Hidden Properties of Carbon Dots Revealed by HPLC Fractionation

Oh! How misunderstood carbon dots are when in a mixture!

How unuseful they will be in the near future!

Within a mixture, they cannot express their wonderful properties,

but when isolated, they can be applied to different utilities.

Unless they are reduced by fractionation,

they will not show their true capacity for absorption.

Neither will they reveal their unique emission,

unless they are compelled towards division.

These fractionations allow carbon dots to express luminescence,

granting them with beauty and providing them with more confidence.

These luminescent carbon dots display less levels of toxicity

and hence, more biological compatibility!

At last! A technique that is able split such relations,

simply by separating the components by their polar interactions!

How this magnificent technique pumps the liquid solvent,

through a column filled with solid adsorbent!

When in the despaired column,

the carbon dots elude their partner, their friend, their alumn.

Oh, what a sad ending for the particle’s solvent,

for they have been replaced by the quailed columns, now changed into a spent.
