1 CAM Modules Manual

1.1 Introduction 'CAM Modules Manual'

This manual describes how to work with CAM Modules of the NUPAS-CADMATIC Hullsoftware developed by Numeriek Centrum Groningen.

Besides the plate and profile geometric information, also logistical data is important for the CAM process. This data is stored in predefined fields in the construction database. The data of these logistical fields can be displayed in lists, reports, and sketches.Logistical fields can be created or modified by the user or will be automatically filled in bythe system.Usually, these logistical fields are defined when starting a new project.

This manual follows the workflow process (see the diagram on the next page) todescribe how the Production Information data is added to the logistical database andthen presented in the form of lists and sketches.

The starting point for the creation of Production Information data is a 3D model of asection that contains all the modelled plate and profile parts. Any required cross-sectionsand sheet drawings should also have been created.

1.2 CAM Toolbar

Generally speaking, the construction of a section and the generation of ProductionInformation are two separate tasks. For this reason, the construction buttons on the rightof the toolbar can be replaced with a Production Information button set, please use the

buttons to switch from toolbar . The Production Information toolbar has beenlaid out in such a way that the buttons as seen from left to right follow (most of) theworkflow of the Production Information work.

1.2.1 Determining the process codes

Special codes can be used in reports for the manufacturing process e.g. Proc essin

number, ob number, Article number, Cost number, Position. These codes should beadded to the logistical database by means of the "Logistics" -> "Create Processcodes"  function or by using the CAM toolbar button.

After starting the function a chose can be made which code should be calculated for the

first time or again. After pressing the OK button it will start to calculated and give allparts, according to the user settings, the new codes.

Please be aware that own settings already have been set to accommodate this, see explanation below.

Every code has his own purpose and gives extra information about the construction. These codes can be used to control production. An other possibility is to use thesecodes to select parts and make reports or other production data of this selection. The

different codes are:

Proc essin number

  ob number

Position

 Article number  Cost number

Description

The description of parts is always up to date after creating or modification. It is onlyuseful to use this "Description"  function after changing the defaults descriptions. For example to change to an other language.

The use of a process number or Jo n um e r

The use of a Pro essin number and ob number can be different for eachcustomer. In our case we use the "Process number" to define a certain activity for example bending. In this way it is possible to control different steps in the production

process of each part. The purpose of the ob number is to control several parts withdifferent "Process numbers". The definition of the settings in the system is the same for both numbers.

Proce s s i g n um e r

The "Process number" can be defined in the material.ins file, the "proc" code is

introduced to identify the production activity for each type. A line for each type definesthe process number, for example, a non-bended plate with a knuckle would be definedas follow:

proc 10 1 (type 10 is Knuckle on part)

The "Process code" will be 1.

Jo n um e r

The ob number functions works at the same way as the Proc essin number. In the

material.ins file, the "Sort" code is used to identify the ob number. A line in the

material.ins file for non-bended plates with a knuckle would look like this:

sort 10 9 (type 10 is Knuckle on part)

The ob number will be 9.

Proce s s i g n um e r and Jo n um e r:

In the NUPAS-CADMATIC Hull system, parts can be distinguished by means of their

Proc ess number or ob number. Most of these numbers will be determinedautomatically, since the system is able to detect several manufacturing processesautomatically. It is able to do so because it knows the types of part stored in thedatabase (e.g. plate, bracket, shell frame, and profile) and their attributes (e.g. aknuckle, flange, or corrugated stiffener). The combination of these will result in several'Proc'  and 'Sort'  numbers. These fix numbers can be connected to the user defined

Proc ess number or ob number. The table below shows an overview of the fix 'Proc'

and 'Sort'  numbers:

The start number of the first four items are fixed and are the same as the numbersbehind the type command in the same material.ins file.

The Proc ess number and ob number  has to be defined in the third row of thematerial.inp file. The Proc and Sort names are used for the difference between thesetwo fields. The type number define the combinations of the construction type and hisactivities see table above. The table below shows for Plates, Brackets and Shell frame

The format of this file is important. The first four characters are used for thedifferent commands. Then the fix number has a fix length of 4 characters and the

Proc ess number or ob number has to be started from character 11.

Po itio

When the Position option of the "Create process codes"  function is used, the

Position of the part is stored in the logistical database in the Position field. Thesepositions have the following values:

 1 starboard-1 port 0 centre line

The field Position must be present in the database (this is not a standard field)

Description

When the Description option is used, all standard descriptions that have been set withthe "Logistics"->"Description"  menu option of the System Management application willbe written to the database again. This means that whenever a standard description hasbeen changed, this change will be made throughout the database, so that the entiredescription will be up-to-date again.

When a Proc ess number, ob number or Position is used in the system thevalues can be converted to names. Please use for this reason the "ConvertColumn" in the report layout details and "Cam"->"Report"->"Conversion"  to

specify the names for each value, for example Position: ,SB, PS, and CL insteadof 1,-1 or 0.

1.2.2 Automatic panel numbering of parts

The automatic part numbering program ensures that each part will be given a uniqueidentification number that consists of a panel number and a part number.

The panel number is a collection of construction (plates and profiles if necessarily even

with brackets and lugs). The part number is a unique number within this collection or within the entire section.

The first step of the automatic part numbering is to define the panel number and planename. This number can always be modified manually afterwards. In the second step theautomatic part numbering of the single parts will be processed. In this chapter we explainthe first step how to define the plane and panel name. In chapter " Automatic partnumbering of parts" we explain the automatic "Part numbering" process.

Plane name

The definition of a panel is a group of parts, mostly belonging to one assembly step. The

definition of a plane name is a group of parts belonging to one plane, a plane is one levelin the entire section. It could be a frame f.i..

The plane name can be used to control the panel groups and change them manually byselection on the plane name. Also the plane name can by useful with in the work brakedown structure. To add this between the section number and panel name. This workbrake down structure is visible in the hull viewer and can help you to define the assemblygroups.

The constructions positioned within the same plane gets a unique plane name. Thisname is normally the frame number or height or breadth of the plane, if the plate isslanted the average plane level will be used. When the user difine a name or number in

the input field of the "Plane name"  this name or number will be used for the first plane. The next plane (in order of the levels) gets the next number in succession until everyplane is numbered.

The plane name identification will always be preceded by a code that clearly specifiesthe three orthogonal planes. If this code has not been set with the"Logistics"->"Automatic part numbering"->"Other"->"Plane name prefix...."  menuoption of the System Management application, the default values L, B, and H will beused.

1.2.3 Automatic part numbering within panels

The "Automatic part numbering"  function gives all parts (plates and profiles) a part

number. The order of this numbering is controlled by several conditions:

The panel name.

The chosen prpa code for each type.

The panel name together with the prpa appendix code controls the sequence

Numbering by panel or numbering by section.

Position of the part is important within one panel.

The chosen main and sub directions for each type.

The given start numbers, starboard, portside even or odd define for each type plate, bracket, profile or shell frame a number.

Compare and Compress.

Only not numbered items

The panel name

The first step of part numbering is to give all parts a panel name.

The chosen prpa code for each type.

Each construction type can get their own panel appendix code, this code will be addedtemporary to de panel code.

The panel name together with the prpa appendix code controls the

sequence

This combination name will be sorted by name and causes the first sequence. All partwith the same combination name will be sorted by position in two different directions amain direction and a sub direction.

Numbering by panel or numbering by section.

The function knows two numbering sequence, numbering by panel or numbering bysection. If chosen for numbering by panel, each panel starts with the same part number. If chosen for numbering by section, the first part number of the panel will start with thehighest number of the previous panel plus 1. In this last case all part numbers are

unique. In the first case all part numbers are unique within a panel. If the panel appendixcode is used the part number will be unique for each combination name.

Position of the part is important within one panel.

Each part have a position, for profiles this position is the middle of the profile length, for plates it is the position of the part number attribute. These positions are important for thetwo sorting sequent. These two sorting sequent are used within each panel.

The chosen main and secondary direction for each type.

The main direction divides the panel in bands within which the part number positionshould lie. These bands can be situated in either the height or the width direction of thepanel. The secondary direction sorts the part positions within these bands, this can bedone in three directions: from 'one side to the other side' or from the 'middle to eachside'. With this two sequences the part positions are sorted and the order for each part isa fact.

The main and secondary sorting of plates and profiles can be set separately with the"Logistics"->"Automatic Part Numbering"->"Other"  menu option of the SystemManagement application.

The given start numbers, starboard, portside odd or even define for eachtype plate, bracket, profile or shell frame a number.

The automatic part numbering process has several options for numbering parts. Thesecan be seen in the "Automatic part numbering" panel shown above. A distinction can bemade for each type of part (plate, profile, bracket, shell frame) and another distinctioncan be made between port (PS) and starboard (SB).Furthermore, the user can specify whether the parts on the SB side should be giveneven numbers and the BB parts odd numbers or vice versa. By default, this option is set

to "None" , which means that the sorting direction will determine the numbers. All partsof a panel will be given a unique number simply by entering "SB"  in the "Number  plates"  entry box. If a value is entered in the "Number profiles"  box also, the platesand profiles will be numbered separately. In that case, the same number may occur twice and the type Profile type will determine the unique status of the part. The lastmethod is more suitable for giving profiles a different number sequence than plates.

