Printout”, change the year to 2015, and click the box that has “Tax Year Printout” in it. This will include school-related expenses only; summer daycare tax statements must be requested from daycare. Remember that not all payments to FLS are tax deductible, and you should contact a tax advisor to find out what can be written off, and what cannot.

TAX STATEMENTS FOR SUMMER DAYCARE should be requested from Daycare. The tax statements that you get through the office/that you can print yourself only include charges for the school year, not summer daycare.

SNOW DAY NOTIFICATION: In the event that school may be cancelled due to inclement weather, we

follow Ponca City Public Schools schedule FOR WEATHER-RELATED CANCELLATIONS ONLY. Listen to your radio during the cancellation announcements, and if Ponca City Schools are cancelled, First Lutheran will be out, also; however, there will NOT be a separate announcement for First Lutheran. This only applies to weather-related cancellations; at all other times, follow the First Lutheran School Calendar. If you need a new one, or have any questions, please contact the office.

PRINCIPAL - Mr. Birnbaum: Joke of the week: What did the snowman say to the customer? Answer: Have an ice day! Enrollment Time again. We are preparing for increased enrollment and have started waiting lists in some grades.

Our goal is to take only 20 students per grade in Kindergarten & first, 24 in 2nd to 5th, and 28 in the Middle school classes. We are opening enrollment to the public on March 1st, but we will guarantee your child's spot if we have received your re-enrollment papers, registration paid in full by April 30, and back debt paid up. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: Happy Valentine Day! We are having so much fun as we prepare for our party on Friday. Decorating bags, using monster trucks to paint hearts, and playing "Match the Valentine" are just a few of the things happening this week. I am really looking forward to seeing the family quilt blocks which are due by Friday! If you have any questions, please let me know. No school on Monday! Next week we will be working more on beginning sounds of words. We are making good progress with The Lord’s Prayer. This is an awesome group of little learners! God bless.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN - Mrs. Kelly: We are loving getting to know Mrs. Patterson, and are so glad that she is here. We have been talking about and practicing random acts of kindness, ask your child what they can do at home to show kindness. Our valentine party is Friday at 2:30, we hope you can join us. You can send your child's valentines tomorrow or Friday. We will not have school on Monday, February 15th. Our Bible words this week are, [Forgive]...as the Lord has forgiven you. Colossians 3:13 We are learning the letter "H" and the Number "14" this week. Have a blessed week!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Flaherty: Book orders are due Friday the 12th. We are working on the letter "Hh" and doing lots of activities involving hearts. Bible words for the week "Forgive as the Lord forgave you" Colossians 3:13 (NIV). Since I was out last Friday we will have show n share again Friday, also our Valentine party will be this Friday at 2:15.

KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: We will have our class valentine party this Friday at 2:30 (parents are welcome to come). Your children can bring their valentine's to school anytime. Please have the children sign their names on the cards but don't address them to specific people. This way we can just drop one in each sack. We have 20 children in our class. The class would like to wish Parker a happy birthday on Thursday the 11th. Happy valentine's to everyone and have a spectacular week!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: A big thank you to everyone who brought in canned goods for our 100th day of school. The ECC building collected almost 300 cans for our Church! The 1st grade class collected over 100 - way to go! Book orders came home today - they will be due on Thursday, Feb. 18 either online or to me. A valentine note came home last Friday. Please send in $2-$3 to help Jennifer with supplies for the party. Parents are welcome to join us! Our next memory verse, Galations 5:22-23, will be said next Friday. Please be working on this verse at home. Blessings on your week!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Today is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. We pause to reflect on Christ's sacrifice for us, His amazing gift of love! We're excited about our Valentine's party on Friday afternoon. You're invited to join us. Please send your child's Valentines to share. We're having a Reading and Spelling review week. FOURTH GRADE - Mrs. Sibley: Applications for the school talent show are available in the classroom. We had a math test today; reading, spelling and memory test are on Friday. I was very impressed on how well we did for our SE States and Capital test! Our next region is the Midwest. Keep up the good work. Some will be presenting their job reports tomorrow. We will finish job report presentations on Friday. Remember that your valentine’s boxes are due this Friday for the contest. Bring them in covered so we don’t know the true owner until we vote with numbers. The categories for prizes are Most Creative or Unusual, Most Traditional, and Funniest.

FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: Happy birthday in February to Shianne (4), Jonathan (9), Ryleigh (23), Aliyah and Trinity (27). Tests this week include spelling and reading on Friday. We continue to learn the prepositions in language. Memory due tomorrow is Luke 17:3-4. We continue to cheer on our FLS basketball teams. We are proud of them for representing us so well this basketball season. Friday at 2:30 is our Valentine's party. Blessings!

MIDDLE SCHOOL 2/20 8th & 9th Grade Pepperette Winter Dance, 7:00, Hutchins 2/24 7:30 FLSCA 2/29 7th Grade fundraising packets due in

MIDDLE SCHOOL: Your teacher has information on the radio contest sponsored by Team Radio. This is a chance for you to write a Public Service Announcement and present it on the radio.

Mrs. Goll: From percents and proportions to graphing linear equations to exponent rules, our middle school math

classes are covering a lot of ground. Take a moment to ask your student to explain what he/she has been studying in math. Today marks the beginning of Lent. God bless you as you consider the amazing sacrifice our Lord made for us.

Mrs. Harbeson: Hello Everyone! Have a great week and please pray for those of us who are traveling to Topeka this weekend. Blessings!

Mrs. Hanson: Mini Cheer was so much fun! And I am so proud of all my girls, they did great! The 7th graders have received their new seller packets for their current fundraiser. These are due to me by

Monday, February 29 . Go sell, sell, sell! Pretty much business as usual in the middle school this week, aside from the Topeka tournament starting Friday. Business as usual means vocab quizzes this week, and some in-class activities. Memory is also continuing with the

musical songs; this week is Neck up Check up. Then come Monday we all get a much needed one day break! No school for Presidents Day! Happy Valentine’s Day! Go and share God's love. Mr. Covert: We’re over halfway done with the third quarter here! It’s hard to believe we’re almost halfway through

February! In 8th grade, we’re about to wrap up the Civil War and start on Reconstruction. 7th grade is talking about North and

South Europe, studying the history and the people who live there. In 6th grade, we’re discussing the Byzantine Empire, and after that we will cover the spread of Christianity.

I pray that God continues to bless everyone in the FLS family this week!
