TEASER

EXT. COMMERCIAL ALLEY - NIGHT

Four thugs close in on CHARLIE, a smallish teenager (16 not

poorly built, but slender and not overly tall), cornering himin an alley. The kid clearly doesn't stand a chance.

CHARLIECome on guys. I just want to gethome. Please. Here, take mymoney. Its not much, but take it!

THUG 1Oh, were going to take so muchmore.

CHARLIENot my phone! I cant afford toreplace it.

THUG 2You dont get it.

THUG 3Stupid child, were going to takeyou life.

The action freezes.

CHARLIE (V.O.)Raise your hand if you can seewhere this going.

The action begins again.

CHARLIENo!

His extended scream eventually devolves into a laugh.

CHARLIE (CONTD)Sorry. Sorry guys. I couldnt do

it anymore.

The 4 thugs stare at Charlie confused and angry.

CHARLIE (CONTD)You poor schmucks.

Thug 1 roars unnaturally. One of the others lets out areverberating hiss.

Charlie flashes a sly smile just before sparks erupt from hishands throwing Thug 1 flying into the air.

CHARLIE (V.O.)Oh, you thought this was adifferent story, didnt you?

Charlie begins to fight with Thug 4. The thug rips off hisshirt revealing the skin below is neck is armored like anarmadillo. Charlies punches have no effect. As he tries toshoot lightning again the Armadillo Thug hits him with asolid punch that knocks him back several feet into a brickwall.

CHARLIE (V.O.)As you might have guessed, Im notlike the other kids.

THUG 4Pick him up.

Thugs 2 and 3 hold Charlie against the wall while Thug 4 hitshim repeatedly. After several solid blows the thugs throwthe kids 20 feet and he lands on the lid of a dumpster.

CHARLIE (V.O.)Oof, thats going to leave a mark.Unfortunately thats what happenswhen you have to protect the peopleyou love.

Charlie lays sprawled out on the dumpster. Thug 4 charges at

him as he tumbles off the dumpster. As the kid hits theground ERIC (a well built 16-year-old with Olive skin, greeneyes and dark brown hair) sprints around the corner into thealley carrying a golden bow with a quiver of silver arrowsslung over his shoulder. He screams as he releases analready drawn arrow.

ERICCharlie!

Thug 4 turns around just in time for the arrow to plunge intohis throat. He falls to the ground choking on his own blood.

CHARLIE (V.O.)But surprise, sometimes those samepeople can come to your rescue.

EXT. COMMERCIAL ALLEY - CONTINUOUS

CHARLIEEric, stay back!

ERICShut up babe, I got this.

Eric draws another arrow and shoots Thug 2 as he charges.Thug 3 opens his mouth and his prehensile tongue shoots outand wraps around Erics neck causing him to drop the bow.

CHARLIENo!

Charlie tries to summon the strength to stand but he canbarely move. Eric struggles against the tongue, tryingdesperately to breathe as he slowly collapses.

CHARLIE (CONTD)Eric, hold on.

Charlies hands begin to electrify but he doesnt have thestrength to fire a bolt at Thug 3. As Eric continues tostruggle against the tongue a tall and very pretty BlackBritish girl (16 with short, natural hair) enters the alleycarrying a polished shield bearing the image of a severedGorgon head at its center. She has a posh, British accent.

JASZ

What exactly would you two dowithout me? Other than never stopgetting your asses kicked.

Jasz charges at Thug 3 striking him with the shield. As hestumbles back his tongue loosens from Erics neck, who grabson the arrows and uses it to slice off the end of the tongue.Before Eric can string the arrow to shoot the thug Jasz pullsa dagger from a sheath on her ankle and stabs the thug twicein the side. As his lizard companion bleeds out Thug 1begins to stir and sees the carnage lying about. He roarsbefore making his retreat.

CHARLIEThats right you son of a bitch.You run back to your master andtell him what happened here. Youtell Seth that he cant have thistown!

ERICYoure so adorable when yourelobbing vague threats at men asthey run away.

