NEW GUIDELINES FOR OPERATION

This morning we see some restrictions lifted for our schools and the implementation of a new set of guidelines governing our operations. As of today we can now have:

• 15 minute school assemblies • Inter school activities • Field trips into our community • School photos

We are also able to reopen our school's Community Hall to community users where classes are for children such as Wednesday's Dance Classes and to other Community groups involving adult classes over the weekends. At the start of next term there will be further easing of restrictions allowing the following:

• School sport to resume • Inter-school sporting competitions • External providers such as sports

organisations to resume programs • Scripture and Ethics lessons • P&C meetings (with zoom meetings

still preferred where possible) Other school activities such as overnight excursions and parent volunteer programs are still under consideration for next term and we will keep you informed of the advice as it comes to us. At this point we are still asking parents not to come into the school and to continue to socially distance from each other at pick up and drop off times. We thank you for your assistance with this as the health and safety of our staff and community remains a high priority. A full version of the guidelines outlined above was distributed today via the School Stream App. AURORA APPLICATIONS FOR YEAR 4

Any Year 4 students wishing to apply to Aurora for 2021 - applications close Friday 26th June. You will need to access the online application at https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5

SPECIAL P&C HELD LAST THURSDAY

Last Thursday afternoon a meeting with the CHPS P&C Exec was held off site at the Lion's Club Hall. The very small group sat at socially appropriate distances as part of a very short but productive meeting. This was a great opportunity to plan for events for the remainder of the year. Thanks to the Lion's Club of Crescent Head for the use of this space.

MUSICA VIVA WITH A DIFFERENCE – WEDNESDAY 24TH JUNE AT 10AM

Next Wednesday we will be virtually hosting the Taikoz Musica Viva group who will be Zooming into our school from their respective homes in Melbourne. "From the small, high-pitched shimedaiko to the deep base tones of the odaiko, Taikoz’s taiko combine with soulful bamboo flutes and spirited movement to create a varied and entertaining concert suitable for all ages.” This promises to be a fantastic show for our students and a wonderful learning opportunity. We are excited to present this as an online performance where students will still be involved with the performers! Please return note and payment of $5 per student to secure your seat!

CHPS SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY

Wearing our uniform promotes a sense of belonging for students and creates a positive identity for the school community.

The NSW Department of Education strongly encourages the wearing of school uniform in all state public schools. The Crescent Head Public School P&C and all staff at the school support this view.

Crescent Head Public School colours are Royal Blue and Yellow. These colours depict the ocean, sun and sand of Crescent Head. Please help us maintain our pride in our school and our uniform by observing our uniform policy. Should you need to add additional layers we ask that they please be in our school colours.

BEANIES FOR BRAIN CANCER THIS THURSDAY

CHPS is holding a ‘Beanie for Brain Cancer’ fundraiser this week. This Thursday 18th June students are invited to wear a beanie to school and bring a gold coin donation to help raise funds for research into brain cancer.

STUDENTS NOT TO BE ON SITE BEFORE 8.30AM

PLEASE NOTE: We wish to remind parents and carers that students who are not using the OOSH service at CHPS should NOT be at school before 8.30am. Please don’t assume that because a car is in the car park that a teacher is available to supervise students prior to 8.30am as student supervision does not commence until 8.30am. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this matter. MOBILE PHONES AT SCHOOL

We have found an increase in the number of students who are bringing mobile devices to school. Mobile phones owned by students at CHPS are considered valuable items and are brought to school at the owner’s (student’s or parent/carer’s) risk.

Students are encouraged not to bring a mobile phone to school unless there is a compelling reason to do so. We understand that students may need to communicate with their family due to travel and afternoon commitments and therefore we request that those students hand their mobile phone into the school administration office to be stored securely.

PLEASE INFORM OF COVID TESTING

We ask parents/carers of students who are unwell to please inform the school if your child has been tested for covid-19 and the results. It is a requirement of all schools to record this information.

PLEASE LABEL JACKETS

As the cooler weather is now here and students are wearing their CHPS jackets to school, we ask that parents and carers check that jackets are clearly labelled with student’s name and that the jacket they have doesn’t belong to another student.

SCHOOLSTREAM REMINDER

You can find Schoolstream via the App Store or Google Play by searching for Schoolstream and typing in Crescent Head Public School when prompted.

This is an essential communication tool with our parent body and we hope many families are proactive with this reminder.

SCHOOL CONTRIBUTION FEE

All families are asked to contribute to the cost of supplying students with all the learning materials provided by the school. The cost of resources used every day in the classrooms, including books, pencils, pens, paper, art supplies, craft supplies, printer ink, readers etc…. is ever increasing.

The P&C has endorsed contribution amount at: • $49 per student • $120 for 3 students or more

This school contribution can be made at the school office at any time and will greatly assist the school in off-setting the cost of providing equitable new and quality resources and materials for all students in our school.

CANTEEN

We wish to advise that the CHPS Canteen will be closed until further notice due to the current health situation.
