The holidays bring a wave of hope and cheerful-ness every year. Everyone’s high spirits are noticed as soon as the first of December rolls around and the Pandora Holiday playlist is bookmarked on your computer. And what else would you need to brighten your spirits but your first present, a special issue of Clutch! It is my hope that each one of you enjoy your holiday season, whatever you may be doing or celebrating, in style. Picnic and GeocachingAdventurous types, take note: if the weather’s clear, try your hand at geocaching—a localized treasure hunt. With a handy GPS-enabled smartphone, explore the outdoors with your companion and find caches hidden around your town or local parks. Pack a picnic basket loaded with food and hot chocolate to sustain you through your hunt—and plenty of desserts for afterward. If you can’t think of sweet treats to bake, take a piece of advice from Buddy the Elf: “Stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup.” Layer up for the climate outside by pairing together thick leggings with high knit socks, putting on some combat boots and rocking a long-sleeve thermal sweater on top. Wrap an infinity scarf around your neck and layer on those necklaces, too.

HomestyleIt’s time for a fresh update from the boring ol’ dinner-and-a-movie date night agenda. Instead of shelling out twenty bucks for two tickets at the theaters, throw your own private Christmas film festival, complete with fresh-baked snacks. Substitute your usual bucket of popcorn with some sugar cookies and decorate them with your significant other. Snuggle up to one another and complete your night with your favorite holiday flicks—even if that includes 8 Crazy Nights.

Go for a more relaxed look for your stay-at-home rendezvous. Throw on skinny cordu-roys and a pair of chic slippers. Top your outfit off with a cozy knit boyfriend cardigan.

Christmas LightsThere hardly exists a better way to get in the holiday spirit than travelling around town with your other half to scope out the best lights in town. Try searching around your city for fairs or festivals for delicious food and dazzling light shows—or just spot them around your own neighborhood. To complete the night, blast your favorite Christmas jams as you ride around. Give the sparkling lights a run for their money in a sequin mini layered over tights and high-heeled booties. Pick a sheer white blouse and throw a leather jacket over it for an extra edge!

First, play with a state ment piece, whether it’s an oversized cocktail ring or a CLUTCH favorite: a statement coat. Find a coat in a bold color like cherry red or cobalt blue. A statement coat will go with any-thing from your LBD to your fa-vorite denim jeans.

The holiday season is all about sparkle and shine—So, what could be more appropriate than wear-ing sequins? Try an embellished skirt paired with a slouchy sweater to add the right amount of sparkle. An ideal partner to sequins is faux fur. Layer a faux fur vest over your cocktail dress or add a fur-trimmed cardigan belted at your waist. Faux fur adds an instant glamour-effect perfect for the holiday season.

As mentioned before, the holidays are all about trying the sea-son’s most coveted fabrics. Vel-vet happens to be one of them. Try a subtle pop of rich velvet, whether it’s a velvet clutch (just like our CLUTCH Fall 2011 is-sue’s cover) or an embellish-ment on a headband. It’s an op-ulent fabric, but definitely one that makes you feel like royalty. Have fun with fashion during the holidays and remember that with these easy tips you can cre-ate a sizzling holiday look in no time.

The holidays are always a great time to try out new things,from new winter accessories to that delicious seasonal drink that only comes out once a year. Mixing the old and new can create something just as won-derful and merry as Christmas morning itself, so why not try out a new hydrating facemask during those chilly winter eve-nings? Winter always brings along dry skin that is not only tight and uncomfort-able, but also causes dead skin cells to pile up on top of skin, clogging pores and making makeup lay rough and patchy. Keep your moisture levels up with this easy and cheap holiday mask!

Ingredients    3 tsp. pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling!)    ½ tsp. honey     ¼ tsp. milk/ buttermilk or whipping cream     Optional: Add oats to help buff and exfo-liate those dry skin cells off!

Directions1) Combine all ingredients in bowl and mix until smooth2) Apply the mask to your face and leave on 10 minutes3) Rinse

Make sure to follow this mask with a proper moisturizer every day—both at night and in the morning to keep your skin from dry-ing out. Retaining that moisture in your skin through these dry holiday months will keep your face glowing, fresh, and ready to ring in the New Year!
