Things to do before you begin recording

*Have you done these steps? If yes, you are ready to record!

I’m ready to record

1. Insert and slide Canon Li-ion Battery into back of Camera

2. Press the ON/OFF button

3. Open lens by pushing down on the switch on the left side of lens (while look straight

on at lens)

4. Set your settings

a. The camcorder may prompt you to personalize settings using the touch

screen (i.e. date and time)

b. If the camcorder goes straight to the lens view then go

scroll left and press pick on top right

c. Scroll through these settings and set them accordingly5. Press START/STOP to begin and stop recording

a. This is the silver and red button on the right side of the camcorder, whenlooking at the battery pack

6. To view recording press by the ON/OFF button

a. In playback screen select a scene to viewb. Swipe left/right or use the left and right arrows to display more playback

c. Touch desired scene to playbackd. Press to return to recording screen

*Do you have your recording? If yes, let’s upload your recording to a computer.

1. Check Charge

a. We recommend charging camcorder before use, even if the camcorder

indicates a charge (green light)

b. Turn OFF camcorder

c. Insert and slide Canon Li-ion Battery into the back of camcorder

d. Plug compact power adapter into an outlet and insert the other end into the

DC IN location on the bottom right of the camcorder

e. While charging the POWER/CHG light will turn red, when fully charged the

POWER/CHG light will turn off

2. Obtain a Memory Card

a. Memory cards rated CLASS 4, 6 or 10 are recommended

b. SD/SDHC/SDXC cards by Panasonic, Toshiba, and SanDisk are recommended

c. Insert memory card into “SD CARD OPEN” slit next to ON/OFF button

i. Use a slight angle and have the label side facing outward

Returning the camcorder checklist

1. Remove your memory card from the camcorder

2. Charge camcorder

3. Ensure all contents are in the bag

4. Return camcorder to Studio Teach within 14 days of checkout

1. Insert memory card into media slot on computer

2. Open SD drive on your computer

3. This will allow you to access your recordings

OR

1. Turn ON camcorder

2. Open on screen

3. Connect the camcorder to computer using the provided USB cord

4. A pop-up should appear, click on it

a. For Windows

i. Open files

ii. Open “This PC”

iii. Under Devices and Drives select Canon VIXIA HF R800

iv. This will allow you to access your recordings

b. For Mac

i. Open Photos app

ii. Under “Import”, Canon VIXIA HF R800 will be listed

iii. This will allow you to access your recordings

1. Choose to import selected or import all new items

Zoom

1. The zoom lever is located on the top of the camcorder

a. The letters W and T are located to the left and right of the lever

2. Move lever toward the W to zoom out and toward the T to zoom in

Framing

Automatic Framing Assistance

1. [Framing Assistance] [A Automatic] [X]

2. Zoom in on desired object

3. When the subject is framed, hold the camcorder still, the camcorder will zoom in on

the indicated area with a white frame

Manual Framing

2. Zoom in on desired object

3. Touch and hold

a. The zoom lever will change the size of the frame

4. When desired object is framed, release the