The default settings for each part number can be found in System Management Application

Compare

If the option "Compare" is switched on, the check for identical profiles will search withinthe entire section for identical profiles. If these are present the group of identical profilesgets the same part number. This will be the lowers number within the group of theidentical parts. For more information see "How to control the check for identical parts".

This function can also be used alone. It will check all profiles within the entire section, small changes made in the construction, will effect the number sequence. For thisreason it is not always wise to use this function specially if you don't want to change theolder part numbers. In that case manual checks has to be made.

If the setting “Count mirrored profiles”  is switched on the "Compare"  function willtreat mirrored profiles as the same. An extra line will be present in the panel.

CompressIf the option "Compress" is switched on, all item within the entire section will becompressed according to the given start numbers. This function can also used alone.See also “Compress partnumber”

Only not numbered items

This option can be used when a section is already numbered and only not numberedparts must have a new number. If this is the case please enter the highest number in theinput fields (Result plus one). This to prevent a total new sequence for your current part

numbers and to prevent identical part numbers on not identical (plate) parts. If this option is used in combination with the check for identical profiles "Compare" , allprofiles will be check even if there are not new part numbers forgiven and if compress isalso used at the same time it will compress the entire section. For this reason it is notalways wise to use these functions together wilt "Only not numbered items" , speciallyif you don't want to change the older part numbers.

1.2.4 Automatic Part and Panel

This chapter explain the function of the input panel, see the chapters Automatic panelnumbering of parts and Automatic part numbering within panels for more backgroundinformation.

numbers on not identical (plate) parts. If this option is used in combination with the check for identical profiles "Compare" , allprofiles will be check even if there are not new part number forgiven. If even used incombination with "Compress"  the compression have effect on all numbers present inthe entire section. For this reason it is not wise to use the "Compress"  function if youdon't want to change the older part numbers. On the other hand you want to be certain

that parts are correct numbered.

CompareIf the option "Compare" is switched on, the check for identical profiles will search withinthe entire section for identical profiles. If these are present the group of identical profilesgets the same part number. This will be the lowers number within the group of theidentical parts.

This function can also be used alone. Then it will check all profiles within the entiresection, small changes made in the construction, will effect the number sequence. For this reason it is not wise to use this function if you don't want to change the older partnumbers.

If the setting “Count mirrored profiles”  is switched on the "Compare"  function willtreat mirrored profiles as the same. An extra line will be present in the panel.

CompressIf the option "Compress" is switched on, all item within the entire section will becompressed according to the given start numbers. This function can also used alone.

See also “Compress partnumber”

OK After pressing the "OK"  button the calculation will start. The sequent is as followed:

Update logistical data

Define the plane name and Panel name

Give the attributes the same Panel as the plates

Define the part numbers

Compare

Compress

Each step will be and can be started separately.

1.2.4.1 Reference lines

The reference lines are presented in a convenient list This list displays the current statusof the reference lines. The information in the list can be modified by clicking the "Modifyreference lines" button. This will open the following panel:

New values can be entered in the entry fields above the lists and confirmed by pressingthe <Enter> button. Decimal length values (e.g. 23.5) are not allowed. The new values

will be added to the list and the list will be sorted. A line can be deleted from the list by selecting the line in the list and clicking the"Remove" button. A maximum of 10 reference lines can be created for each direction. If the user creates more lines, the program will notify him that this is not allowed.

1.2.5 Compress partnumber

This function "Logistical"->"Compress Part number"  is useful to rearrange or compress part numbers within a given selection.

When a section or panel contains identical profiles it is possible to combine these to onepart number. To check on these identical profiles please use Automatic part numbering. This function will even compress the part numbers to a nice range of numbers if thefunction "Compress"  will be used in this automatic part numbering function. Instead of using the "Compress"  function in the automatic part numbering function this functioncan be used to rearrange the part numbers or compress them manual to a nice range. To do this the next steps are necessary:

First select with a selection criteria all the part numbers which must be compressed

After this selection an other panel shows the lowest and highest part number within theselection criteria.

Page 23: CAM Modules Manual

CAM Modules Manual

18NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL Version 5.2 05/2007

The "First part number"  can be filled in and the compress method "Even and Odd" or "Even or Odd"  can also be determined.

After pressing "Start to compress"  all parts within the selection are renumbered fromthe lowest part number up to the highest. The lowest part number will get the given"First part number"  the second part number within the selection the "First part number"  plus 1. Only if chosen for the method "Even or Odd"  all even part numberswithin the selection will be getting even part numbers starting with the even given"First part number" . This method will be used also for the odd part number within theselection.

A new selection can be made and the process starts from the beginning.

1.2.6 Place part number symbols

Generally spoken every item gets a part number, we can speak about two types. A partnumber attribute or a part number connected to an item. A part number attribute is given

only to plates, this is don automatically by the system. For brackets, shell frames, collar plates and profiles the part number is always connected to the item. In this case theseitems have always only one part number. This in contradiction with plates. Plates can bedefined by slots and seams and for that reason plates can have more than one partnumber.

After the use of the automatic part number system every item gets it's part number. Thisnumber will be presented on the drawings, with or without a part number symbol. For plates the first location will be chosen by the system. The part numbers or symbolsconnected to other items must be positioned manually. In both cases several functionsare present in the system to control the position of these part numbers (symbols). Thesefunctions are:

Thickness text

Plate symbols

Profile symbols

Part number in cross section

Part symbol

Profile size

Bracket dimensions

General settings for each project can be set to control the presentation of the partnumber and to chose for a part number symbol or to chose for only text. The number and order can be defined, by using a combination with other logistical information. The

part number text and symbols can be defined differently for plates and profiles. All thesesettings can be find in the system management application. Some examples:

During the construction of a section, it is often necessary to place a thicknessidentification on a plate part to make the drawing more understandable. This can bedone with the "Place thickness identification"  button in the Toolbar: together with it'sthickness symbol the part number symbol will be placed and the part number can begiven in an separate panel. See below:

A secondary "Info"  function of the input panel is to get information, by using thispossibility a part can by selected. The information of this part will be filled in the paneland can be used for the previous selected part.

If the material type is different from the standard this will displayed underneath thethickness indication.

The part symbol can be switched on or off by the user with the function"Settings"->"Partsymbol settings"  and the input panel can be switched on or off by the System Management Application function"Logistics"->"Partnumber"->"Settings"->"Logistics during partnumbering" .

Plate symbolsThis function "Logictics"->"Plate symbols"  places only the part number symbols onplates in plan view. After the first placement the symbol must be dragged to the finalposition. If this place is to far from the connection point the program will automaticallydraw a pointer line between the connection point and the part number symbol. Seeexample below:

Page 26: CAM Modules Manual

The part number input panel is optional. It can be switched on or off in the SystemManagement Application.

Profile symbols

This option can be used to place profile part number symbols. There are twopossibilities: "All"  and "By line" .

Use "All"  to give all profiles on the selected drawing a part number symbol. The symbolswill be placed automatically in the centre of the profiles in plan view. This function hasthe benefit that all profiles will be numbers in a sort time.Use "By line"  to place the part number symbols along a temporary user-defined line.Only part numbers symbols are placed if the temporary user-defined line intersect theprofile in plan view. The benefit of this function is that all symbols will be inline. In somecases it is necessarily to use this function more then once to number all profiles in thedrawing. A combination with the first functions will be avoid that profiles will be forgotten.

Both functions will only place a part number symbol if such a symbol is not yetpresent.

Part number in cross section

The primary purpose of this option is assigning part number symbols (one at a time) toplate or profile in cross-section or a profiles or collar plates in plan view. The user canselect a plate or profile in cross-section or a profile or collar plate in plan view. Theprogram will then display a part number symbol for this selected item. The user can thendrag this symbol to a suitable location. If the symbol is dragged outside the part or connection point, the program will automatically draw a pointer line between theconnection point and the part number symbol.

Together with this function an input panel is visible and can be used to define the partnumber or other logistical data. If the part number is filled in; this number will beautomatically changed to the next number after positioning a part number symbol .

This extra logistical panel is always present. Extra data fields can be defined with

the System Management Application function"Logistics"->"Partnumber"->"Panel layout" .

A secondary purpose is to change the position of the plate part number symbol in planeview. This by clicking on the symbol and drag this to an other location. With the rightmouse button this function can be extended with three other functions these are:

Page 27: CAM Modules Manual

When 'Move only part number symbol'  is chosen the location of the plate part number symbol can be repositioned and the pointer line will be changed to this new location. If the symbol is dragged on top of the part number attribute sign the pointer line will beremoved.

When 'Pull' is chosen the location of the part number symbol including the pointer linewill be changed by dragging them to a new location. The part number cross will stay onthe same position.

The symbol will be deleted from the drawing when the 'Remove'  function is chosen.

The use of the logistical input panel:

The primary function of the logistical input panel is to give the selected part a number. This can be done by typing the part number before selecting the part. This number willbe given to that part and the part number will be countered to the next number. Theother logistical data will be given to the selected part if they are switch on.