Charlie shoots a bolt of electricity past Erics right ear.The flirtatious teasing continues.

ERIC (CONTD)Ooh, tough guy. Youre going topay for that later.

CHARLIEBring it.

JASZAre you two wankers quite finished?

Jasz goes to check and see if Eric is injured.

ERICNo. Go check on him. You know howeasily he bruises.

CHARLIEI got thrown against a dumpster youasshole.

Jasz helps steady Charlie, who is bleeding from a gashes overhis left eye and on his knee, as the two of them and Ericleave the alley.

INT. PENTHOUSE - LATER

A man of North African descent sits on an ornate thronesurrounded by a small group of people who kneel and pray inEgyptian. THUG 1 bursts into the room sporting several burnsfrom his encounter with CHARLIE.

SETHWhat is the meaning of this?

THUG 1We were attacked. The rest aredead.

SETHThree of my best men? And what doyou have to say for yourself? Howdid you survive?

THUG 1Someone had to let you know.

SETHThat you were beaten by humans?

THUG 1One of them had the Spark. And theothers carried artifacts. A Bowand shield. But the boy we

cornered had power.

SETHBoy? They were children?

THUG 1But sir--

SETHIve heard enough of yourinsolence.

SETHs eyes glow red as he begins to transform. He grows tonearly 10 feet tall and his head becomes that of a jackal.His voice is also noticeably deeper.

GOD SETHIts just such a shame I had tolose four good men today.

THUG 1No! Please my Lord, no.

The GOD SETH suddenly lunges at the THUG and uses his teethto tear the mans throat out. He falls to the ground,

gurgling as the life fades from him. A pregnant womanapproaches from nearby. As she speaks SETH returns to hisprevious form, looking no different with the exception ofblood splattered on his chest.

TAWARETThe Spark? Well, it seems yoursuspicions about this place wereright. The Old Ones did not lie.

TAWARET draws her finger across SETHs chest and licks theblood.

SETHNo, they did not. I shall securewhat you need to bring Him backinto the world.

He caresses her stomach.

SETHI know. The artifacts mean someonepowerful is watching.

The praying continues as SETH returns to his throne.

INT. ADAMS HOME - NIGHT

CHARLIE, ERIC and JASZ return to Charlies home from theirencounter in the alley. Charlie is still bleeding from hiseye and knee and ligature marks have developed on Ericsneck. They enter the home silently. Eric hurriedly helpsCharlie upstairs as Jasz slides into the kitchen to distractCharlies parents CHARLOTTE and DAVID.

Jasz appears behind Charlotte in the kitchen. She isstartled when she sees Jasz.

CHARLOTTEI didnt hear you three come in.

JASZSorry to startle you Mrs. Adams.

The boys went upstairs. I waswondering if I might bother you forsome ice. I took a couple hits tomy ribs during training tonight.

CHARLOTTEI dont think Ill ever get used tothe three of you taking boxinglessons. Especially you andCharlie.

JASZIts all for fun Mrs. Adams. Plus,

its a great way to stay in shape,especially for a girl who findsstarving herself undignified. Andyou never can be too safe, evenaway from the city.

Charlotte fills a sandwich bag with ice and hands it to Jasz.

CHARLOTTE (CONTD)Will you be staying for dinner?

JASZNo maam. We have a project to

finish, but Eric and I wont belong. Thank you for the ice.

Jasz leaves Charlotte and David and heads upstairs.

CHARLOTTE (O.C.)Im so glad Charlie has a friendwith such good manners. Hopefullya little will rub off on him.

INT. ADAMS HOME (CHARLIES ROOM) - CONTINUOUS

JASZ enters the room and finds ERIC still trying to stopCHARLIEs bleeding above his eye.

ERICI cant get it to stop. I thinkits really deep.

JASZI got some ice. Eric, go ask hismom for some alcohol and bandages.

CHARLIENo, shell get worried.

ERICDont worry hon, Ill think ofsomething to tell her.

