UPCOMING EVENTSApril 14, 2019: 1-3pmKim Lordier Landscape in Pastels

Kim Lordier is a distin-guished plein air pastel land-scape artist and is a native of the Bay Area.

Her work is exhibited in prestigious art galleries in the western United States and is in private collections and in art museums through-out the country. She is a sought-after workshop presenter.

Kim received a BFA in Illustration from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco in 1989. Her work has been show-cased on the cover of Art of the West, Southwest Art, The Pastel Journal, PleinAir Magazine, and Fine Art Connoisseur. Acknowl-edged by jurors and her peers, Kim has received recognition for her landscapes at major plein air events, international magazine competitions, national pastel society shows, and museum exhibitions.

Kim is a Signature Member of the California Art Club, the Pastel Society of America, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and a Distinguished Pastelist of the Pastel Society of the West Coast. Refer to her website kimfancherlordier.com for more information.

March 10, 2019: 1-3pmJan Silverman How to Photograph Your Art

Jan Silverman will cover the basics on how to photograph your art, what to look for in photo editing software, about image file formats, how to match a print to your original, and other things to create quality digital images of your art and possibly give you a competitive edge.

Jan holds multiple engineering degrees and had a successful career in hi-tech Marketing. Realizing photo processing labs couldn’t match the colors and tones on his monitor, he created “Artistry Printing”, a photo printing company that uses state-of-the-art equipment and museum grade materials. He taught courses in digital printing at the Aperture Academy in San Jose, CA.

Jan photographs artwork and makes giclee copies for the Pacific Art League, the Woodside Gallery, the Peninsula Gallery, the Martha Hewett Gallery in Cincinnati, and for many private custom-ers. He became the printer of fine-art and metal prints for Keeble & Shuchut’s in Palo Alto and San Jose Camera & Video. He currently works out of his studio in Los Gatos, CA. Jill Pipkin teaches beginning digital photography at Santa Clara Adult Education at 1840 Benton St. in Santa Clara. The class is focused on learning how to use the options/controls on the camera to give you a picture you won’t have to work on with Editing Software like PhotoShop, etc. The next class begins on March 6 at 6:30 pm — 9 pm. Nina Brickner Has five pieces of her artwork in an exhibit entitled "Color Creates Mood" at Los Altos Library with Beyond The Obvious artists until February 28th.

Jill Kroh’s acrylic mixed media painting, "View of the Regatta", was exhibited in the Santa Cruz Art League's "Members A-L Exhibition", Jan-Feb.

Nancy Takaichi was accepted to paint in the Los Gatos Plein Air 2019 event in June.

Al Shamble was honored to receive "Signa-ture Artist" status at the annual meeting of the Monterey Bay Plein Air Association (MBPAPA) in January. Al also has been accepted to paint in the Los Gatos Plein Air 2019 event in June.

The ArtNow Exhibition and supporting programs offer opportunities for high school student artists, from Palo Alto to Gilroy, to gain real-world experience in participating in a juried museum exhibition. Each year, a new theme is chosen for the exhibition and students are asked to submit works based on that theme. $10,000 in scholarships and awards are given to participat-ing students.