Info A secondary function is to get information, by using this possibility a part can beselected. The information of this part will be filled in the panel and can be used for another part.

Rotate partnumber The last function in this panel is to rotate the part number symbol, this function rotatesonly the part number symbol when a profile is selected. This rotation will beperpendicular to the profile direction.

Part symbol

Generally spoken a part symbol will be always connected to an item on a drawing. Withthis function this physical connection is not requested and even a relation to thedatabase is optional. Without this relation this function can be used as a 2D part number symbol. This function is useful for 3D items which are not present on any drawing but

1.2.7 Change logistical data

With this function it is possible to change logistical information of one or more selectedpart. There are three menu's involved to control and change these information. The"Logistical selection menu"  and the "Logistical menu"  and the "Select default text" .To start this function use the "Logistic"->"Logistical data"->"Logistical menu's"  pull

down menu in the menu taskbar. See example below:

The names of the "Logistical menu's"  are set by the System Management Application,in this way it is possible to control the variation of the logistical fields and specify this in amenu. In our example we have three predefined "Logistical menu's" : "COG"  and"Description"  and "Partnumber" .

After choosing one of the three menu's the system starts the "Logistical selectionmenu"  and the chosen "Logistical menu Description" . See example below:

With the normal selection method it is possible to select one or more items. The value'sof the first selected part appear in the Logistical menu Description. When only one part isselected the select button is set to "individual"  and all the fields are active. After changing the values and pressing the "Ok"  button the logistical information of the part isstored to the database.

Page 30: CAM Modules Manual

CAM Modules Manual

Version 5.2 05/200725 NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL

When more than 1 part is selected the selection button is changed to "all"  and no fieldis active. See menu below. Select the logistical field you want to modify for all the partsand give the new value. After pressing the "Ok"  button the logistical information from theactive logistical field is changed for all the selected parts.

When the selected parts has to be modified one by one, change the radio button to"individual" . Modification can now take place for each individual items (one by one). Byselecting the "OK"  button all changes will be saved. By selecting the "Next"  buttonchanges of this part will not be saved. In both cases the next item will be selected to bemodified and so on.

It is also possible to get the values of another part and use these for the selected parts. To get the values of a part use the "Pick Value"  function in the "Logistical selectionmenu"   and select a part.

In some cases the information can not be changed by the user, in that case thedescription of the logistical information is frozen. In our example it is the sectionnumber described as "Block". Information that is frozen for the user can be usefulto get information about length, weight etc. See below the "Logistical menu COG"as an example:

Page 31: CAM Modules Manual

DescriptionThe description can be changed in the “Logistical menu” or in a separate menu by usingthe “Default description” function. The use of standard combinations will avoid a varietyof manual descriptions. It is important to use the variables VPR and VAR. VPR meansthe position in mm or in frame distance of a Profile. VAR means the position in mm or inframe distance of the Plate, VAR can be used even for the definition of a profile

description to describe the position of the plate. If the change is desired by the "Defaultdescription" the panel below is showed:

In the top left handed pull down menu a selection of the profile description can be made.In the top right handed pull down menu a selection of the plate description can be made.

Together they make one total description situated in the center of the "Select defaulttekst" panel this description can be changed even manually. Each pull down menu hasan empty line, this can be helpful to switch one of the sub descriptions off.The new description can be accepted by pressing the "OK"  button. After this the "Select default tekst"  panel will close and the new text will be displayed in the Logistical menu.

Only the "OK"  button in the mail panel "Logistical menu COG" panel will changethe description in the database. If chosen for the "Cancel"  button in the "Select default tekst"  menu the panel will close and the previous description will displayed

NextIf the "Individual"  radio button has been selected, the "Next"  button allows the user toreview the selected parts without modifying then, in the same way as in the"Logistics"->"Logistical Parts"  function.

OkUse this button to confirm any changes made. If the "Individual"  radio button has beenselected, the changes will only be implemented for the topmost part in the right list of theleft panel. The line that represents this part will be removed from the selected parts liston the right and a new "modified" line will be added on the left.

If the "All"  radio button has been selected, all parts selected in the right list of the leftpanel will be modified.

All/IndividualClick one of these radio buttons to indicate whether selected elements should be

modified simultaneously or one after the other. The "Individual"  setting will enable theuser to skip parts with the "Next"  button.

A new part will be created when no parts have been selected in the left panel and theuser enters data in the right panel and clicks "Ok" . A new record will then be added toboth the logistical database and the extra database.

If no M teria ltype or Prof type data can be entered because these data typesdo not exist in the right panel, the part will be created as type plate.

When entering data of the M teria ltype, the specification in the third column of each Type line in the %ncgnorms%\material.ins file should be used.

When entering data of the "proftype" type, the type designation from the thirdcolumn of the material.ins file (e.g. HP100X10) may be used but also thedimensions only (e.g. 100x10). However, the latter is only allowed if the"materialtype" field is also present. In that case, the profile type should bespecified in the "materialtype" field.

The "CAM"->"Report"->"Logistical Parts"->"Show logistical parts"  setting inthe System Management application can be used to specify whether the logistical

parts will be displayed in the reports and with profile nesting or not. Logistical partswill not be shown in the action report.

1.2.9 Action on report selection

The "Action on report"  funtion can be used to modify data stored in the logisticaldatabase. Not by selecting the parts from the graphic screen but selecting them from thedatabase directly with an user defined selecting panel.

Page 35: CAM Modules Manual

The primary function is to select a group parts and change the logistical information of these parts all at the same time or one by one. The selection can be don on everylogictical item f.i.: process code, plane name, length, material type etc. or a combinationof these items. A report layout takes care of the layout of the result of the selection and a Logical datamenu creates an overview of the fields which can be changed.

The Logical selection panel can be used to enter a selection criteria. The group createdthrough this selection can then be reduced even more by means of "Select element foraction". The remaining parts in the "Selected elements" list can be modified with apredefined Logical data menu. This can be done either one at a time, or all parts at thesame time.

 Action on report in detail:

After choosing the function from the "Cam"-> "Report" -> "Action report"  a selectioncriteria panel must be chosen.

First of all with the selection Criteria panel (see below) the primary selection can bemade, secondly the report layout must be selected together with the Action type"Logistics" . After this the button "Select from new Report" takes care of a newoverview of the parts belonging to the given criteria.

At the start al parts are displayed in the "Selected elements"  list. When select a line inthis list this line (part) moves to the "Deselected elements"  in this way a more specificselection can be made before changing some of the logistical fields of all selected parts.

The buttons "Select all"  or "Deselect all"  can be used to select or deselect all part atowns.

After chosen for the correct parts the proper "Logistics"  change panel (f.i. Partnumber)must be chosen together with the "OK"  button. In the "Logistical menu Partnumber"panel (see below) the user can make his changes. This or "All"  at the same time or one

by one by using the "individual"  function.

When using the next button no changes will be saved.

1.2.10 Shrinkage Management

Shrinkage Management have several levels. Each level has the same purpose toprevent that the assembly will be to small after welding. In general the parts will be

compensated in length and/or in breath direction. This compensation is don by threecompensation factors. These factors can be given in three directions length, breath andheight. The levels can divide in:

Overall level

Manuel level

 Automatic level

OverallThis control all parts within the entire section. This can be controlled with the SystemManagement Application “Cam”->”Autopart”->”Overlength Shrinkage”->”Shrinking compensation”

function. The three factors can be given with this function and from thatmoment all plates will be compensated with these factors.

ManualThis compensation will overrule the "Overall"  level an will compensate only the selectedpart with the given factors.

Automatic levelThis compensation will overrule the "Overall"  level and in some cases it can overrulethe "Manual"  compensation. This compensation is controlled by several settings andgive all parts depending of these settings a compensation factor.

Compensate profilesIn the "Manual"  and "Automatic"  level it is possible to tell the system that profiles whichare connected to that particular plate must be compensated to. The compensation of these profile is controlled automatically. This depended of the thickness and materialtype of the plate and profile.

Manual Shrinkage compensation

After starting this function with "Construction"->"Create"->"welds"->" Shrinkagecompensation"  a part must be select on which the compensation will be given. Theselection position must be on the plate and will be the position for the compensationsymbol on the drawing. This compensation symbol can be selected when using thefunction "ATT ?"  part info and will be display the compensation factors.

The system allow to have more than one compensation symbols on a plate and willnot remove one of them automatically even if one of them has no use. The user must remove these compensation symbols by him self with the "Removeconstruction"  function.

Page 38: CAM Modules Manual

Version 5.2 05/200733 NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL

The above panel will appear and will display the amount of profiles connected to theplate in "Horizontal"  and "Vertical"  direction. Next to this information the maximumdistance of the two directions of the plate are presented. These two values in combination with the "Weldtype"  will calculate the compensation. If another weldtype will be chosen the compensation will be calculated again. The user iseven free to define an other amount of profiles. This to exclude not important profiles. If wanted the compensation (millimeter per meter) can be inputted by the user.

Horizontal and VerticalOne or bold of directions "horizontal" or "vertical"  has to be chosen to determine thecompensation direction or directions.

