Campaign Pledges/Commitments Exceed $460,000 ~ 78% of our Goal!

Campaign Money Received $104,210.17!

Christ the King Catholic Church • Cambridge, Minnesota 2016-2019 Facility Repair and Improvement Capital Campaign

Thank You! Our sincere thanks to the 126 parishioners who have stepped forward with their commitment to help fund the street assess-

ments and several church, campus, and rectory repairs/improvements. We continue to receive commitments each week as parish members recognize the importance of this

project to help protect and sustain the investment in facilities that generations before us made, and we benefit from today.

The current results mean that we are within $130,168 of reaching the $590,168 campaign goal.

Don’t Delay – Respond Today If you have not returned your commitment decision, please take time this week to offer your response based on your

blessings and capacity. Packets are available in the church outside the parish office. Please mail or deliver your commit-ment or place it in the collection basket at Mass. Save us the

time and energy to contact you by returning your commitment form this week.

Why Do We Need Your Written Response? As a member of our Christ the King faith community we invite

you to take a personal interest in shaping our future. The decision as to how you choose to respond with a commitment based on your blessings is entirely in your hands. Please join and offer your financial support to help us move closer to our

participation and financial goals. Thank you! ~ Fr. Don

† THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD †

Simultaneous geographic and spiritual pilgrimages are evident in the epiphany story. The holy family was displaced, thus Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Then the magi travel from an eastern land with the guidance of the rising star to meet Jesus in a foreign place. What allowed these wise men, who were Zoroastrian practitioners not Jews, to recognize the light as belonging to Christ? This story of the epiphany, prompts us to consider our own epiphanies. Thomas Merton had a famous one, with which you might be familiar. He was walking down a sidewalk in Louis-ville, KY and suddenly his spiritual sight was transformed. In-side himself he noticed a love for everyone around him, and identified that though they were strangers, they were not alien. For Merton, illusory differences faded away, and were re-placed by an immense joy for being human. He wrote, “And if only everybody could realize this! But, it cannot be explained. There is no way of telling people that they are all walking around shining like the sun.” Both the magi and Merton overlook the superficial barriers that might prevent them from fully paying homage to the splendor of God at hand. Reflection: How often do I allow difference to hinder the hospi-tality I am called to show others, especially strangers? Which type of difference do I have the hardest time overcoming?
