Dr. Cappiccie is acting in the role of Research Manager. The total sponsor funds are $10, 279. This role will include 8 hour of time per week with the following duties: building network/connections with referral sources at UofL/TJ Sampson Family Medicine Clinic research site, assisting with work flow decisions on rural dissemination site, explaining informed consent to referred patients, obtaining informed consent documents, random assignment of patients to protocol, assisting patients in starting and completing panel of rapid assessment inventories, documentation of patient research, storage and security of research in rural dissemination site, maintaining tablets that will be used for access to online portion of research, weekly interdisciplinary team phone conferences, follow up with patients as needed, transition to care coordinator of the research team, preparation of research articles and dissemination of articles.

Western Kentucky University 1/14 - Present Research and Creative Activities Program (RCAP) Investigators: Shackleford, J., Cappiccie, A., Bailey, H. Title: Raising Law Enforcement Officer Awareness of Traumatic Brain Injury Signs: A Training Module This mixed-methods research project seeks to initiate a proactive response to this need for officer training in TBI by developing a cross-disciplinary team of professionals with expertise in TBI, social/behavioral science, law enforcement, and military veteran affairs. The team of experts will collaborate to conduct a curriculum needs assessment to determine factors to be considered in creation of a training curriculum. The needs assessment will target participants who are providers of services to TBI clients, such as military/veterans services, community mental health centers, private practitioners, law enforcement agencies, medical professionals, and therapeutic organizations. From the data gathered through the needs assessment, content analysis will determine themes to be included in creation of the training curriculum.
