JOSSIE MALISNacido en Perú en 1976, Malis es un ilustrador y animadorque vive en Barcelona, desarrollando proyectos de anima-ción y otras piruetas visuales. En los últimos años ha pro-ducido cortometrajes, series de animación, videoclips yvarios proyectos relacionados principalmente con los ojos,las manos y el cerebro.

Jossie Malis (Perú 76) is an illustrator and animator livingin Barcelona and working mostly in animation and perfor-ming other visual acts. In recent years, he has producedshort films, animation series, music videos and an array ofprojects related mostly with eyes, hands and brain.

RODRIGO BLAASRodrigo Blaas trabaja en el ámbito de la animación desdehace más de diez años. Es animador de Pixar desde haceseis, y ha participado en proyectos como Buscando aNemo, Los Increíbles, Cars, Ratatouille y WALL-E. Empezóa trabajar para los estudios Blue Sky en 2000, donde reali-zó la animación de su primer largometraje, Ice Age. En2007, Rodrigo decidió dirigir su primer cortometraje, Alma,con un equipo internacional: participaron en el proyectoartistas de España, Francia y Estados Unidos.

Rodrigo Blaas has worked in animation for more than tenyears. He has been an Animator at Pixar for six years, andhas worked on projects like Finding Nemo, TheIncredibles, Cars, Ratatouille and WALL-E. He joined BlueSky Studio in 2000 where he worked on his first featurefilm, Ice Age. In 2007, Rodrigo decided to direct his firstshort film, Alma, with an international team: artists fromSpain, France and the US have taken part in this project.

TIM TRAVERS HAWKINSTim Travers Hawkins empezó a estudiar Cine en BuenosAires y continuó su formación en la Escuela Internacionalde Cine (EICTV) de La Habana. También es licenciado enCiencias Políticas y Español por la Universidad de Bristol.En 2007 fundó el colectivo M-Cinemachete, surgido de laescena artística underground de Bogotá, Colombia. Hacreado una fascinante colección de trabajos, que incluyevideoinstalaciones, documentales y cortometrajes. 1,000Voices es su primera película de animación.

Tim Travers Hawkins began studying film in Buenos Aires.He then went on to study at the International Film School(EICTV) in Havana. He also has a BA in Politics and Spanishfrom Bristol University. In 2007 he founded the collectiveM-Cinemachete, born out of the underground arts scene inBogotá, Colombia. He has already created a compellingseries of works comprising video installations, documenta-ries and short films. 1,000 Voices is his first animated film.

Una joven a la que no le gusta su físicoencuentra dos piernas artificiales en unahabitación del hotel en el que trabaja, lo quele lleva a utilizar trucos para cambiar suaspecto. Cuando se da cuenta de que no esla única que lo hace, decide optar por unaalternativa diferente.

A young maid who does not like her physicalappearance finds two artificial legs in aroom of the hotel she works in. It leads herto using tricks to change her appearance.She realizes that she is not the only one whocheats, and she finally decides to make adifferent choice.

Ha trabajado como animador de referencia yartista de storyboard en la segunda temporada de la serieinfantil Pocoyó. También ha trabajado como ilustrador ennumerosas ocasiones para la BBC Two, BBC World y parala compañía Movilitas.

He made About Sofia (2005) and My Grandmother (2004)while studying at the Royal College of Art of London. Theyearned twelve international awards and were selected atmore than 100 festivals, including Annecy and Chicago. Hehas worked as a main animator and storyboard artist onthe second season of the children’s series Pocoyó. He hasalso worked as an illustrator on numerous occasions forthe BBC Two, BBC World and for the company Movilitas.

After winning several awards as an author and comic stripillustrator, he joined the animation studio Kandor Graphicsin 2006 to create characters, props, sets, storyboards, pos-ters and merchandising. From the beginning, he participa-ted on El lince perdido, the best animated full-length filmat Animadrid 2008 and 2009 Goya-winner for Best SpanishAnimated Film. La dama y la muerte is his first film as adirector and screenwriter.

Una anciana espera morir para poder reen-contrarse con su difunto marido. Cuando porfin su vida se desvanece, renace súbita-mente en un quirófano: se inicia así unalucha frenética entre la propia muerte y unarrogante doctor.

An elderly woman is waiting to die in orderto rejoin her deceased husband. When sheis finally passing away, she is suddenlyreborn in an operating room, thus beginninga frantic fight between the reaper and anarrogant doctor.

