For three days during week seven, our Duke of Ed students endured the elements at Warrumbungle National Park. Joined by Binnaway and Trangie Central School, the days were spent participating in team building challenges and ad-venturous hikes throughout the many valleys, ridges and near ver-tical faces found throughout the national park. Some great friend-ships were developed and our school was well represented by all participants of the trip. It was great to see Duke of Ed members progress through their levels, and we are looking forward to our next outdoor adventure which will involve a hike along beaches and through coastal rainforest!

Welcome to Week 8
This morning our prospective Captains for 2019 gave their address to the whole
school assembly. Each of the candidates gave an insightful speech as to why they
would like to be Captain of Dunedoo Central School for 2019. At the conclusion of
the assembly, all staff and students from Years 2—11 voted. I would like to con-
gratulate each of the candidates on nominating for the position and I look forward
to announcing the 2019 Dunedoo Central School Captains at the Week 10 Merit
Assembly.
Our new school website is up and running. You may access the website by typing in Dunedoo Central School to a
search engine or by the following link: https://dunedoo-c.schools.nsw.gov.au
The new website looks much more contemporary; using the new website is very intuitive - it's logical sequencing in
how information is combined. I'm really hoping that the community engage with our website and that there will be a
higher frequency of usage on the different pages.
Good Luck to our students competing on Friday in the Premiers Spelling Bee, our Primary students attending the West-
ern Region PSSA Athletics Carnival and the Open Girls Squash Team who will compete in the State Final at Werrington.
Have a great week!

Congratulations to all students who performed in Mudgee last Wednesday evening. Your impeccable manners on the bus to and from the CLC Gala need to commended. This week we are in full swing for our speeches. Its great to see so many students prepared. The two themes: My Pet OR Farming and the Drought—are great topics that the children are very passionate about. Good luck to all students who participate this week. The rain last week was wonderful and thank you to all parents for your understanding for the postponed Wollemi Network, Kinder—Year 2 Tabloids event. It has been rescheduled to Friday, 19th October (1st Friday back next Term) at Binnaway Central School. We are looking forward to the Kinder / Year 1 Assembly this Friday, 12 noon and the DCS Hall. Hope to see you there! Ms. Michelle Gavin, Assistant Principal Infants
Kindergarten / Year 1: K/1 will be hosting the Primary Assembly this
Friday (14th) in the hall and we hope to see as
many of you there as possible.
This week in class we will be listening to every-
one’s speeches. This can be a very nervous time
for students but with practice at home and their
classmates’ support, they will do a wonderful
job. In Maths, K/1 will be telling the time and
revisiting the seasons and which months they
belong to.
Homework will return to normal this week and don’t forget the disco on Wednesday night. Mr Ben Kline
Year 2/3: We are excited about giving our speeches this week. Thank you to the students who
are already prepared and ready. This week we are also developing independence and having a go at choosing our spelling list. Homework this week is practicing speech and spelling practice. Have a great week. Ms. Michelle Gavin
Kinder graduation from last week’s Aspire visit!
ACE: Attitude Conduct Excellence Congratulations to the following Infants/Primary students on reaching:
Level 2 ACE
Year 3/4: Simone Roach, Taneesha Spicer & Lochie Gale
Level 3 ACE
Kinder/Year 1: Caden Mar tin Year 2/3: Robbie Johnstone-Greaves
Strap yourself in for a very busy Week 8. This week has begun with our Captain’s speeches, and we congratulate all candidates for standing up for election. It will be good to watch others give speeches, as we are all preparing for our own public speaking throughout this week and next. Stage 3 students will learn more about how to protect themselves against Cyberbullying and black-mail through a videoconference session with the e-Safety Commis-sioner’s office. The main messages coming from this session in-clude: One in three Australian children have experienced cyber-
bullying and/or blackmail. Parents play a vital role in keeping children safe by monitor-
ing Internet use, and keeping the channels of communication with their children open.
Wednesday’s Disco theme—the 70’s OR come as a Bogan—should add some mid-week fun. On Thursday Stage 3 will attend the annual Green Day event in Mudgee, which is always an enjoyable and worthwhile activity. Friday brings the regional finals of the Premier’s Spelling Bee, in which Shyloh Watton-Hogden, Sophie Kline, Riley Fagestrom and Harry Cluff will compete against students from all over New South Wales—spelling words most of us have never even heard of, let alone tried to spell! We wish them all the best. On Friday we have the Western Region Primary Athletics carnival, and once again students from Dunedoo are representing at this event. Best of luck for a successful day! Keep an eye out for the report in next week’s School News. Congratulations to those who represented our school last Wednesday at the CLC concert. What a great experience for all. Best wishes for Roxy as she takes maternity leave at the end of this week. Have a great Week 8 everyone! Georgia Shephard—Assistant Principal
Year 3/4: Hello everyone and welcome to Week 8, Term 3! This Friday 14th September, Chloe
Brougham, Fletcher Hogden, Luke Redding and William Bampton will be representing DCS at the Western Region Athletics Carnival at Dubbo. Good luck with all your events as you push to make it to the State Car-nival! This week is Public Speaking Week for Infants and Primary. All students were asked to plan/prepare a 2-3 minute speech on their chosen topic (all information went home in last week’s homework). If you need any more ideas or pointers regarding your speech, feel free to come and talk about it with me. Have a great week everyone! Cheers, Mr A Honeysett
Year 5/6: Busy, busy, busy is our week this week! Monday we vote for the 2019 School Captain;
Tuesday some students attend a Careers Expo in Gulgong & the rest of the class attend our e-Safety vide-oconference on Cybersafety; Wednesday we are on our best behaviour whilst a casual covers Stage 3 as Mrs Shephard attends the AP Network meeting; Thursday we are off to Mudgee for the annual Green Day event; Friday sees some Stage 3 students represent DCS in the Premier’s Spelling Bee and the Western Region Athletics Carnival. Nevertheless, our classwork will still need to be completed! Public speaking speeches are being refined this week. Papier Mache is still a work in progress. Homework will go home this week and is due in on Fri-day as normal. Try to keep up! Georgia Shephard—Classroom Teacher
Year 6 Maths: This week in Mathematics we are subtracting and dividing decimals and
converting between decimals, fractions and percentages. Weekly homework sheets are due every Thurs-day. Please encourage your child to complete these revision sheets each week as they help consolidate learning taking place in the classroom and help develop organisational skills. Mrs Cathy Gallagher
