AntiSpam Bee is a personal favorite when it comes to monitoring spam comments. Akismet comes with WordPress; however to use it on business sites, you have to pay for their services, whereas AntiSpam Bee is free.

AntiSpam Bee is also much easier to configure. There is only one settings panel and no need to go and register an API key.

Always have a backup to your website, ALWAYS.

There is one thing that we humans always forget to do and that is backup our digital stuff. We all know that hard drives can and will crash eventually, well, the same holds true for web servers.

WP-DBManager will backup your SQL database in a regular interval that you set. From daily to monthly, you choose how much data you can afford to lose. Once it’s backed up it sends the .sql file to you in an email.

Theme Authenticity Checker

This a very useful plugin that needs to be installed and run anytime you download a new theme, especially free themes.

The plugin will scan the source code of your theme to make sure no encrypted code is found that would cause your site to not run properly.

This is also a great tool to use when you think your files might be infected by a virus.