Jasz takes over for Eric and adds ice to the pressure onCharlies head.

INT. ADAMS HOME - CONTINUOUS

As ERIC comes down the stairs he overhears CHARLOTTE andDAVID talking. He stops and listens.

CHARLOTTEI just dont understand why a boyhis age needs to take boxinglessons unless he feels afraid andwants to protect himself.

DAVIDHes a teenage boy darling. Youcant even try to understand them.

Eric heads back up several stairs before coming down loudenough to cause Charlotte to stop talking.

CHARLOTTEGood evening Eric. How are youdoing tonight?

ERICFine thanks. Do you have analcohol and bandages? You sondecided it would be a good idea topick at a scratch above his eye.

CHARLOTTEHes always been like that. Honey,whats wrong with your neck?

As Eric heads back up the stairs he overhears Charlottetalking again. Shes nearly in tears.

CHARLOTTEI really wish Charlie would talk tous, but at least I can take somecomfort in the fact that hes foundsomeone that takes such good careof him. I couldnt ask for more.

Eric smiles to himself and returns to Charlies room.

INT. ADAMS HOME (CHARLIES ROOM) - CONTINUOUS

JASZ still has ice and a rag on CHARLIEs eye. ERIC enters,carrying the alcohol and bandages.

ERIC

Hows the patient?

JASZIts not stopping.

ERICOkay, let me in there.

Eric grabs another rag and soaks it in alcohol.

ERIC (CONTD)Honey, this is going to hurt. Trynot to yell too loud.

Eric places the rag against Charlies wound. He begins toyell and struggle. Jasz covers his mouth.

JASZItll be over in a second. Shh.

(pushes hair off his face)Youll be okay baby. Are you goingto stop yelling?

Charlie nods. Jasz lets go.

CHARLIEThat hurt like a bitch!

ERICBuck up, cupcake.

Charlie lightly shocks Eric.

ERIC (CONTD)Ow, you ass. It still wont stop.

CHARLIEI have an idea. Jasz, grab thatspoon from the bowl on my desk.Eric, sterilize it.

Jasz and Eric do as their asked. Charlie then takes thespoon and sends electricity through it until it begins toglow with heat. He bites down on a towel and then holds thespoon against the wound to cauterize it.

ERICStop it!

JASZNo, it has to be done.

After several seconds Charlie pulls away the spoon and thebleeding has stopped. Eric slaps Charlie on the shoulder andthen hugs him.

ERICDont ever do anything like thatagain without warning me.

CHARLIESorry. I saw it on TV once. Itseemed like my only choice.

ERICI dont think I could have donethat.

CHARLIE(joking)

Yeah, I am pretty impressive.

JASZHere, let me bandage you up.

Jasz kneels beside Charlie and tends to him. Eric sits onCharlies bed, suddenly looking very serious.

CHARLIEBecause, Im afraid.

No Charlie, that is stupid. Yourmother adores you. And your fatheris damn civil rights attorney. Youhave absolutely no reason to beworried.

CHARLIEBut theres that fear. I dontcare if you think its irrational.

JASZObviously the only solution is foryou to move in with me. Grabyoure things.

CHARLIEYour sarcasm isnt helping.

JASZDarling, Im serious. If they getmad, or kick you out, or whatever,

you can move in with me. Theydidnt care when my sister came outher first year of university.

They both shake their heads.

JASZWell, this is all just adorable,but we need to get going.

Charlie walks Jasz and Eric to the front door. Charliestands in the door as he says bye to them.

ERICWell meet you here in the morning.

JASZBye hon. Leave the eye alone, andput some more ice on it.

CHARLIEOkay mom.

ERICBye.

As Eric is about to walk away he notices Mrs. Adams in thehallway behind Charlie. Shes watching the goodbyes. Ericdecides to force Charlies hand. He leans in and givesCharlie a kiss and then whispers in his ear.

ERIC (CONTD)I love you.

Charlie grins huge.

CHARLIEI love you too.

Eric steps back form Charlie and looks at Mrs. Adams.

