Our staff support the goals of social well-being and growth by meeting the individual development needs of each child. Fun Club features many quality activities for children some of which may include: supervised homework time, cooking, group activities & fitness games, Zumba, karate, drama, com-puters, sports, arts & crafts, walking field trips, music, indoor/outdoor games & much more!

Endicott Park is owned and operated by the Town of Danvers. The park encompasses 165 acres and is home to some of the most unique and varied recreational land on the North Shore. Today, Endicott Park attracts nearly 160,000 visitors a year. The park’s varied landscape includes pastoral views, historic farm buildings, orchards, woodlands, and marshes. A network of trails and gravel roads allows for stress free exploration of the park. En-dicott Park will be home to the new Danvers Dog Park, a newly renovated playground and the future Nature Cen-ter. Endicott Park offers a number of options for groups wishing to reserve an area for private use. For more in-formation on the permit process, please visit their website at www.endicottpark.com. Danvers provides boaters with a naturally protected harbor with less than a 30 minute ride to the ocean. The Crane River Marina is the Town’s only public marina and provides dock-age for 68 vessels up to 25’ in length. Pope’s Landing offers public restrooms, a lighted parking lot, scenic park, and picnic area. For a minimum charge you can launch your boat using our boat launch ramp. WEEK before your program is scheduled to begin. More often than not, we receive the most calls for registration after we’ve had to cancel a program.

[Counselor In Training]

How Does It Work?

Procedure Potential CITs can begin picking up/printing out CIT Application packets on March 14, 2016. CITs should fill out all paperwork and obtain a written teacher reference and return both in person to the Danvers Recreation office by the June 3, 2016 deadline. Applications will not be reviewed if they are submitted after the deadline or if they are incomplete. Danvers Rec Staff will review applications and acceptance/rejection notifications will be sent out on June 10, 2016. If accepted, CITs should arrange to meet with specific program directors if it is in their program criteria, or come in as soon as possible to register for desired programs and weeks. Registration is based on a first-come first-serve basis and occurs in-office only. Your non-refundable payment is required upon registering; you may not register without payment under any circumstances. CIT training on June 25, 2016 is mandatory. You may not participate in the CIT program if you do not attend training.

Danvers Recreation summer programs run for roughly eight weeks. Accepted CITs sign-up for programs on a weekly basis (i.e. CITs may do a week of SNAKE, a week of LPS, a week of Jour-ney’s and so on as long as they fit each program’s requirements). Through supervised group leadership opportunities CITs learn the skills and responsibilities necessary to become a leader by participating in all weekly program events. While in the program, the goal is to have CITs develop values, environmental awareness and the confidence necessary to make the transi-tion from camper to counselor. If accepted, it is essential that CITs attend the full weeks of the program they register for. Participation in this program does not guarantee being hired as a staff member. CITs take from the program what they put into it.

The Counselor in Training Program is designed to give selected High School age students (ages 14-17) the opportunity to learn and develop leadership and teamwork skills in our summer programs. This program is for those students who are seriously interested in learn-ing about leadership and responsibility. The program consists of training and actual work ex-perience with campers under the supervision of a Danvers Recreation staff person. Ballroom Dancing

Yes, even YOU can go from the couch to running 3 miles! Too many people have been turned off to running simply by trying to start off too fast. Their body’s rebel and they wind up feeling miserable, wondering why anyone would possibly want to do this to themselves. You should ease into your running program gradually. In fact, the beginners’ program we will do is less of a running regimen than a walking and jogging program. The idea is to transform you from couch potato to runner, getting you running three miles (5k) on a regular basis in just two months! Each session should take about 20-30 minutes, three times a week. That just happens to be the same amount of moderate exercise recommended by numerous studies for optimum fitness. This program will get you fit!
