The apex court was informed by the bar body that they have withdrawn their earlier resolution in which they had said that no lawyer will represent any of the accused in the case. A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra observed that an accused has the right to be rep- resented by an advocate and the bar was under an obligation not to obstruct any lawyer from appear- ing on behalf of an accused. "We must say without any hesitation that any accused, what- ever the offence maybe, has a right to be represented by an advocate. The tradition of bar does not authorise any bar associ- ation to pass a resolution like this.(PTI) India bids farewell to one of its finest warriors NEW DELHI, Sept 18: The nation today bade a teary farewell to the Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh as the legendary warrior was laid to rest with full state honours including a fly past by fighter jets here. Singh's body was consigned to flames amid chanting of hymns at the Brar Square in Delhi Cantonment in the presence of sev- eral senior political leaders and top brass of the Indian Military. A gun salute was given to Singh while IAF Sukhoi fighter jets carried out a fly past in the ‘missing man formation’ in honour of the 1965 war hero who died on Saturday. There was a fly past by IAF choppers also. The missing man formation is an aerial manoeuvre to show respect to a departed military leader. The national flag flew at half- mast at all government buildings in the national capital in the honour of the iconic hero of the 1965 India- Pakistan war, who was the only IAF officer to be promoted to five- star rank. Earlier, Singh's body, wrapped in a flag, was taken to the Brar Square crematorium from his resi- dence on a gun carriage. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the three service chiefs were among those present at the crematorium. A number of for- mer chiefs of the Army and Indian Air Force and Singh’s family members paid tributes to the departed military icon at Brar Sqare. A lot of people including Sitharaman were seen getting emo- tional when Singh's body was con- signed to the flames. One of the finest soldiers of India, Singh, who had led an young Indian Air Force during the 1965 India-Pakistan war, died on Saturday following a cardiac arrest at the age of 98. All senior officers of the three services were present at the Brar Square besides several political leaders including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and BJP veteran L K Advani. President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Singh's residence yesterday and paid glowing tributes to the war hero. Singh, the only officer to attain the highest post of Marshal of the Air Force, a rank equivalent to the Army's five star field marshal, was a fearless and exceptional pilot who played a major role in trans- forming the IAF into one of the most potent air forces globally and the fourth biggest in the world. Known as a man of few words, Singh was a fearless pilot and had profound knowledge about air power and applied it in a wide spectrum of areas.(PTI) Man attacked with sharp edged weapon Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 18: A man was today attacked with a sharp edged weapon by two miscre- ants in Bishnah area of city out- skirts. According to a police offi- cial, a man namely Sunil Kumar son of Banarsi Dass, resident of Kothey Morh (Bishnah), was returning to his home from a barber's shop in his locality, this evening, when two men of his village namely Vikram Kumar alias Billa son of Ram Lal and Lovely alias Kalu son of Govind Singh, stopped his way and attacked with sharp edged weapon. "In the attack, Sunil Kumar got injured badly. Passersby shifted him to nearby hospital for treatment", the police official said, adding in this connection, a case FIR NO 195/2017 under Sections 341/323 RPC, 4/25 Arms Act was registered at police station Bishnah. He said after conducting var- ious raids, police managed to arrest one of the accused namely Lovely while efforts were on to nab the second accused. Truck loaded with 9 bovines seized, 1 held Excelsior Correspondent RAJOURI, Sept 18: Thannamandi police foiled a bovines smuggling bid and seized a truck loaded with nine (9) milch animals during last night. Giving details official sources said that a police naka party from Thannamandi led by SHO, Insp Karan Chalotra intercepted a truck No. JK-11/ 5169 at Bego Nad, about 2 kms ahead of Thannamandi town last night for checking. The driver stopped the vehicle and tried to escape. The police party chased and nabbed the driver and during physical checking of the vehicle, they found nine bovine animals loaded in it. The police party seized the truck and rescued cat- tle. They were being taken to Kashmir via Mughal Road. The accused driver was identified as Khaliq Ahmed, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Jawahar Nagar, Rajouri. The police registered a case against the smugglers and start- ed investigation. Border areas to be developed: Rijiju NEW DELHI, Sept 18: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said today that there was a need to revisit the policies on border management to ensure that the frontier regions grow in step with the rest of the country. Rijiju said the NDA Government was committed to bringing prosperity for the peo- ple living in border areas through development. "We as a nation, need to revisit our policies on border management and ensure that entire borders are as developed as other areas," he said after inaugurating a conference on smart border management and coastal and maritime security, organised by the India Foundation and the FICCI. The Union Minister of State for Home said the nation begins from its border and not from its capital. Rijiju also released a FICCI- PwC report on 'smart border management' which has high- lighted the threats and chal- lenges faced by various agencies in the deployment of an effec- tive coastal security mechanism across the Indian coast. Official sources said that on the basis of public complaint about the illegal operation of tractor trolleys in the district, a team of Transport Department led by ARTO Poonch, Abdul Rahim, launched special drive today and seized 10 tractor trol- leys. DODA, Sept 18: A motorcy-clist was killed today in a roadmishap at Galigud Kandni.

According to the reports, aman identified as Alam Din sonof Kuhda Baksh, resident ofChapuli Trigam, was killedwhen a bike on which he wasgoing on, plunged into a deepgorge near Galigud Kandni onDoda-Kishtwar Road.