ERICNight Mrs. Adams.

Charlies expression rapidly changes as Eric and Jasz walkoff into the night.

INT. DUNGEON - NIGHT

An OLD MAN is being whipped by a bearded man with fur andcheetah spots.

OLD MANPlease stop. I already told themall I know. Just leave me to die.

The whipping continues in the dank cell. The old mancollapses, seemingly dead. His tormentor approaches him. Herolls the Old Man over. The Old Mans eyes shoot open,glowing red. The bearded man falls into a trance.

OLD MAN (CONTD)You should have just killed me.Now, get me out of here.

The bearded man opens the cell and leads the Old Man out.

EXT. ADAMS HOME - MORNING

JASZ and ERIC wait at the Adamss door. Eric rings the bell.

JASZI cant believe you did that to himlast night. That wasnt very nice.

ERICHe didnt call and ask to stay at

your place, so obviously I wasright.

CHARLOTTE throws open the door and pulls Eric into her armsand hugs him. Everyone is on the same page, at least aboutthat secret. CHARLIE appears and wrestles his boyfriend outhim mothers arms.

CHARLIEOkay mom. Please dont smotherhim. I need him.

CHARLOTTE

(teasing Charlie)Well, now that thats all takencare of, just a little rule.Whenever Erics here you need tokeep your door open.

Eric turns bright red and Jasz has to fight with all hermight not to laugh. Charlie looks like hes going to besick.

CHARLIEAnd I dont think Ill ever be ableto eat again. We need to leave.

The three of them walk away from the house and toward thewoods that are behind the home.

EXT. WOODS - CONTINUOUS

As the three of them enter the woods Eric inquires about whathappened with Eric and his mom.

ERICSo, what happened?

CHARLIE

She saw the kiss. And then shejust hugged me, and told me sheloved me. And then gave me a sextalk about the dangers of HIV and Iwanted to kill myself.

Eric begins to laugh loudly.

CHARLIE (CONTD)What? Why are you laughing?

(over the laughter)Seriously, what is so damn funny?Jasz?

JASZOi. Just tell him Eric. Stoptorturing the poor child.

ERICI did it on purpose. I saw herthrough the door and decided to ripthe Band-Aid off quickly.

Charlie punches Eric on the shoulder. He winces more than heshould and Charlie notices the cut on Erics lip that wasntthere the night before.

Eric grabs Charlies hand they begin to speed up.

JASZAre you guys ready for the Frenchtest?

ERICAm I ever?

CHARLIENo, but youll just cheat off herlike you normally do.

ERICIf you have a problem with it Iguess you should probably stopcopying my Pre-Calc homework.

JASZYes, cause you failing French andCharlie failing math would reallydo wonders for you both. Play niceboys.

They walk in silence for a few seconds.

CHARLIESo, you wanna tell me what reallyhappened? Cause you didnt have afat lip last night?

Eric stops dead.

ERICHe was passed out when I got home,bottle still in his hand. I wasntquiet enough. He threw it at meand then went back to sleep. Itwasnt anything big.

Eric has clearly won that argument, and Charlie doesntpursue it any further. He just kisses Eric on the forehead.

ERIC (CONTD)Now, can we please talk about thatsenior Jasz cant stop staring atin the halls.

CHARLIEOh my God. Yes. Have you evereven talked to him?

JASZBoth of you can piss right off.And no, I havent.

CHARLIEYou totally should.

JASZYeah, maybe I will.

ERICHes right. I mean, black girlwith a British accent. Its

As they approach the other side of the woods Charlie and Ericrelease hands and Jasz steps between them. Jasz and Ericput their arms around each other.

They all laugh.

CHARLIE (CONTD)(suddenly serious)

CHARLIE(interrupting)

Charlie has heard something back beyond the treeline.

CHARLIE (CONTD)(whispering)Theres someone back there. Actnormal.

(loudly)You guys keep going, I forgot oneof my books. Ill catch up later.

