bursary will be held at Nundle Public School on Thursday, 21st November. The bursary is open to Year 6 students to compete for an annual bursary of $600 per year. Students are required to sit an exam with both literacy & numeracy questions followed by a writing task.
