Creating a (Free!) Account in WordPress
Why Do I Need a WordPress Account?
• WordPress.com is a free site that Counseling & Guidance uses to make web pages and blogs.
• There is no charge for a WordPress account. • Without a WordPress account, you won’t be able
to access informational pages that the C & G program uses to distribute information.
• Once you create this account, all of the information is available to you through MYUTBTSC (our Blackboard portal).

1 . Type www.wordpress.com in your browser’s address bar. 2. Click on the orange “Sign up now” button.

3. Click on “Sign up for just a username. It can be any name you want, but please make it something recognizable for your classmates and me! Don’t type in a Blog Address – all you need is a Username.
4. Fill in the other information required. 5. Click on the gray “Sign up” button.

6. WordPress will send an email to the address that you used when you signed up. Check your email now.

7. You will find an e-mail from WordPress with the link for the activation of your account. Open it and access the link to finish the process.

8. Log in to your WordPress account.
9. Fill in your first name and last name only.

10. Scroll down on the same page (titled “My Public Profile”), and click on “Add Photo Through Gravatar.”

11. Click on “Choose File.”

12. Choose the file that has your picture. 13. Click “Choose.”

14. You’re finished creating your account!
15. Login to Blackboard and go to any courses that are using WordPress, including the “Program Orientation.” You should see your WordPress tools at the top of the page.

TROUBLESHOOTING: Q: What if my picture isn’t visible? A: Click on the “Me” drop down menu and select “Edit My Profile.” Follow the steps again for adding a photo using Gravatar.
TROUBLESHOOTING Q: What if I don’t see my WordPress profile when I login in to Blackboard courses that use Blackboard? A: Go to WordPress and login. Then go back to Blackboard and you should see your WordPress menu bar.