As Charlie heads back toward the treeline he charges up hishand behind his back. Just before he reaches the edge of thewoods the OLD MAN, covered in blood stumbles out at him. Theman collapses as he grabs on to Charlie.

OLD MANHelp me. Seth knows.

Eric and Jasz run back toward him.

CHARLIEIm fine. You two get to school.

ERICAre you sure youre okay?

CHARLIE

Look at him. Hes barely alive.Ill clean him up talk to him.

Charlie leads the Old Man back into the woods toward hishouse as Eric and Jasz head toward the school.

INT. DUNGEON - DAY

The BEARDED MAN stands outside of the Old Mans cell, stillin his trance. SETH and TAWARET observe him. After severalattempts to wake him Seth has had enough.

SETHInsolent fool. I warned him not togo near the man.

TAWARETThe reason he has survived thislong is because he is clever. Hehowever has nowhere to go. We willfind him again.

Seth begins to transform but Tawaret places a hand on him.

TAWARET (CONTD)

No. Ill deal with whats left.We need to feed.

Seth returns to his human form and leaves. Tawarettransforms. She grows tall and her body begins to distend.Her head elongates and sharp teeth fill in along the snout.She stands on two legs with the body of a hippopotamus andthe head of a crocodile. She then violently takes thehypnotized man and swallows him whole. As she returns to hernormal form a FRAIL MAN in a nearby cell calls out to her.

FRAIL MANYou will not rebirth Him.

TAWARETJust try and stop me.

INT. ADAMS HOME (CHARLIES ROOM) - DAY

CHARLIE tends to the bleeding OLD MAN who sits on his bed.

OLD MANShe is coming for you.

CHARLIEStill not sure on the who.

OLD MAN (CONTD)She is a consort of Seth. Goddessof childbirth. She is pregnant nowbut needs more power in order togive birth?

CHARLIEMore power? Shes a God ofchildbirth? Why would she needmore power?

OLD MANIt is what she is meant to bearthat requires the power.

CHARLIEOkay. And that is?

OLD MAN

Anubis. And he and Seth will sweepthrough this town, this country,the world, bringing chaos and--

CHARLIEDeath. Yeah, I get it. Im notgoing to let that happen.

OLD MANYou will not be able to stop itbecause youll already be dead.

CHARLIE

OLD MANBeyond them, you are the mostpowerful thing in this town. TheSpark is what she needs. She is amother.

CHARLIEIf youre so afraid, then maybeyoure the one who should run.

The Old Man suddenly becomes very angry.

OLD MANRunning does not make you a coward,it makes you smart. Stupid peopledo not survive for 3,000 years.Sometimes the only choice is tolive to see tomorrow.

CHARLIE

And sometimes you have to live forsomeone other than yourself.

OLD MANFine. Stay, die. But understand,she will come, she will take theSpark and then Seth and Anubis willdestroy everything you know. I didmy part. I warned you. Yourfather cannot blame me now for whathappens to you.

The old man storms out.

CHARLIEMy father? He doesnt know aboutany of this.

Charlie looks at the clock, realizes its almost 11, grabshis bag and rushes out of the house.

Erics father, MR. BOMBER stumbles through the hallway,drunk. He enters Erics room and begins to rummage throughErics belongings. He pushes aside a picture of Eric, Jaszand Charlie and moves onto to looking in the closet.Eventually he finds a small box, as he opens it a small dog

begins to yip at him. Its Erics Miniature Pinscher,Jackson. Mr. Bomber removes a small wad of money from thebox and starts to leave. Jackson bites him on the ankle andgrowls.

MR. BOMBERGod damn little rat.

Mr. Bomber kicks Jackson, who yelps and scurries into thecloset to hide.

MR. BOMBER (CONTD)I should have never let Eric keepyou.

INT. OUR LADY OF HEAVENLY GRACE (HALLWAY/CLASSROOM) - DAY

CHARLIE rushes into the school, checking his watch to figureout what class hes supposed to be in. He rushes down thehall before yanking open the last door and stepping into afull class. All eyes turn to him. MRS. LUCAS (a small,waifish eccentric in her 50s) glares at him.