Compensate profiles in lengthThis function will compensate the length of each connected profile. This depended to apredefined setting. See for more information "Compensate profiles".

OKThe compensation symbol will be added to the selected plate.

AutomaticThe shrinkage compensation can defined automatically, by using the function"Construct"->"create"->"ShrinkageManager" . This function creates a informationtemplate of all plates, seams and profiles with the name shrinkage.cmd stored in thecurrent section. In this template important information is preset for each item. By usingthis information the user is able to define the compensation. Before using this functionthe user (system manager) must add three files in the shrinkage directory. If this files arenot present in your norms directory please create them first. The names of these filesare: Profile.cmd, seam.cmd en plate.cmd. Examples can be find in our standard norms.

This automatically added shrinkage compensation marks will be added as an attribute inthe database, but are not visible on the drawings like the manual compensation symbols. This means that only manual added shrinkage compensation symbols will be present inthe drawings. It is for both shrinkage compensation marks possible to retrieveinformation with the "ATT ?"  function.

If this automatic function will be used more than once the previous shrinkagecompensation marks will be overwritten.

The next table describes the variables present in the template macro shrinkage.cmd.

It is not possible to remove automatically shrinkage compensation attributedmanually. The only way to remove these attributes from the database is to use thevariable "add='delete'"  in the plate.cmd and run the shrinkage manager again.

After changing or adding plates and/or attributes it will be recommended to run the"Shrinkage manager"  again before preparing information for production.

Compensate profilesIn the "Manual"  and "Automatic"  shrinkage compensation functions it is possible tocompensate profiles in length direction. When using this function all profiles will becompensated according to the given information in the shrinkage/settings.dat  file.

Two factors determine the compensation. These are the plate thickness of the plate onwhich the profile is added and the profile type. For each profile type a line can be addedin this file, with several ranges of plate thickness followed by the desired compensation

factor. The next to lines explaining a possible example:

HP200X10 0-20 1.001 20-40 1.002HP160X8 0-5 1.001 5-6 1.003 6-8 1.004 8-10 1.005 10-12 1.006 12-14 1.007 14-1001.008

Remark the line may not be longer as 160 charachter.

When the material type is important to define a compensation factor, is it allowed to addthis material type before the profile type, it has to be connected to the profile type. In thiscase more then one line for each profile type is allowed.

ALMHP200X10 0-20 1.001 20-40 1.002

If the profile type is not present in the file and the compensation of profiles inlength is set to 'on' an error will be visible in the log file of the profile sketch andprofile list functions. The profile length will not compensated in this case.

1.2.11 Create CAM data

With the CAM-ALL function it is possible to prepare parts for production. TheCAM-ALL function provide several output data. Listing, sketches, templates or output for nesting. First of all it is necessarily to specify a configuration for your layout and datatypes. It is even possible to make several configurations and give these names.Generally the "CAM-ALL"  function works as follow:

Page 41: CAM Modules Manual

8/19/2019 CAM Modules Manual

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/cam-modules-manual 41/117

CAM Modules Manual

36NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL Version 5.2 05/2007

After specify some reference lines and selecting of some or all parts the desired outputcan be chosen: Profile list (Sketch), Profile bending list, Profile robot files, Profilessketches and Cutting part. This together with a special or standard configuration. Thenyou decide to start the process at run-time or to do it in batch mode. After this action theoutput data can be checked with the three results programs: "Profile list" , "Sketches"

and "Code section" .

The next part explain the function more in detail.

Creating a new selectionThe panel will display the number of plates or profiles that have been selected together with an overview of these parts. The displayed selection date and time indicate when thisselection was made. Use the "Selection criterion" pull-down menu, which will open thefamiliar standard selection menu, in which it is posible to enter the desirable selectioncriteria. This will make a new selection. Once the new selection has been made, theprogram will automatically display the new number of items of all selected parts.

The selection is important, only selected construction will be calculated. The previousselection is always the default a new selection must be made if this selection is notup-to-date any more.

Reference linesThe reference lines can be viewed in the panel with the funtion "View reference lines" .With the "Modify Reference lines"  function some new reference lines can be chosen, important for assemble of the construction parts. See Reference lines how to use thisfunction. The system expect reference lines and can not be started without it. Only if there is chosen for "No Reference lines"  then the function will continue without anyinputed reference line. This extra check is don for safety reasons.

General informationUse the fields "Yard number" , "Group number"  and "Drawing number"  just below thereverence lines on the left side to enter general information. This information can or willbe used as extra information on your listings or sketches. It is necessarily to add therelated data fields in the layout files.

Measure from base pointsUse this option to create dimensions from the base point.

This means that the dimension will be calculated relative to the base point unless theprofile end type is "longer" than the base point.

This option will override the E line information in the type file that specifies the Aand B points.

Robot data

Page 43: CAM Modules Manual

38NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL Version 5.2 05/2007

The first pull down field can be used to specify whether the program should automaticallycalculate robot files. In the second pull down field the type of robot data can be chosen. If there are no robot types specified the lower pull down menu gets the name "None" and the first chose will be automatically "Without robot files" .If DXF output (for straight profiles) is specified by the system manager this function canbe chosen as robot data. If chosen for DXF output the first pull down menu will be set to"Only robot files"  this to prevent overwriting temporary files for the profile sketches.

ConfigurationIn some cases is it necessary to have several configurations to control the output of theproduction information. The specification if the configuration can be made in the SystemManagement Application. Each configuration get a name and can be chosen with thisfunction. All parts will be made with this configuration type. The standard configuration is

always present and is set according to your norms.

General information for bended profilesSpecific information for bended profiles can be entered in the "Include bended  profiles"  part of the panel. If the user needs a profile list with bended shell frames, thelayout for the bended profile list must also be specified in this part of the panel. Thisbended profile list will be created only when also is selected for a "Profile list" . The"Additional bend length"  and "Stepsize"  will be used for the Profile bending list andthe profile sketches. The option "Burn cutouts" , "Mark cutouts"  and "No cutouts"  have only influence onthe robot data.

Profile list settingsThe user can choose to activate or deactivate this entire block. If this part of the panel isactive, the program will create a profile list and if activated also a profile bending list. The layout of the list and the calculation method " Measure from base points" can alsobe specified by the user. The new page number data can be written to the logicaldatabase with the funtion "Update profile list" . This page number will be stored in the

logictical field Mouldnumber. If the user has opted for the creation of robot files "Withrobot files"  in the general part of the panel, these robot data will also be created.

Sort onThe sort on function will count identical profiles. In this way only one line will be used for identical profiles. This with the correct amount. If this function is not used each profile

gets one line.

Profile list SketchOn the profile list no physical control is possible of the profiles. This is not important if theend type and the way of production is fully standardizes over to total process of theproduction. This is not always the case. For that reason a special list in combination witha graphic picture of the profile can be made. This, so called "Profile list sketch" , hasthe same information as the profile list but is putt on a predefined template. See for moreinformation about this template in the System management manual. On this sketch no

All heights are plotted with respect to the lower side of the profile at their correspondinglengths, thus creating an inverse curve, which will become a straight line after the shellframe has been bent. For each frame, a maximum of 5 inverse curves can be calculated.

Template list of the exact frame shapeFor each profile, a range of hull shape coordinates will be calculated at regular intervals. These intervals can be set by the user "step size" . These coordinates constitute atemplate of the actual frame shape along the hull and will be presented in a rotated andtranslated coordinate system. After bending, the frame will have the same curvature asthe template.

TemplateDuring processing a profile bending sketch for each bent profile a templates can/will becreated. These templates are used for checking the shape of the shell frame during thebending process. The template can be nested and have the normal (internally)identifications as coded plates. The definition of the length and breadth, thickness, extralength, overlap and material type can be defined in the System Management Application

"Cam"->"Autopart"->"ShellFrame" .

Additional bend lengthThe value of this parameter increases the length of the shell frame on either side if thisside is bent. The parameter can be set with the "CAM"->"CAM List"->"General"->"Bending Length Added"  menu option in the System Management Application. This value will not be used if the %NCGNORMS%/verrekening file includes the parametersdescribed in the next section.

When is "Additional bend length" not used? The file %NCGNORMS%/verrekening canbe used to specify an additional length for each profile (7th column). This valuealways overrules the "Additional bend length"  value. If this parameter is not set,the "Additional bend length"  value will be used.In the same file, a parameter can be set that will add an additional length (in mm)for sagging per meter profile length (8th column). If this parameter is not set, onlythe "Additional bend length" value will be used.

The 6th column in the file %NCGNORMS%/verrekening can be used to set the positionof the neutral bending line.

Profile sketch settingsThe user can choose to activate or deactivate this entire block. If the block is active, itcan be used to enter various settings that will influence the way in which the sketch willbe created. If the user has opted for the creation of robot files in the general part of thepanel, these will also be created.

If the profile is (to) short the profile will be lengthen. This to avoid a strangedrawing. The values and measurement will be according to the real length. Cutouts

and holes will be positioned from the left start point of the profile.

Only when necessarySketches are normally only generated for profiles which contain cutouts and/or (D/V)holes or when bending information is necessary.

