The ride down was made more difficult by a steady headwind and a not quite run out tide. However, despite this all students successfully made the ride in good time and arrived at the camp. This year the students were housed in four rooms inside a bunk house which gave us exclusive use of the second camp kitchen. The Monday afternoon was spent playing games on the beach. The Tuesday was quite wet in the morning with rain making the campgrounds and roads quite slippery. The afternoon was spent taking part in board games with a twist around another leadership lesson before we rode to Sunset beach to take part in the Occy Straps of Life challenge. The group then returned to the camp before going to The Bush Kitchen for pizzas. Wednesday morning was spent taking part in the final leadership lesson and surfing before riding back to the school in time for the bus. Thank you to Waves Campground, Crescent Head Learn to Surf and The Bush Kitchen for your hospitality during this camp and Mrs Lamb, Mr Lobb and Mrs Munday for donating your time to the leadership learning of our senior students.

SENIOR STUDENTS BRAVE OUT A SOGGY DELICATE CAMP

BIG VEGIE CRUNCH

Congratulations to the 157 Crescent Head Public School students that participated in the Big Vegie Crunch at School last Thursday. A BIG thank you to Belinda and Troy from Woolworths Kempsey who donated, delivered and cut-up a HUGE box of fruit and vegies for the students to share. We were also lucky to have Alison Walton, who is a Mid North Coast Health Promotions Officer, join in the fun and crunching on the day. Congratulations also to Mr D who now holds the title of ‘Fastest Cucumber Eater in the School!’ The officials are still crunching the numbers for the 2019 event. So far they have 35 453 students who crunched simultaneously at 10am on Thursday 4th April and 11 142 students who crunched at another time over Vegetable Week. Final numbers will be available later this week. Well done to all you CHPS vegie eaters! Don’t forget to keep crunching those vegies, both at school and at home.

YEAR 6 SHIRTS

The Year 6 Shirt order form was sent home with students last week. All orders must be back at school by this Wednesday 10th April. Shirts do not have to be paid for until they have arrived at school so please get those notes back in to the office as soon as possible!

EASTER HAT PARADE THIS FRIDAY 12TH APRIL AT 10AM

It is that time of year again where the imaginations of our students, and some of our parents, can come alive as we design this year’s Easter Hat Parade creations. This year’s parade will take place at 10am this Friday morning and, as always, promises to be an event filled with colour, creativity and a little bit of chocolate. All are welcome to come along and join us in this event. Our Easter Raffle prizes will be drawn on Friday also with lots of prizes available so be sure not to miss out on buying tickets. We ask that all raffle ticket books please be returned by Thursday 11th April.

ANZAC DAY SERVICE DURING HOLIDAYS

P&C NEWS

The CHPS P&C are a dedicated group of parents and community members who meet on the first Thursday of the month to discuss and plan fundraising events that benefit our fabulous school. The P&C are looking for more volunteers to attend the monthly meetings and offer input into issues and events and volunteer some time for the occasional fundraiser. These meetings are fun and we are keen for some new ideas. Our AGM has already been held so we are not looking to fill positions on the committee, just encourage more individuals to attend. If you have any questions regarding meetings please call Sam Townsend on 0429 497 678.

The P&C wish to thank Darren Gunn at the Crescent Head Tavern. The P&C raffled a meat tray on Sunday and made $240 for our school.

FIRE SAFETY CLEAN UP UNDERWAY

There is currently a team of workers cleaning up the gardens, trees and bushlands in our school to make the grounds better prepared in the case of bush fires. They are reducing fuel around our gardens and grounds and creating less low down fire hazards by cutting back undergrowth. This work will continue again this Thursday and is expected to be finished by Friday afternoon.
