This project helped our youth realize that they could make an impact on the youth of their community. To start this project the kids and staff contacted the Children’s Hospital of Renown to get a list of what they needed to help bring joy to children being treated. These items were then written on the leaves of our giving tree and families and community members were asked to donate the items listed on the leaves. The result of this simple act of kindness was *** care packages to be donated. These packages will help to make the stay at the hospital more comfortable, safe and fun for children of all ages. Thank you to all who participated!! February 2016

Have you heard about Developmental Assets?

The Developmental Asset Framework was developed by the Search Institute in 1991. This Framework has helped us to identify ways to help youth become more successful and resilient as they grow. They have identified 40 Developmental Assets that will help youth to succeed. 20 of these Assets are internal (youth have to develop within) and 20 of these Assets are external (we can provide these to the youth).

At Comstock Kids and VC S.O.A.R.S. we work from this framework to incorporate ways to help youth increase the number of Developmental Assets they possess each day. Please look here every month for more information on this very interesting and important idea! Also, if you would like any more information before then please see Michael-Ann.