If the logistical field Pro ess_sket h is present in to the logistical database you caninfluence yourself whether or not a sketch should be generated for a profile. This fieldcan have one of the following values:

1 a profile sketch is not necessary

2 a profile sketch is necessary 3 a profile sketch is never necessary 4 a profile sketch is always necessary

The values '1' and '2' are automatically determined by the system after each modificationto the profile when the profile has one of these values already as its value.

By including this field in a logistical data menu you are able to overrule this automaticallydetermined value see the "Logistical data"  function.

When sketches are being made of 'All profiles'  instead of 'Only when necessary' , allprofiles within the selection for which 'a profi e s ketc h i not ne e s ary' (value '1') will bechanged to the indication that 'a profi e s ketc h i a w ays ne e s ary' (value '4').

No Bending lineThis function is only active if chosen for "Include bent profiles" . The function willremove the inverse bending line from the profile sketch.

Bending Table

This function is only active if chosen for "Include bent profiles" . The function will puttthe bending height of the inverse bending line in a table instead of using the dimensionarrows directly underneath the profile. The bending table will putt on the sketch in aspecific drawing area. See for more information the function"CAM"->"Sketches"->"Profile Sketch"->"Layout"  in the System Manager Application.

TurnThe normal viewing direction of the profile on the sketch is from the molded side to thethickness side. This function will turn this viewing direction and the thickness side will beon top.

Dimension to the rightThe dimensions will be putt with this function on the right side of the indication and thevalues are positioned from the right profile ending point. Without this function thedimensions will be putt on the left side of the indication and the values are positionedfrom the left profile start point.

With third and fourth endshapeWith this function active the flange of the profile will be draw on top of the body of theprofile. This including the end types of this flange.

Immediate start of the process or with a batch jobThe CAM process will start at once when the user clicks the "Ok"  button or will start inbatch mode if use the "Batch"  button. This will activate the various programs that willcreate the lists, sketches, single parts for nesting (DXF) and/or robot files one after theother. The outcome can be viewed by clicking the familiar button on the CAM toolbar or selecting one of the three option from the "Results"  pull-down menu.

Viewing the resultsThe list or sketch or single parts for nesting can be examined by choosing one of thethree functions from the pull down menu, a new panel will be opened where the resultscan be checked.

Viewing the logfileIn the results panels the log files can be displayed. This to check for warnings or error messages during the CAM-ALL process.

1.2.12 Viewing the results

The list, sketch or single parts for nesting can be examined by choosing one of the threefunctions from the pull down menu in the CAMALL function

or by using the following icons in the CAM tool bar :

After this a panel will be opened where the results can be checked.

1.2.12.1 Profile list

If the production of profiles is don manually a profile list can help you, special for notcomplex and straight profiles. On this list the necessarily data is present to cut the profilewith the correct length and end-types and provide the profile with measurement lines, description, bevel information and part number. For more complex profile a profile sketchis necessarily. On this profile list these complex profile getting a special marker to

indicate that a profile sketch is required. To generate this list use the icon or "CAM"->"CAM ALL"  menu option.

To View and print the profile list use the "Profile list"  icon in the Cam Toolbar, the"CAM"->"CAM Lists"->"Profile list"  menu or the option menu "Results"  in the "CAM  ALL"  panel.

A layout definition determines which profile data will be presented on the list. Generallyspeaking, the list will include the following items:

Profile type and dimensions

Identification number

Quantity

Length

Reference lines

Direction

End type data

Bevel type

Sketch notification

General information like date, section number, yard name or number etc.

The "Profile list"  function in the CAM-ALL program generates a list that contains all theproduct information for each profile, with the exception of the bended shell frames. Thelist is sorted by profile type and part number (in ascending order). It also shows the

assembly lines, so that the user will know where the profile is located in the ship or loceted on the connected plate. A "recognition word" marker (one or more characterslong) may be added for identification of the profiles for which a profile sketch should bemade. This "marker" can be defined with the "CAM"->"CAM List"->"General"->"CreateSketch" menu option of the System Management application.

The profile list is sorted by profile type, because of this it is not always simple to find acorresponding profile part number. For this reason the page number of the profile list can

be found on the report if the field Mould number is used in the layout definition of thereport.

Profile list sketchOn the profile list no physical control is possible of the profiles. This is not important if theend type and the way of production is fully standardizes over to total process of theproduction. This is not always the case. For that reason a special list in combination witha graphic picture of the profile can be made. This, so called "Profile list sketch", has thesame information as the "Profile list" but is putt on a predefined template. See for moreinformation about this template in the System management manual. On this sketch nocutouts or holes will be found, these items will only be present on the "Profile sketch".

1.2.12.4 Robot data

In the manufacturing process, profile robots are regularly used to cut profiles. To controla robot, a file should be made for each profile that contains all the data of that profile.

The layout of such a robot file depends on the system used to control the robot. Therobot systems that can be used with the NUPAS-CADMATIC Hull software are ARAC,TTS, REIS, and OXYTECHNIK.

The robot files can be created with the "CAM ALL"  program. To create these files youhave to select in the general part of the panel the option "With robot files"  or "Only robot files"  and a robot file type. The user also have to select the "Profile list"  or "Sketches"  option in combination with"Include bended profiles" to get all the robot files of the stiffeners.

The robot files can be checked by the following programs Profile List or Profile Sketches.

1.2.13 Assembly sketches

1.2.13.1 Work Breakdown 3D Sketch

With the Work Breakdown 3d sketch function it is possible to generate assemblydrawings according to the work breakdown structure. The Work Breakdown 3d sketchfunction provide for each work breakdown level several sketches. First of all it isnecessarily to specify a configuration for your layout and data types. Generally the "WorkBreakdown 3d sketch" function works as follow:

After specify an selection of some or all parts the desired start level "Level to generatethe sketches"  can be chosen from which level the sketches will be made. The option"Generate sketches from this level"  will tell the system to generate all sketched fromthis level and the lower levels. From that moment all sketches will be generated after pressing the OK button. After this action the output data can be checked by selectingthe sketches from the "Sketches"  list. In the "Missing items on Sketch"  list themissing part numbers will be displayed if they are missing on the sketch. In that casethese part are to small or behind others.

The sketch can be loaded in a sheet drawing use in that case the function "Load WBD"

sketch. The previous selection is always the default, a new selection must be made if this selection is not up-to-date any more.

Level to generate the sketchesThe work breakdown level has to be chosen from which the sketches will be made. Incombination with the function "Generate sketches from this level"  all sketches belowthis level will be generated.

Generate sketches from this level All sketches of the chosen level and the lower levels in the work breakdown structure will

be generated.

Sketch extensionIn some cases more than one sketch is requested by the user. This because sometimesnot all part are visible on the first sketch. In that case an other name have to be filled into create on other. In most cases this field will be used in combination with the "Rotate" function, after rotation the sketch will be saved with this extension and it will take carethat the previous sketch will not be overwritten.

View Work Breakdown sketchIn this pull down menu some functions can be selected. If chosen for "View Work Breakdown sketch"  a sketch can be selected. This sketch will be displayed in the

1.2.13.2 Work Breakdown 2D Drawing

With the Work Breakdown 2d drawing function it is possible to generate assemblydrawings according to the work breakdown structure. The Work Breakdown 2d drawingfunction provide for each work breakdown level several drawings. For each plate,

bracket or shell frame within the work breakdown tree a perpendicular view will becreated. Generally the "Work Breakdown 2d drawing"  function works as follow:

Next to the desired start level "Level to generate the drawings"  a specific name fromthe tree can be selected from which the drawings will be made. The option "Generatedrawings from this level"  will tell the system to generate all drawings from this leveland the lower work breakdown levels in the tree. From that moment on all drawings willbe generated after pressing the OK button. After this action the output data can bechecked by selecting the drawings from the "Drawing"  list. In the "Missing items ondrawing"  list the missing part numbers will be displayed if they are missing on thedrawing. In that case they are mostly not present in this drawing.

The sketch can be loaded in a sheet drawing use in that case the function "Load WBD" in the "File"->"Sheet Drawing"

The next part explain the function more in detail.

The drawings will be made as perpendicular view like the normal view function. Thebuttons "Show shape" , "Show equipment" , "Centre line" , "Frame line"  and "Scale" have the same functionality as used in a normal perpendicular view.

Use the smallest possibly boxThere are two possibilities to define the drawing box: one to use the box of the partpresent in the drawing view related to the tree name. Chose in that case for "Use thesmallest possibly box"  or the box of all drawing views will be related to one box. In thislast case this box gets the dimension of all parts in the tree of the level. With the "Freespace around"  it is possible to define the area around the box, all parts not belonging to

the tree name will be treated as neighbour items.

Create Drawings off Only one tree name can be specified. In that case only views of this tree name will bemade. If no name is mentioned all drawings of all tree names will be generated.

Level to generate the drawingsOnly parts in plane view related to this level will be used to generated the perpendicular views.

1.2.14 Import Nesting Information

The exchange of data takes place via ODBC (Microsoft's Open Database Connectivity). To configure such a connection, there are three settings in the System Management

Application: Connection name (DSN), Username and Password.

