AchievementsEveryone wants to feel like a winner, yet the overwhelming majority of your audience are never going to be talented enough to reach the top of your leader-boards. So they just don't bother trying.

Not all players are talented gamers, so achievements can reward them handsomely in line with the time they spend. Give all your players the chance to feel like a winner.

Activity BarsAn Activity Progress Bar tracks the players progress toward a goal. Simple visual progress meters keep the players focussed on completing the task as they can see success getting closer (even if the next step is more difficult than the previous).

Authentication and LoginNo one likes to be left hanging around. Dubit Platform’s registration, authentication and login process is simple and gets players into the action quickly. If the site has free chat then we enable parental consent for users under the age of 13. Incentivising friend referrals is one element of growing user base, so referral codes can recognise this and award points, currency, achievements or rare items appropriately.

BackpackYou’ve gotta keep your stuff somewhere! In the backpack, players find all the Items they have either bought, found or won. Typically these items are needed as part of a quest.

The backpack can be configured to hold a finite amount of items; users can either purchase backpack upgrades, enabling them to carry more items.

Branching ConversationsNavigating through Branching Conversations, is a gameplay mechanic used in role-playing games, adventure games and virtual worlds. When interacting with Non-Player Characters, the player chooses from multiple options of what to say until the conversation ends. These conversations can be either text or voice based.

Buddy ListPlayers can add users they meet in the world to their buddy list. From the buddy list players can visit their friends customizable user room, go to the room their friend is in, or start a conversation.

The buddy list integrates with Facebook, pulling friends from their social network.

ChatPlayers can chat to each other in real time. The chat messages appears as bubbles above the player’s head.

The world can be configured to have free chat input that allows players to type messages, or a locked down so players can only choose from predefined phrases.

Chat FilteringChat messages are checked against the white list of approved words, and black list of banned words.

The filtering can be configured through the admin website - admins can decide if players should be kicked or banned for in appropriate chatting. The white and black lists can be modified in the admin.

CollectionsOur research found that young boys and girls both enjoy collecting - so we’ve built collections right into the platform. When a player completes a collection they receive an addition reward which they can then boast about to their friends.

Customizable CharactersCharacters are built on either the Layered Engine or Cut Out Engine. Although capable of sophisticated 3D graphics, the layering engine increases file size, download time, and limits the number of animations compared to the Cut Out Engine. Players customise their Character buy purchasing Items, such as clothing, in the shop.

Customizable Loading PagesTravelling between rooms takes only a few seconds. These short pauses are great opportunity to introduce Artefacts, Characters or Key Phrases from a story to repeat important information and immerse the player within the world. They are also be useful for giving hints and tips to help players progress.

Customizable User RoomsThe player can use the currency which they collect to buy items for their own user room. Items such as furniture can be bought from the shop and positioned anywhere within the player’s customisable room.

Players can have more than one room, can invite players back to their room, or even share the room with their friends.

Experience & LevellingGaining experience is how players unlock new areas and features within the virtual world.

The level of experience usually increases in line with the time spent inside the world so that all players will eventually progress into all parts of the world.

MapThe map allows the user to quick navigate around the world.

MenuThe Menu gives players the choice of how they will interact with objects in the world, for example, talking to a non-player character, inspecting an object, picking up a collectable, or pushing a door.

MetersThe meters are often used to show if a pet is hungry, dirty, or sad. Meters decrease over time, it’s the players job to keep those meters full and keep their pet happy.

Non-Player CharactersNon-Player Characters are the computer controlled characters that help to deliver the story or quests. The characters can animate, walk, initiate conversations, play sounds, and more.

NotificationsGeneric notifications use a template layout and can be used for a variety of updates, such as game invites, or achievement completion.

Custom notifications are uniquely designed and used to communicate significant milestones, such as when new items become available to them as a result of achieving a new character level.

Nurturing EngineNurturers are often younger boy and girls, and older girls. They want to meet and play with others and care for their avatar. The nurturing mechanic drives repeat visits as the pet needs regular care and attention.

The Platform Nurturing Pack can be used for many different types of pet or animal. The pet has three attributes, cleanliness, happiness and energy. Over time a pet becomes dirty and unhappy.

Player ProfilesThe player profiles displays progress, achievements that have been completed so far, their avatar, collections, and items they own.

Players can view each others profile which is an important driver of friendly competition, and can also lead to them purchasing virtual currency.

Quest EngineA quest is a task, made of series of objectives that a player completes in order to gain a reward. Rewards may include an increase in the character’s experience, loot or treasure, in-game currency, access to new locations or areas, or any combination of the above.

ShopsThe dhop, which supports both free and premium (paid) currency, can sell clothes, furniture, or other items that might be unique to your world.

Products can be limited to a specified experience level so players can not buy all the items straightaway.

The shops are managed through the admin interface. Any world can support multiple shops, and these can have different products, themes, etc.

Subscription & MicropaymentsThe Dubit Platform supports both subscriptions and Micropayments. Subscriptions can unlock premium features, award premium currency or unique clothes.

Micropayments can be used to buy premium currency that can be spent in the shops using either mobile or credit card.

Both these features are managed through admin website.

Virtual EconomyCurrency, in whatever format, is vital for keeping the virtual world functioning - every Quest or Minigame has rewards, every Item has a price, Typically, the economy is split into Virtual and Premium currency. Converting players to become Premium users is one method of monetising a virtual world, whereby these users purchase Premium Items using micropayments methods.
