Hello Community,

By the time you get this, spring will be in full force. Summer will be peaking at us. And it’s baseball season! How can life get any better? By enjoying one of many classes this spring!

So what do we have for you coming up this quarter? For a second run and at the request of the community, we will be running the iPad and Facebook classes again (p. 23). If you have been wondering about Google Docs (we use these in the office and for staff communication), you can also find this on page 23.

Also popular and on the “newer” side of our classes are our Saturday job development classes. Whether enjoying a goal setting session, resume tune-up, or learning about interviewing techniques—these classes are designed to ready you for job applications. On a recent Saturday, I stopped in and observed the interview class and learned unexpected questions that employers ask in interviews. For example, Google has asked: How many cows are in Canada? I was surprised! But after hearing the answer about why, it made sense. So come and let us help get you ready.

Parents with little ones—come join us for Reading Under the Stars (p. 17) or have fun in Preschool Music (p. 17).

Consider three newer classes: Using Balance to Avoid Injury (p. 33), Natural Strategies for Digestive Problems (p. 33), and Self Defense for Women with Brian Neeley. (I’ve taken a class with Brian who will open your eyes to “space” and cautionary techniques to avoid trouble.)

Want to get active? Try one of our P90X classes (p. 33). I’ve been taking one for two quarters, and it’s fantastic! Don’t let the “Ultimate Workout” title scare you! The motto is “do your best and forget the rest.” And if you have always wanted to try Zumba but have been afraid you’d be left behind, try our Zumba Step by Step and enjoy this introduction to all of the moves with others who are learning too (p. 33).

So lots to enjoy this spring. Ideas for a new class? As always, feel free to email me.

In partnership with you,

Peggy Raun-Linde, Ed.D.Principal

Introduction to Google DocsDid you know that Google offers a complete online set of document, presentation, spreadsheet tools, and more? Once called “Google Docs” the suite of tools is now called “Google Drive” and lets you develop, store, use, and share your information via the Web. In this class we will get an overview of the tools which make up the Google Docs/Drive set and what features the various tools have in common. You need to have a Google account (gmail or PicasaWeb) so that you can use the tools. (We can set you up in class if necessary.) Google Docs/Drive works via a web browser, so they work on PCs, Macs, smartphones, etc. A general knowledge of your computer is expected, and laptops are welcome.