Page 70: CAM Modules Manual

8/19/2019 CAM Modules Manual

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/cam-modules-manual 70/117

CAM Modules Manual

Version 5.2 05/200765 NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL

After setting these three values, you can setup the connection with the function 'ImportExport/Import Nesting SQL Database/Setup'. Now one of four things can happen:

1. The connection is already available.2. The connection is not available and the user is prompted to create it using the

standard Windows configuration panel (see creation of ODBC connection).3. The connection is not available and is automatically created using a configuration

file.4. An error occurred.

If the user creates the connection (2), the connection information is written to aconfiguration file that can be subsequently used to create the connection automatically(3) (on other machines). This means that the connection has to be configured once fromwithin the System Management Application on some machine and then, if the importfunction is started from 3D-Contek by some user on another machine, the configurationfile thus created is read and the ODBC connection is created automatically. To modify anexisting DSN, remove the corresponding configuration file in the %ncghelps%\odbc

directory (see Creation of ODBC connection).

Now there is an ODBC connection. Then there is the matter of setting the databasename that contains the nest information and the naming of the parts. The databasename is set using the same panel. The name can contain logistical fields, object number, strings, etc. The user also has to specify by what name a part is known in the nestsystem (probably the same as in the %ncgnorms%\caminfo.ins). This can be specifiedon the same panel by the 'Plate identification' setting. This value can also containlogistical fields, strings, etc.

Now the system knows where the data is located and what connection to use to read it.The last thing to do is specify what data corresponds to NESTIMPORTDATE etc. Inorder to do this, we need a stored procedure that returns the nest information given the

part name as specified by 'Plate identification'. For the case that your nesting system isNestix using Microsoft SQL, this stored procedure is provided as %ncghelps%\part_microsoft.sql. For Sybase and Oracle, the user has to provide the stored procedurehimself in %ncghelps%\part_sybase.sql or %ncghelps%\part_oracle.sql respectively.

The system currently supports SQL database implementations from Microsoft, Sybaseand Oracle.

1.2.15 Reports

To get data ready for production, it is usually necessary to generate reports (lists) of these data. Such reports clearly show the production data, i.e. dimensions, weights, descriptions, positions, identifications, manufacturing processes, and so on. Thesereports can have there own layout and language.

The description for a part should enable the user to quickly identify the place of this partin the ship. This means that the length (expressed as frame number), breadth, andheight should be clearly specified in this description. The orientation of the part and anyrelationships with other parts should also be clear.

The selection is important, only selected construction will be calculated. The previousselection is always the default a new selection must be made if this selection is notup-to-date any more.

Any logistical item can be used to make a selection. The report creation command of theSystem Management application, "CAM"->"Report"->"Create/Edit Report Layout" ,

allows the creation of this selection panel, which is fully compatible with the reportstandard described.

1.2.15.1 Create report

In a report, geometrical and logistical data of a series of parts can be presented clearly. If necessary, these parts can be presented in various layouts. The part selection canalso be changed.

It depends on the layout of a list whether certain identical parts will be grouped andpresented in one line. This will mean that some items in the list will be added and a total

will be presented at the bottom of the page.

The "Report Generator"  panel can be used to specify the selection criteria for a report. If necessary, a report can be created that includes various building sections.

The layout for the report ("part-list" in the above example panel) can be selected with thepull-down menu at the bottom left of the "Report Generator"  panel.

Page 72: CAM Modules Manual

CAM Modules Manual

Version 5.2 05/200767 NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL

Reports are used to present data in an easily understandable form and sorted by aparticular sort key. Reports are mainly important for manufacturing purposes. When areport layout has been created, information from the database can be included in thereport. How to create a report layout is explained in the "Components of the RPT file"section.

The report creation process consists of two phases. In the first phase, the user determines the selection panel to be used for selecting the data. In the second phase, the user chooses the selection criteria and the report layout for displaying the selecteddata in the report.

Selection phaseThe required selection is made with the "Report"->"Create Report"  menu option. Thecriteria selected in the "Choose Selection Criteria"  panel determines how the data willbe selected.

Once the criteria has been selected, the program will display the "Report Generator" selection panel (see first panel). In this panel, the user can make certain choices that willinfluence the content of the final report. How to create a selection panel is described inthe "Creating selection panels" section. Such a selection panel can be used to select theconstruction parts for which the data should be included in the report. By default, onlyinformation about the current building section will be included.

If the selection panel has an option for selecting by section (in the example panel shown

here this can be done with "Blo k"), the current section number will be entered as thedefault value. If a default selection criterion in the layout file is specified, this value will be entered.

If the panel allows selection by date, the current date will be entered as the default value(with "D"  from the pull-down menu).

Selections can be made by entering a combination of range(s) and/or values in the entryboxes. Ranges can be combined and excluded. Ranges can be entered by using the ".." operator as follows: "lowest value (n) .. (n) highest value" (e.g. 100..500). In this the"lowest value" or "highest value" are optional. So "..500" or "100.." is also possible. Allranges and some values can the combined with the "&"  symbol. Ranges and some

values can be excluded with the "!"  symbol.

Here are some examples of selections that can be made with the selection panel:

To create a report in which the items should fall in the range from Part number 0 to Partnumber 500, enter 0..500 in the Part entry box.

To create a report in which the items should fall in the range from Part number 0 to Partnumber 500 with the exception of Part number 300, enter 0..500!300 in the Part entrybox.

To create a report in which the items should fall in the range from Part number 0 to Partnumber 200 and the range from Part number 300 to Part number 500, enter0..200&300..500 in the Part entry box.

Creation phaseThe following buttons can be used in the 'Creation phase'

Part-list

The pull-down menu displaying "part-list" in the example can be used to select a reportlayout. The report layout determines which items will be included in the report and inwhat form.If there is a report layout with the same name as the selection criterion, this will be thedefault report layout. For more information, see the "Components of the RPT file".

Create and View New ReportUse this option to create a new report for the current selection. The information ispresented in the selected report layout.

1.2.15.2 Weight and COG list

The Weight and COG program can be used to calculate the net weight and centre of gravity of each construction part. Note that this net weight is an approximation of theactual net weight, which can only be calculated precisely when the hull server is runningand take care of the actual netto weight. Because of this, the weight given in this list maydeviate from the true weight by several percentage points. The exact weight list can begenerated with “Create Report”  together with a proper layout.

The weights displayed for profiles are nearly correct, with only a small deviation causedby the shape of the end type. The weights of profiles are calculated with the help of theverrekening file, see for more information the System Management Manual"Construction"->"Profiles"->"Profile properties" .

The Weight list program does not have a pre-selection option and can be started withthe "CAM"->"CAM List"->"Weight and centre of gravity list"

Set default area

CAM Modules Manual

Version 5.2 05/200771 NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL

The default area strongly influences the part of the building section that should becalculated. For this reason, it is possible to calculate the weight of a specific part of thesection. The program restricts the default area to all parts (plates and profiles) in the section, withan additional margin of + and - 440 mm around the net dimensions of these parts. Thearea can be adjusted by the user, by entering the specifications for the required

minimum and maximum area in the "Frame" , "Breadth" , and "Height"  entry boxes.

Material typeThe type of material to be used for plates and profiles is automatically specified byNUPAS-CADMATIC Hull when these construction parts are created. However, sometimes the material type remains empty. This may occur when a "project" isconverted from a very old version (older then 4.0). If the type of material appearsunspecified, the material in the material type pull-down menu will be used.

Plate & profileThe Weight and COG list can be created in two ways: either a list that only shows theplates or a list that shows both plate and profile. If the profile is not displayed in the list, the list really presents the weight and centre of gravity of the plate together with theconnected profiles.

Create weight and C.O.G. listThis function create the report according actual settings and a layout.

View Total Ship weightThe Weight and COG program determines the total weight and the position of the centreof gravity for each section. These values are also included in a total weight list for theentire ship. This means that this list will display a total weight for the ship if the weights of all individual sections have been calculated. The "View Total Ship weight"  function can

be used to display this list. Use the options in the "Total weight"  pull-down menu toinstruct the program to calculate only the total weight of the inner construction or "Only shellplates"  to calculate only the total weight of the shell plates.

Total weight identification in Weight and COG listThe text displayed with the weights of the parts can be set by means of the"CAM"->"CAM List/Weight and COG List"->"Total Weight Text" menu option of theSystem Management application.

(Setup &) Print Current ReportWith this functions the report can be printed. See for more information at the print or plotsection.

1.2.15.3 Profile nesting

The profile nesting program generates the profile nesting list in which all profiles are

classified according to pre-defined bar lengths. It also creates a report in which therequired number of bars is given. The program also makes use of various settings todetermine the bar length for each profile type and the thickness of the cutting. The layoutof these lists can be controlled with the "Create/Edit CAM-List Layout"  function in theSystem Management Application.

First of all a selection of profiles must be made. See for more information "Create report".

Default barlistThe profile nesting list option can be used to create a list of profiles that should benested in a bar. The default bar lengths can be set with the "CAM"->"CAM List"->Profile Nesting List"->"Genral"->"Bar List information"  function of theSystem Management application. The "Default barlist"  button can be used to selectfrom this default bar list. It is also possible to modify the bar list in the panel. Thismodified bar list will be used until the "Default barlist"  will be recovered.