Daniel, un niño de 13 años, siempre ha pen-sado que su padre no le quiere. De hecho,sabe que su padre tiene la culpa de que sumadre y su hermana se hayan ido de casa yno hayan vuelto.

En 2001 emigra aBarcelona, donde comienza a trabajar en cortometrajes deanimación junto a Adriana Delfino.

THEODORE USHEVSe hizo un nombre como diseñador de carteles en Bulgaria,antes de trasladarse a Montreal en 1999. Allí no tardó endarse a conocer como un animador prolífico y de talento,con películas como Vertical (2003) y The Man WhoWaited (2006). Administra la página web mortade-llatv.com y en 2006 realizó, en el NFB, el cortometraje deanimación Sou para móviles.

He first made a name as a poster designer in Bulgaria,before moving to Montreal in 1999. Posteriormente, realizó algunaspelículas para museos y teatros, y trabajó en una serie detelevisión y varios largometrajes. Como músico que es,compone la banda sonora de todas sus películas.

She has produced and directed 19films about subjects dear to her heart: relationships,plants, magic, menopause, abstraction and prison. Realizaron lacabecera de Las noticias del guiñol para Canal+.Actualmente han finalizado la serie ¿Y por qué?, y estánen la producción de su segunda parte, Pasea.

Virginia Curiá and Tomás Conde began their productionwork with the music video Alegrías de Puerta Tierra in1994, and have since carried out a number of advertisingcampaigns, films such as Os difuntos falaban Castelao,Meigallos, sombras e papas de arroz and A escola dasareas, among others. They made the ident of Las noticiasdel guiñol for Canal +. They have recently completed theseries ¿Y por qué?, and they are in pre-production of itssecond part Pasea.

KAJ DRIESSENNació en 1970 en Montreal. En los noventa se licenció enla Academia de Bellas Artes de Utrecht, y posteriormentese formó para dirigir a actores. Ha trabajado como primerayudante de dirección en multitud de películas, series detelevisión y anuncios publicitarios. Desde 1997 ha escritoy dirigido varios cortometrajes y episodios de series detelevisión.

After having written several original scenarios for fictionand animated films, he directed his “choreographic trilogy”:Signes de vie (2004),À l’ombre du voile (2006) and L’Évasion(2007). Estudió animación en la EscuelaSuperior de Artes, Oficios y Diseño de Konstfack, Suecia.Desde 2005 es profesor de Animación en la AcademiaLetona de las Artes, y en 2007 fundó el estudio de anima-ción Lunohod en Riga, Letonia.

En la actualidad es profesor deAnimación en la Escuela de Arte y Diseño de Minneapolis.Ka-Chew! representa su trabajo publicitario y ha dirigidoanuncios para Kashi, Samsung y Hertz. Tom has been making animated films since 1990. He hasreceived Minnesota State Arts Board Grants in 1991, 1999and 2006, Jerome Film and Video Grants in 2000 and 2004,Bush Fellowships in 1997 and 2008. Tom teaches anima-tion at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He isrepresented for commercial work by Ka-Chew!, and hasdirected ads for Kashi, Samsung and Hertz. His films haveplayed widely on the international film festival circuit andhave won many awards.

Born in 1976. Since 2002 she has been working at theCamera Enfants Admis animation workshop. She has beenan educator at the Cinematographic Meetings in Cannes,and she also organized an introductory workshop of anima-ted film at the Anima Festival (from 2003-2005).

A 2005 graduate in Plastic Arts with specialization inAnimation from the National Higher School of the VisualArts of La Cambre, Brussels, she has directed such films asL’enveloppe jaune (2008), Oc bidrar (2005), Une bouteillede lait (2004), Voisins (2003) and Arêtes (2002).

JOANA TOSTENació en 1970. Se licenció en Diseño Industrial por el IADEy estudió Pintura dos años en la Sociedade Nacional deBelas Artes de Lisboa, así como Animación en Tobistoon.No ha dejado de trabajar en animación, colaborando condistintos estudios y desarrollando sus propios proyectos.Trabaja simultáneamente en el ámbito de la ilustración, laescenografía teatral, la orientación para talleres infantilesy el diseño de páginas web.

Born in 1970, she graduated in Industrial Design from theIADE and did two years of Painting Studies at theSociedade Nacional de Belas Artes de Lisboa and didAnimation Studies at Tobistoon. She never stopped wor-king in animation, collaborating with several studios anddeveloping her own projects. She works simultaneously inillustration, theatre backgrounds, orientation of workshopsfor children and website creation.
