Welcome to week 3 Term 2,
This week we are very pleased to have all students returning at least 2 days each
week. Students will be assigned work to complete on the days that they are not at
school. This will continue until we return to fulltime face-to face teaching for all
students. The schedule will be shared on our Facebook page each week so that
students know what days they are scheduled to attend. It is important that stu-
dents bring along their work packs when attending school.
Student Attendance—the following will be recorded against students absences from school:
F – Students at home engaged in learning.
A – There is no evidence of students completing work therefore students are on unapproved leave.
S – Parents advise the school that their child is sick and not able to attend school and therefore unable to
complete work.
From 11 May 2020 when all students are able to return for at least one day on the school site, if a parent
does not wish to send their child to school preferring them to continue to learn from home, and there is
evidence of this, the students attendance will still be marked as ‘F’.
Please note: Students should not physically attend school if they have flu-like systems, a fever or ongo-
ing cough (or otherwise sick)
Visitors to school—The Department of Education advises that parents should drop off and pick up their
child/ren from the school gate. At this stage we should not have parents entering the school playground.
All parents are also advised to maintain social distancing by avoiding gathering outside the school gates.
We will keep parents and community members informed as this policy changes.
School Canteen—the canteen has reopened. There are limited items available at recess and only lunches
which have been pre-ordered will be available. Students will be required to maintain social distancing
when at the school canteen.
Enhanced Cleaning—all schools have an additional 25 percent of cleaning hours each day. Bathrooms and
high touch areas will be cleaned during the day. Water bubblers will be cleaned after recess and lunch.
TAS Teacher—unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Mr John Singleton was unable to continue in his
temporary position at Dunedoo Central School. We will again advertise for a replacement teacher. In the
meantime, Mr Daniel Lane and Mrs Belinda Fergusson will be covering these classes. We will be providing
extra support from personnel to assist students with their Major Design Projects.
Yr 12 Reports—Mid Year Reports were issued to Year 12 last Friday. Interviews will be conducted this Fri-
day 15th May with Mrs Gallagher, Mrs Fergusson and myself. Parents are invited to attend these inter-
views. Parents will be contacted for a possible time-slot.
Please contact the school if you have an questions or concerns in regard to your child’s learning.
Have a great week.

Week 3 introduces the next phase towards return to school, and it was so nice to see almost all of the stu-
dents in years 2, 5 and 6 back at school today. Teachers are looking forward to the two days with their
class, and catching up on how students have managed with their home learning activities. Check the time-
table below to see when your child is required to attend this week and next week.
Staff and students have had to be very creative with classroom seating, as well as playground, fitness and
sports activities, to ensure there is no contact between students. Some children are finding this challeng-
ing, and we ask that parents support us in reinforcing the need to maintain personal distance and hands
off each other. Enhanced cleaning practices are in place, and students are regularly reminded to wash
hands with soap and/or are provided with sanitiser when entering learning areas.
Thank you to parents who have assisted us in keeping students safe, particularly in obeying new rules re-
questing that students are to be dropped off and collected from outside the school gate. If you need to
communicate with the school, or drop items off for your child, you may do so via the front office.
If you have decided to make alternative arrangements for your child’s learning, please notify the school so
that attendance records can be updated. This also includes if your child is unwell and unable to complete
home learning activities. Don’t forget, your child’s teacher can assist with any questions or concerns you
may have in regards to your child’s learning, and I encourage you to seek support if required.
Have an enjoyable week, and continue to stay safe.
Georgia Shephard—Assistant Principal
This week we begin a new topic on ‘Types of Numbers’. This week on Monday
and Tuesday we will investigate Multiples, Common Multiples and the Lowest Common Multiple (LCM)
of two numbers. On Wednesday and Thursday students will continue working from their booklets look-
ing at Factors and the Highest Common Factor (HCF) of two numbers. It would be great if all students
could do these worksheets before next Monday when we will move onto Prime and Composite numbers.
There are also extra sheets on both of these concepts labelled ’for Fast Finishers’. These extra sheets are
for those who work more quickly or would like an extra challenge.
I encourage all students to keep practicing their multiplication tables (especially for this topic) and a re-
minder that Mathletics can also be accessed for extra activities.

Year 12 Advanced English— Year 12 have commenced studying Module C: The Craft of Writing. This
unit will require students to assume the role of
both responder and composer. They will respond
to two prescribed texts (a Science Fiction short
story and a persuasive essay.) In responding to
these two texts, students will need to identify key
themes and messages and recognise the ways in
which the respective composers have achieved this through a variety of literary and rhetorical devices.
Students will also be required to imitate these compositions thematically, structurally and in form. Fur-
thermore, students will need to be able to reflect on the compositional process through the use of Reflec-
tion Statements. The writing pieces composed by the students will be drafted and edited and ultimately
be part of an official Writing Folio assessment task.
Year 12 Modern History— Year 12 will embark upon the Conflict
in the Pacific 1937-1951 unit as part of the Peace & Conflict Module.
This unit will focus on Japan’s emerging presence as an empire in the
Pacific during this time period. Japan’s capture of Chinese Manchuria
in 1931 will be examined as well as the taking of a number of German
colonial possession in the Pacific. American and Australian foreign pol-
icy responses will be explored, including responses to the attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941 and the Japa-
nese bombing of Darwin. Later in the term students will be required to prepare and deliver a formal
speech regarding an aspect of this topic.
Year 11 Standard English— Year 11 are beginning their Close Study of Text Module. The text being
focused upon is the novel, Raw, by Scott Monk. This novel explores the broad concept of Institutions and
how individuals interact with them. Specifically, the novel focuses on main character, Brett Dalton, who is
a juvenile re-offender sent to a minimum security correctional facility known as ‘The Farm.’ Students will
have the opportunity to explore thematic concerns such as conformity, rebellion & protest, consequenc-
es, reform & rehabilitation.

At the end of Term 1, students were finishing their unit on Mental Health. Students have been given an
assessment task due in week 4 to research a particular Mental Health Disorder and choose a method to
present it with relevant information. Students have started the unit ‘Respectful Relationships’ and will be
completing this unit throughout Term 2.
Year 9/10 PASS
The students have finished their work-booklets and practical lessons on the unit ‘Body Systems’, where
they looked at all of the different systems throughout the Human Body. In practical lessons, students
were measuring things such as their heart rate at different stages of exercise. This term, students will be
completing the unit ‘Technology in Sport’ where they will investigate the extent to which technology has
changed sport over the years.