The list will be created when the user clicks the "Create nesting list"  button.

Cutting thicknessThe cutting (saw) thickness can be set with the "CAM"->"CAM List"->"Profile Nesting List"->"Thickness of Saw Cutting"  menu option of the System Management Application. This cutting thickness is added to each profile length, so that there will be no

problems with the total length of the bar. Otherwise this cutting (saw) thickness cancourse problems if the bar has many small profiles.

Add

Before the bar list can be changed a profile type has to be chosen (HP) and the pulldown menu under the profile type has to be set to "View Bar input files" . After thischose a list of all bars of that profile type will be presented in the panel. A bar can beselected from this list. This bar will be used as input to "Modification" , "Add"  or "Delete"  from the bar list.

The "Add"  pull-down menu in the Profile nesting panel can be used to add a bar to thelist. This menu also contains a "Change"  and a "Delete"  function. If either the change or the delete function is selected, the current bar list of the selectedprofile will be displayed in the panel. If a profile is selected from this list. It will displays the "Body" , "Thickness" , "Length" ,and "Code"  values. These values can then be modified, after which the modificationswill be added to the list.

How to use the bar listIf the values for "Body"  and/or "Thickness"  are set to 0, the program assumes that thelength and code settings apply to the entire profile type series. The Profile nestingprogram operates on the principle of "first come, first served". See also the examples onthe next page.

HP 180 0 12000 45HP 180 8 10000 44

This means that a bar length of 12000 will be used for HP180x8 also. However, in thefollowing case

HP 180 8 10000 44

HP 180 0 12000 45

a bar length of 10000 will be used for HP180x8, while a bar length of 12000 will be usedfor the other HP profiles with a body size of 180.

Job number The program will always create a nesting of the profiles that are part of a job. Thenumber of job numbers will be present in the pull down menu. A selection must be made

All holes situated inprofiles related to this plate will be presented also in this section of the list. In that case aspecial character '*' will be at front of the hole description. This to recognize these kindof profile attribute holes.

Only piping holesUse this option to determine whether the list should include all holes in the section or only those holes generated by "Plant Modeller" .

With burn holesUse this option to determine whether the list should only contain holes that do not have acutting status yet or all holes irrespective of their status.

Approve the holesWhen this option is selected, the holes will be approved as soon as the hole list isgenerated, so that the status of the holes changes to "approved".

Change status to burnThis option is only available if the "Approve the holes"  option has been selected first. If it is selected, it changes the status of the hole to "cutting" when the list is generated, which means the status of the hole will be both "approved" and "cut".

Plot optionsThe following plot options are possible for changing the plotter settings:

Plot tower Plots the selected parts in a drawing. At first, all parts will be plottedvertically from the top down. If there is no more room in the verticaldirection, the remaining parts will be placed next to the parts alreadydrawn. The scale of the parts depend on the value of the Plotscalefield.

Part plotting This option works the same as "Plot tower" , but leaves larger marginsaround the plotted parts.

Plot to paper sizePlots each of the selected parts on a separate sheet at maximum size.

The user can make a selection from the left list of all the parts who has to be plot. In theright list appear all the parts who are selected. When a part in the right list is selected

and the "view"  function is set the selected part appear on the screen. Otherwise the partwill be deselected.

DirectoryIt is possible to plot parts from another section by changing the directory path.

SortThe sort function can be used to order the list by name or creation date in ascending or descending order.

Papersize All parts will be plot at this paper size.

Plotscale All part will be plot at this plot scale.

Plot preview

This function can be used to get a preview of the plot. This preview can be saved asa 2d drawing. It will be saved in the others section of the "2D–Contek"  application withthe name plotparts{number}. The number will be started from 001.

1.6 Bevels

In Nupas Cadmatic Hull beveling and welding functions are connected close to eachother. Several function and settings has to be made before the user is able to use andextract information from the system. In general the system have functions to addbeveling at plates and profiles. Weld code information can be added manually or to acertain level even automatically . Weld information can be used for a welding report or asinformation on parts and sketches.

Weld codeThis "Weld code"  is important for the system and have a key function to control thebevel information for plate contours and to define the weld type for that side of the profilethat's connected to the plate, see for more information "Weld symbols" .

The bevel information for end types of a profile can be defined by using a special endtype definition or, more general, to use the B+ function. In both cases only the bevel willbe controlled by the system and welding information of these end type's will not bepresent in reports or CAM information.

Differences between plates and profilesOne of the main differences between the bevel information of plates and profiles is thepresentation on the drawings. The representation of the bevel information (this side or other side) on the plate will be always presented in the viewing direction. For profiles thebevel information is always connect to the thickness direction of the profile.

Settings

To use the bevel functions correct settings has to be made. These settings can be set inthe System Management Application and in some cases in separate norms files. It isimportant to make your settings for all the three main items Construction, Presentationand CAM.

ConstructionIn the construction part different kind of settings has to made to set defaults and typesfor creating purpose. These settings can help you to avoid time consuming configure thevalues when creating the bevel.

PresentationPosition and sizes of text and/or symbols can be specified to get the proper customer

presentation definition on drawings.

CAMPosition and sizes of text can be specified to get the proper customer presentationdefinition on parts or sketches special for production. This all together with the correctinterface settings for Nest and Robot data.

1.6.1 Bevels for plates

It is possible to add bevel information to a plate edge or a welded seam. The bevel isstored as an attribute of the plate in the database and has a link to the relation of the

plate edge it belongs to. This has the benefit that if a plate will be modified, the bevel willstick to his relationship. The bevel information is processed during coding in such a way that it appears in theDXF files in a format that is recognized by Nestix or other nest programs. The bevelinformation can also appear as plane text on the part along the plate edge it applies to.In some cases it is useful to add attribute text to plates to indicate bevel information for production, in this case no bevel information will be added in the DXF file only simple textwill be present.

The option for placing bevels is started via "Construction"->"Create"->"Welds"

When starting the bevel creation function, the selection method is set to "conflict" . Thisbecause the system needs to have the coordinates of the selection rectangle. Thismeans that the first selection is important. In most cases there will be no need for further

(de)selection, but sometimes there might be. With this first panel the user can explicitlyspecify what he needs to (de)select. Minimum one plate, seam or hole has to beselected. More that two items is not allowed. An error massage will appear if theselection is in conflict with this rules.

The functions "Plates in plan view" , "Plate in section" , "Seam"  and "Holes"  can beused to select only for this items. This is helpful if the drawing is very crowded.

Number of relations

If, during the placement of a bevel, the user selects two plates in plan view that have acontour in common that is described by several relations. Then it is possible to add abevel attribute to each of these relations simultaneously (see the illustration below).

The common segment of the plate contours is described by 4 relations for plate 2 (in thiscase 2 absolute values and 2 lines) and by 1 relation for plate 1 (this because plate 1 isrelated to plate 2 with a full relation type). After the user has selected these plates, theprogram will display the panel shown above to ask the user what should be done. If theuser selects "All common relations" , 5 bevels will be placed (in this example). If theuser opts for "Selected relations" , the program will add only 2 bevels on the firstspecific area.

GeneralThe "Weld symbols"  panel appears after the plate edge or a welded seam is selected. Most of the bevel information is filled in automatically. This according to the given rulesspecified in the System Management Application.

WeldcodeThe "Weldcode" pull downs can be used to set the type of connection and weld method. The bevel type "V+ ; V+"  is displayed in the frozen input box as well. This according tothe given rules specified in the System Management Application. This bevel type willchange to the correct type if the values "Angle" , "Bevel"  and "Nose"  area changedmanually. This can cause a conflict with the selected "Bevel type"  specified in the thirdpull down menu of the "Weldcode".

One or two plates As mentioned above, this option can be used to place bevels on one plate edge or ontwo edges at once. In the last case both input blocks are enabled "Plate 1"  & "Plate 2" ,otherwise only the first is "Plate 1" will be enabled. One can enable or disable theplacement of bevels by checking the "Plate 1"  or "Plate 2"  toggle.

Whole relation

The possibility exists that the edges to be welded together are shorter than the relationthat describe the edges. In this case the user can choose to place the bevel along theentire relation by checking the "Whole relation"  toggle, otherwise the bevel is placed onthe part of the relation that the two plates have in common.

Angle, Bevel and NoseThe "Angle" , "Bevel"  and "Nose"  can be defined by either using the pull down menusor the input boxes. The input box has a higher priority then the pull down menu.

Angle absolute/relativeThe radio button for the angle determines how the angles are interpreted. If set to"Angle is absolute" (40/35 See figure below), the angles are measured with respectto the plate's normal otherwise the angles describe the actual opening of the bevel"Angle is relative" (80/70 See figure below). In the figure below the angle of 80

degrees is the "Upper angle" , the angle of 70 degrees is the "lower angle" . The heightof 2 mm is the bevel height, the height of 3 mm is the nose height.

OpeningWhen an opening is specified. The coding process will interpret this as a negative

overlength. By default, the opening will be divided evenly between the two plates, but the

user can change this with the button. This will open a "Divide opening"  panel inwhich the proportion can be arranged.

