The fence is now up and around some key projects within our Mixed-Use Town Center. The projects range from new apartments, net zero homes, commercial spaces and new businesses. Our volunteer commiees gives us their input and our staff is working around the clock. We are excited about the opportunies that exist within our City in bringing new jobs, over 250 new residenal units (including market rate and senior living) and new businesses to the City. Our commiees consist of a dedicated team of volunteers that help us along the way from development to our sustainability efforts. As the clock goes back and the days are shorter let’s all be mindful of our seniors, pedestrians and ongoing traffic. People are walking and texng or using headphones and we should be aware of the potenal danger. Also, I would ask as we walk our dogs in the neighborhood that we curb our dogs and pick up aſter them. La ciudad de Mount Rainier está en constante evolución como ciudad y trabajando para lograr un equilibrio perfecto! El muro es ahora hacia arriba y alrededor algunos proyectos claves dentro de nuestro centro de uso mixto. La gama de proyectos de apartamentos; neto cero viviendas, espacios comerciales y nuevos negocios. Nuestros comités voluntarios nos da su aporte y nuestro personal está trabajando todo el día. The City of Mount Rainier is constantly evolving as a City and working towards striking a perfect balance! The fence is now up and around some key projects within our Mixed-Use Town Center. The projects range from new apartments, net zero homes, commercial spaces and new businesses.
Our volunteer committees gives us their input and our staff is working around the clock. We are excited about the opportunities that exist within our City in bringing new jobs, over 250 new residential units (including market rate and senior living) and new businesses to the City. Our committees consist of a dedicated team of volunteers that help us along the way from development to our sustainability efforts.
As the clock goes back and the days are shorter let’s all be mindful of our seniors, pedestrians and ongoing traffic. People are walking and texting or using headphones and we should be aware of the potential danger. Did you know? City Code Section 10-122. Working on motor vehicles is restricted. It is unlawful for any person to perform mechanical or body work of any kind on any automobile, truck or other motor vehicle on residential property in the City of Mount Rainier in a location which is visible from a street, sidewalk, or other public right-of-way, except when the work is maintenance or minor repairs to an automobile, truck or other motor vehicle of the owner or occupant of the property. For illustrative purposes only, examples of such work would include tune-up, oil change, tire change, and other small activities that do not totally disable the vehicle for more than a few hours.

within the Mixed Use Town Center (MUTC) zone.
The City of Mount Rainier was
awarded a grant from Maryland's Department of Housing and
Community Development (DHCD), Community Legacy Program to
support the development of the Town Center Business Attraction and
Expansion Program for exterior and interior building improvements in Mount Rainier's Mixed-Use Town
Center (MUTC) zone.
Applications for assistance will be available in Fall 2015 to all eligible
businesses located within the MUTC zone.
The MUTC Zone consists of licensed commercial businesses located on
34th Street and Rhode Island Avenue.

The important part of Halloween is having fun, and the most important thing about having fun is to have it safely. Listed below are a few of the more important safety tips to help parents and children H a night of fun without incurring the risk of future nightmares. Help your child pick out or make
a costume that will be safe. Make it fire proof, and if you use a mask, be sure that the eyeholes are large enough for good peripheral vision. It is always better to use non-allergenic face paint rather than wearing a mask.
It is always best to use a non-
flame light source to illuminate your decorative jack-o-lanterns. If you set jack-o-lanterns on your porch with candles in them, be sure that they are far enough out of the way so that kids’ costumes won’t be accidentally set on fire.
Make sure your child carries a
flashlight, glow stick or has reflective tape on their costume to make them more visible to cars.
Treating your kids to a spooky Halloween dinner will make them less likely to eat the candy they collect before you have the chance to check it for them. Instruct your children not to eat any treats until they bring them home to be examined by you.
Review with your children some basic personal safety tips such as not getting into cars or talking to strangers, and watching both ways before crossing streets.
Let your children know not to cut
through back alleys and fields. Make sure they know to stay in populated places and don't go off the beaten track. Stay in well-lighted areas.
It is important that younger
children not be permitted to go out Trick or Treating by themselves without some
adult supervision. It is a good rule of thumb to have at least one adult for every 3-5 children in a group.
Make sure you set a time by
which the children should be home, and be sure to stress to them the importance of being home on time before they leave.
Explain to your children the
difference between tricks and vandalism. Throwing eggs or papering a house may seem like fun, but they need to know that this is unacceptable behavior. Damaging someone’s property or causing them a lot of messy clean up is not fun. Clean up, having to pay for damages and other legal repercussions can ruin Halloween for both children and their parents. The Mount Rainier Police Department is extremely intolerant of vandalism of any sort, regardless of a person’s age.