MRS. LUCAS(in French)

Where have you been Mr. Adams?

Charlie stares at her, struggling to form a response.

CHARLIE(in broken French)

I was...um...I had to stop andhelp...

(English)Sorry Madame Lucas, I--

MRS. LUCAS(French)

No. In French.

JASZ raises her hand.

JASZ(French)

Mrs. Lucas, Charlies mother gaveme a note this morning.

Charlie takes his seat next to Jasz, who sits in front ofEric.

CHARLIE(Whispering)

A note from my mother? You littlecriminal. Youre a dangerous woman.

JASZI know. Thats why you keep mearound.

CHARLIE(turning to Eric)

Howd you manage?

JASZMe, obviously.

ERICIt helps to have a girlfriend whosfluent.

The bell rings and the students collect there things.Charlie, Jasz and Eric are the last to leave the room, Ericand Jasz hand-in-hand. As Charlie leaves the room SCOTHARTINGER (a well built, red-headed senior) knocks the booksout of his hand.

SCOTLoser.

Eric starts to go after Scot but Charlie grabs his hand.

CHARLIE

No. Hes not worth it.

Jasz quickly grabs a chalkboard eraser from Mrs. Lucas roomand throws it. It hits Scot in the back of the head. Hequickly turns around as everyone in the hall starts thelaugh.

JASZLike you said, a dangerous woman.

A student enters Charlies history class carrying a note. Hegives it to the teacher before leaving. The teacher quietly

reads it.

TEACHERCharlie Adams, they need you in theoffice.

EXT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - NIGHT

CHARLIE, ERIC and JASZ fight a group of Seths thugs. Ericand Jasz hold of a group of three while Charlie fights two byhimself.

ERICCharlie, baby, we need to stopplaying with them.

CHARLIEThen take em down.

As he says it Charlie hits one of the three Eric and Jasz arefighting with a bolt and he drops. Eric drops a second withan arrow to the chest before Jasz charges the third with theshield, holding him against the wall while Eric shoots him inthe head.

Charlie hits the two thugs hes fighting with bolts and theyfly back against the wall. One gets up and starts to flee.Eric begins to chase him.

CHARLIENo, we only need one.

Eric stops and fires an arrow at the fleeing thug. Itstrikes him in the back and he drops, dead.

CHARLIE (CONTD)Jasz, a little help.

She takes the shield and uses it to pin the remaining thug.

SETH stands on a balcony overlooking downtown. A large eagleappears in the sky and lands next to him. It transform intoa man who steps down off of the railing.

INT. OUR LADY OF HEAVENLY GRACE (HALLWAY/CLASSROOMS) - DAY

CHARLIE sits in his religion class barely paying attention,drawing spirals in his notebook.

Elsewhere ERIC and JASZ work together in chemistry, pouringthings from one beaker to another. After pouring in severalingredients the largest beaker overflows with a yellow foam.

The bell rings and the students fill the halls. Charlieexits a room at one end while Eric, with his arm around Jasz,exits one at the other end. Charlie spots them and wavesbefore walking toward them. He is quickly stopped as SCOTtrips him. Laughter fills the hall as Charlies face hitsthe floor.

Eric starts to move toward him but Jasz grabs his wrist.

JASZNo. Let him handle it. He needsto learn to deal with it himself.

Eric and Jasz walk slowly toward the action.

Scot and two other friends stand around Charlie as he standsup. There is a small trickle of blood coming from his nose.Charlie wipes away the blood and attempts to walk away buthis path is blocked by Scot as he and his friends begin tohurl insults.

SCOTYou should really watch whereyoure walking bitch. You wouldntwant to hit your head.

FRIEND 1(in a baby voice)

Charlie glares angrily at Scot. Hes red, and seething withanger but is doing his best to stay calm, though failing.

Scot steps in and throws a punch, knocking Charlie to theground again. Eric once again tries to make a move towardthe fight. Jasz stops him.

