DEVELOPMENT NEWS

All School and New Family BBQ

Our All School and New Family BBQ is June 3rd at 11:45am. We will

be starting with a short prayer service and then will announce our recip-

ients of the Volunteer Award and the Parish Service Award. Education-

al Outfitters will be on campus for you to try on uniforms for next

year. You can take an order form and place your order online to save

time. Educational Outfitters will deliver the uniforms to CKS so you

don’t have to pay shipping costs. Our BBQ this year will take place on

N 117th Street (between Dayton and Phinney Ave N). We are CLOS-

ING THE STREET (already permitted through the city). Therefore,

please be sure NOT to park on N 117th between 10am and 2pm that

day. The BBQ will be picnic style, so please bring a blanket, a beach

chair, or something to sit on. The grassy area by the church is a perfect

place to sit and eat. If you would like to volunteer for the event, please

click on the sign up genius link. http://www.signupgenius.com/

Volunteer Hours – Time to submit!!! The end of the school year is fast approaching! It’s time to submit the

last of your volunteer hours. I will be compiling the data this week, but

you still have until the end of the year to submit hours. There are still

plenty of opportunities to get your hours in. We need all hands on deck

for the MOVE. Remember that CKS families are required to complete

50 volunteer hours (25 single parent) for the school year with 10 hours

dedicated to fundraising activities. Families will reimburse the school

at the rate of $15/hour for every volunteer hour not completed. Please

submit your hours at http://school.ckseattle.org/index.cfm?

load=page&page=271. Thank you for volunteering. It’s what makes

our school so special – having dedicated families contributing to the

CKS community.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

Jesus, Our Savior, please help anyone who is ill and in need of special

care especially Mrs. Rowe, Mrs. Lundquist, and Greg Norwine, we pray

the Lord.

Father in Heaven, who brings comfort and care to the parents who have

lost children and family members in the Oklahoma tornado and other cri-

sis around the world, we ask for this compassion, we pray to the Lord.

O’ Holy Spirit, who helps every CKS student as well as all students learn

and grow closer to you, we especially ask for safety, protection, and abil-

ity to learn at this time, we pray to the Lord.

CYO NEWS

Please return CYO uniforms

Parents: Please check your closets and return all CYO uni-

forms to the school office prior to June 7. Replacing lost and

non-returned uniforms is a significant and unnecessary cost

to the CYO program. Returning uniforms in a timely manner

helps us keep our registration fees down. Please email

[email protected] for more information.

HEATHER DAWSON NOMINATED FOR PRESTIGIOUS CHOREGRAPHY AWARD

Congratulations to Heather Dawson, who has been nominated for The Fifth Ave High School Theater Awards for her choreography work on Seattle Prep's musical this year. (Partial quote from Adam Othman) Today the nominations for the 5th Avenue Theatre High School Awards were announced and I am happy to report we received nominations in the following categories: Outstanding Choreography (nomination) to Heather Dawson (with a personal shout out to the Follies Girls) The 5th Avenue Theatre evaluated 105 schools this year all over Washington State and it is a great honor to be nominated or receive an honorable mention. I am so proud of the hard work and dedication everyone put into the show allowing Crazy for You and Seattle Prep to be recognized. What are the 5th Avenue Awards? Each year the 5th Avenue Theatre presents awards to outstanding high school theatre programs in a variety of categories. Like the Oscars and Tony Awards, there is an awards ceremony where the final awards are presented. The Awards take place on June 11 at 7pm at the 5th Avenue Theatre. Here is a link to the entire list of nominees: https://www.facebook.com/notes/the-5th-avenue-theatre-education-programs/announcing-the-2013-5th-avenue-awards-nominees/659310777419825

Vacation Bible School 2013

Christ the King &

St. Luke Catholic Church at St. Luke

July 15-19

Children attending Kindergarten through 5th Grade next fall are invited to join us

for this year’s Vacation Bible School. This is a wonderful, fun opportunity for your

child to continue their faith formation this summer! We have so much fun with

music, games, crafts and learning about our faith.

This year’s theme will be Marvelous Mystery: The Mass Comes Alive.

Registration form is included in this newsletter.

Also, we will need lots of volunteers to make this fun week a great success for our

kids. You or your child (6th Grade – High School) can sign up to volunteer on the

registration form. There will be a nursery (ages 0-2) and a Pre-K class (ages 3-4)

for the children of our volunteers.

I hope you can make it! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact

me.