Jessica Love comes from Pennsylvania with a degree from Franklin and Marshall College in Environmental studies. Jessica will be with us for an entire year as part of the Chesapeake Conservation Corps Program through The Chesapeake Bay Trust. In our

You can also offer non-food treats such as plastic rings, pencils, stickers, erasers, or other small school supplies. §

The important part of Halloween is having fun, and the most important thing about having fun is to have it safely. Listed below are a few of the more important safety tips to help parents and children H a night of fun without incurring the risk of future nightmares. Help your child pick out or make
a costume that will be safe. Make it fire proof, and if you use a mask, be sure that the eyeholes are large enough for good peripheral vision. It is always better to use non-allergenic face paint rather than wearing a mask.
It is always best to use a non-
flame light source to illuminate your decorative jack-o-lanterns. If you set jack-o-lanterns on your porch with candles in them, be sure that they are far enough out of the way so that kids’ costumes won’t be accidentally set on fire.
Make sure your child carries a
flashlight, glow stick or has reflective tape on their costume to make them more visible to cars.
Treating your kids to a spooky Halloween dinner will make them less likely to eat the candy they collect before you have the chance to check it for them. Instruct your children not to eat any treats until they bring them home to be examined by you.
Review with your children some basic personal safety tips such as not getting into cars or talking to strangers, and watching both ways before crossing streets.
Let your children know not to cut
through back alleys and fields. Make sure they know to stay in populated places and don't go off the beaten track. Stay in well-lighted areas.
It is important that younger
children not be permitted to go out Trick or Treating by themselves without some
adult supervision. It is a good rule of thumb to have at least one adult for every 3-5 children in a group.
Make sure you set a time by
which the children should be home, and be sure to stress to them the importance of being home on time before they leave.
Explain to your children the
difference between tricks and vandalism. Throwing eggs or papering a house may seem like fun, but they need to know that this is unacceptable behavior. Damaging someone’s property or causing them a lot of messy clean up is not fun. Clean up, having to pay for damages and other legal repercussions can ruin Halloween for both children and their parents. The Mount Rainier Police Department is extremely intolerant of vandalism of any sort, regardless of a person’s age.

The City of Mount Rainier is constantly evolving as a City and working towards striking a perfect balance! The fence is now up and around some key projects within our Mixed-Use Town Center. The projects range from new apartments, net zero homes, commercial spaces and new businesses.
Our volunteer committees gives us their input and our staff is working around the clock. We are excited about the opportunities that exist within our City in bringing new jobs, over 250 new residential units (including market rate and senior living) and new businesses to the City. Our committees consist of a dedicated team of volunteers that help us along the way from development to our sustainability efforts.
As the clock goes back and the days are shorter let’s all be mindful of our seniors, pedestrians and ongoing traffic. People are walking and texting or using headphones and we should be aware of the potential danger. Also, I would ask as we walk our dogs in the neighborhood that we curb our dogs and pick up after them.

Nuestros comités consisten en un dedicado equipo de voluntarios que nos ayudan en el camino de desarrollo a los esfuerzos de sostenibilidad.
Como el reloj va hacia atrás y los días son más cortos, vamos a ser conscientes de las personas mayores, peatones y tráfico continuo. Personas son caminar y mensajes de texto o usar auriculares y debemos ser conscientes del peligro potencial.
El mes pasado, nos desafió a todos a pagar hacia adelante nuestras escuelas primarias. omo un seguimiento, se estar revisando con nuestras escuelas en las actividades, proyectos y suministros para ver cómo podemos apoyarlos a lo largo de todo el año escolar. También, le pido que cumplimos los perros en el barrio que controlar a nuestros perros y