JASZEric, hes handling it.

Eric notices the hairs on his arm standing up and rips hishand away from Jasz.

He shows her the hair. As she starts to protest the lightabove Charlie flickers and then explodes.

Eric quickly rushes into the middle of the group, Jasz closeon his heels.

EXT. BOMBER HOUSE - NIGHT

CHARLIE arrives at ERICs house and jumps off his bike, firepoker still in hand. JASZ pulls up a few seconds later inher forest green Jaguar X350. She parks and gets out.

JASZWhats the emergency.

CHARLIEHis dad. He overheard us chattingand hit Eric.

Jasz grabs a can of mace from her glove compartment beforeshe and Charlie enter the house.

INT. BOMBER HOUSE - CONTINUOUS

There is yelling coming from a room near the back. CHARLIEand JASZ hurry toward the noise and find MR. BOMBER stillbeating ERIC. He cowers on the floor, bleeding from severalspots on his face. Hes a mess of tears. Jasz sprays Mr.Bomber with the mace. He screams and swings blindly.Charlie dives at Eric and drags him out of the room beforegoing back in and grabbing a number of Erics belongings (hisphone, his computer, his wallet, a picture of him Jasz andCharlie, and his dog). He throws them in a bag and gives itto Jasz.

CHARLIE

Get him away from here. NOW!

Mr. Bomber finally regains his bearings and realizes hesalone in the room with Charlie.

MR. BOMBERWheres my son?

CHARLIE (CONTD)Youre never going to hurt your sonagain.

EXT. BOMBER HOUSE - SIMULTANEOUSLY

JASZ stumbles out of the house with ERIC leaning against her.She manages to get him over to her car and sits him on thehood. She grabs a shirt form the bag CHARLIE gave her anduses it to soak up the blood from a wound at Erics hairline.He comes out of his daze, realizes where his is and tries tostand. Jasz forces him back down as he starts to speak.

ERICWheres Charlie?

JASZHe stayed to distract your dad

while I got you safety.

ERICOh God, hes going to kill him.

JASZNo, Charlie will be fine. He cantake care of himself.

ERICNo! My dad. Hes going to kill mydad.

Jasz realizes hes right and turns to run back into thehouse. As she does there is a blinding flash of white light.It comes from inside the house but fills everything. Jaszstaggers backwards and Eric screams. As Jasz regains herbalance she sees the house is on fire and part of it hascollapsed. She pulls out her phone and calls 911.

Jasz is in hysterics as she hangs up. There is a sudden,deafening, cracking pop. Moments later, an eight foot tall

woman, with a golden aura emerges from the burning homecarrying a lifeless figure in her arms. She wears bronzearmor and a tunic. As she approaches Jasz she shrinks downto the size of a normal woman and the aura dissipates. Sheis athletically built, but has a soft face. She gentlyplaces Charlie down in the grass at Jaszs feet. Eric stepsup next to Jasz and steadies himself on her shoulder. Theyare both at a loss.

ATHENAMy father sent me to help mybrother.

JASZBrother?

ATHENAYoure the girl. I hope youvebeen taking good care of my shield.

There is another loud crack and the woman is gone. Jaszkneels to check Charlie for injuries as an armada of firetrucks arrive at the scene. In the flood of lights the scenechanges to a grassy hillside.

EXT. PILLAR HILL - 16 YEARS AGO - EVENING

A young couple reclines on a blanket on a picturesquehillside. A picnic laid out between them. The scene unfoldsas CHARLIE describes them.

CHARLIE (V.O.)Sometimes, after a few drinks, mymother likes to tell me a story.Shes never specifically said it,but Ive figured out that its thestory of the night I was conceived.Normally thatd be gross and

traumatic, but the way she tells itis beautiful. She recalls anevening that started out verypretty. She and my father werehaving a picnic at sunset when astorm suddenly rolled in and itbegan to rain. A rain followed bylightning like theyd never seenbefore.
