More than 180 people died in workplace accidents last year and an estimated 800,000 accidents occur in the
workplace annually.
Recent research from St John Ambulance found that two out of three people didn’t feel they could save a life in an emergency, with a quarter saying they would helplessly do nothing while a life is on the line. Of those
who would attempt first aid, their efforts are likely to be in vain as in many cases they would administer the
wrong procedure.
First aid in the workplace is now a legal requirement. Accidents and injuries do happen at work, but, if staff are properly trained, they will be able to respond with confidence knowing they have the skills to deal with
emergency situations involving colleagues, customers or even the boss.
As the country’s leading first aid organisation, St John Ambulance trains more than 800,000 people a year in life saving skills. To date we have formally trained more than 324,000 people in first aid and health and safety. All of our courses are geared around first aid in the workplace, offering businesses the opportunity to
train their staff to the highly regarded St John Ambulance standards and meet their legal obligations.
What’s more, the money you spend on St John Ambulance courses is reinvested in our wider charitable
work, helping even more people learn first aid and potentially save lives. There is no doubt that first aid can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved and we want more people to know the basic skills that
could save someone's life.
Every year 150,000 people die through a lack of first aid. We believe that anyone who needs first aid should
receive it. St John Ambulance is determined to be the difference between lives lost and lives saved.
So why not do your training with us. You too could be the difference.