Taper

The "Taper"  pull down menu will only be enabled if two plates are selected that lie in thesame plane and have different thicknesses. The value of the "Taper"  is the proportion of the Delta X/Delta Y. "Taper"  4 is used at the first figure. "Taper"  2 is used at the secondone. See for more information “Reduction/taper description” .

Throat

The throat height for welding can be set by using the pull down menu or typing it in theinput box next to the pull down menu.

JoinThe angles, bevels and nose heights of "Plate 1"  and "Plate 2"  can be joined. If one of the mentioned items has been joint to each other the values of this item will be changesalways together for plate 1 and plate 2. The joining can be dis- or enabled by checkingthe toggles.

Preview

A preview like the above figure of the result can be shown by pressing the large button inthe middle. This preview can be saved with the "Save detail"  button. The detail will besaved as a 2D drawing in the other section.

MethodInstead of using the "Method number"  of the second pull down menu of the"Weldcode" , a textual method pull down menu can be used to get the same result. These two pull down menus are connected to each other. The reason of this extra pulldown menu is to give a more clear description then an unclear number. See for moreinformation the variable "Func. descr"  in the System Management Application function"Presentation"->"Weld symbols"->"Welding codes, second part".

DetailIt is not always possible or desired to display the detail information of the bevel on thedrawing. For this reason a 2D detail indicator circle with a text can be put on the drawing. The text can be used to connect the detail indicator to a special detail drawing. Thisdetail drawing can be prepared with the "Save detail"  function see the preview sectionabove. It can give confusions if this indicator will be used together with the detailpresentation functions.

In this version this 2D detail indicator will not be updated after changing the bevelattribute or will not removed automatically when removing the bevel attribute.

Modifying bevelsBevel information can be changed with the function"Construction"->"Change"->"Welds"->"Change bevels".  After selecting one of thebevel symbols (attributes) on the drawing the same panel used with creation will beappear. The information finely used by creation will used as starting values. If one of thebevels of two connecting plate edges is selected for modification, the other one will beselected automatically.

Recalculating bevelsNormally, the bevel is recalculated automatically if the plate edge on which it is located ismodified. It is also possible to recalculate it manually by selecting it with the"Recalculate bevels"  function. The bevel symbols (attributes) has to be selected beforethis attributes will be recalculated.

1.6.2 Bevels for profiles

With the function "Construction"->"Change"->"Profiles"->"Green"  or "Construction"->"Change"->"Face plates/Flange"->"Green"  you are able to add or remove "extra length"  and bevel information to end types of profiles. The dimensionfunctions can be used to present these information on the drawing.

With the "Profiles selection"  function several end types of profile has to be selected inplan view or in view direction before bevel and/or extra length can be added to this endtypes. The selection panel has normal functionality.

After this selection process a choice can be made which "bevel type"  or "extra length" will be used for the selected end types.

1.6.3 Welding

Welding information can be added to profiles, brackets and plates. This information canbe used for a welding report. Depending on the construction type, weld information canbe added to this construction. This information, together with thickness, material type or default settings are ingredients to define the welding information in the report. Fivespecial weld columns and the logistical f ield Weldcode can be used to present thisinformation on a nice report. See example below:

On this report welding code, weld connection, bevel code, welding method, throat heightand welding length are presented. In some cases more than one line is connected to one

Page 101: CAM Modules Manual

plate, this because of the fact that the welding code is connected to the bevel attributetype of the plate. A brackets or a profile always has only one line in the report.

Before this report can be made, a weld code and throat height must be added to theconstruction database. In some cases this can be done automatically. In other cases thisinformation is present or can be defined in the bevel function. The next chapter explain

how to add this information for each construction type.

First of all the logistical field Weldcode must be present in the database. This field is usedfor the definition of the welding method, welding connection and bevel code.

Weld information for profiles. The Weldcode can be added manually with the normal functions,"Logistics"->"logistical data"  or "Cam->Report->action on report" . It is also possibleto add the weldcode automatically with the "Construction"->"Create"->"ShrinkagesManager" option. Therefore you need to use the Weld_code='HN.10.1' variable into the

%ncgnorms%\shrinkage\profile.cmd file. See Shrinkage Manager  for more information. The throat height is calculated automatically according to the definition in the%ncgnorms%\weld\settings.dat. The profile length will be used as default weld length.

Weld information for brackets. The weld code BrWeldCode, weld throat BrWeldThroat and weld length BrWeldLength mustbe specified in the bracket{type}.cmd . This has to be done in label 5. Commoninformation can be used to specify these three values. Like material type, length andheight definitions, hp[x], hpgap, mp[x] etc.

Weld information for plates. With the function to create or change bevels the weld code, weld method and throatheight can be defined. The weld method is related to the weld code. The weld length will

be automatically calculated from start point to end point of the bevel attribute.

CAM Modules Manual

Version 5.2 05/200797 NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL

After this information is present in the construction database it can be used to generatethe report. The weld code determines three of the five columns of the welding report:

Weld code DescriptionXx.xx.x Weld connectionxx.XX.x Weld method

xx.xx.X Bevel code

With the "Cam"->"Report"->"Create/Edit Report LayOut"->"Detail"-">Report Layout Details"   in the System Management Application it is possible to define the layout of theweld list one or some of the six field can chosen. The five special welding fields arepresent in the Derived data fields list see example below:

Each column can be converted to a more clear value or description. In this way theinformation is clear for the end user. See the report example presented earlier and the"Cam"->"Report"->"Conversion settings"  of the weldmethod below.

The throat height definition for profiles:To standardize the weld throat height for the profiles several files in the %ncgnorms%\weld

directory can be define. The name of this file is connected to the Weldcode, for example%ncgnorms%\weld\weld_HN221.dat. The name HN221 is the weldcode from the profilewithout the dots HN.22.1. If the file related to the weldcode of the profile isn't present thedefault %ncgnorms%\settings.dat file is used for this purpose. Below the layout of the%ncgnorms%\weld\settings.dat file is explained. It has the same layout as the%ncgnorms%\weld\weld_HN221.dat file:

Two factors determine the throat height. These are the plate thickness of the connectingplate and the profile type. Not all the dimensions of the profile need to be specified. Theycan be replaced by a *. The thickness is required. For each profile type a line can beadded to this file, with several ranges of plate thicknesses followed by the desired throatheight. For example:

BP200X9 1-50 5 50-100 5FB100X12.5 1-50 3.4 50-100 5FB100X19 1-50 5 50-100 5FB150X14 1-50 5 50-100 5FB150X19 1-50 5 50-100 5FB150X25 1-50 5 50-100 5FB*25 1-50 5 50-100 5FC*16 1-50 5 50-100 5FC*19 1-50 5 50-100 5FC*16 1-50 5 50-100 5FC*25 1-50 5 50-100 5FC*31.5 1-50 5 50-100 5FC*31.5 1-50 5 50-100 5

Note that the lines may not be longer than 160 character.

CAM Modules Manual

Version 5.2 05/200799 NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL

When the material type is important to define the throat height, it is allowed to add thismaterial types as a prefix for the profile type. In this case more than one line for eachprofile type is allowed.

ALMFB*25 1-50 5 50-100 5

AH35FB*25 1-50 5 50-100 5

If the profile type is not present in the file, the throat height will be set to zero.

The calculation of the length of the welding:The welding length presented in the report is determined by the following data:

The default weld length (single sided).

The welding method.

The correction factor.

The first two were explained earlier. The correction factor must be defined in the%ncgnorms%\weld\main2.dat file. This can be done in the System Management Application option "Presentation"->"weld symbols"->"Welding codes, second part" . A factor for each weld method can by defined. The presented length in the report is thedefault weld length (single sided) multiplied by this factor. For example, if for a certainweld method only half of the actual length is welded, set the factor to 0.5.

No welding information is present for lugs and profile endings connected to other items.

Check CAM FilesUse this button to start the checking process. When the program has finished checking,it will activate the "View Logfile", "Copy modified file", and "Copy Cam file" buttons anddisplay the information requested with the checked "Detail options" radio button.

Output directoriesThe output directories for the copy actions can be specified in these entry fields. Thedefault values displayed in these fields are controlled by several lines in the%ncgnorms%\cam.conf file. The first word in these lines is "checkcampathdxf" (for thedxf files created during coding), "checkcampathrobot" (for the created robot files),"checkcampathprofs" (for the profile sketch models), "checkcampathshell" (for the shell

plate files), and "checkcampathlist" (for the lists and reports) respectively. An example of such a line is c:\teken\camoutput object section "dxf", where appropriate values shouldbe substituted for "object" and "section". Thus, in the example given above: if the objectnumber is 500 and the section number 234, the output directory will bec:\teken\camoutput\500\234\dxf\.These lines should be set in the System Management application.

Copy CAM filesUse this button to copy up-to-date files to the specified directories. This button will bedimmed until the "Check CAM files" button has been clicked. Once this button has beenclicked, the "Check Overviews" and "Copy Overviews" radio buttons will become activeand the copy overviews will be displayed.

When the setting "C AM"->"C h e k C AM Data"->"C opy out of d ate l i ts /reports "   in theSystem Management application is enabled lists and reports to be copied will also becopied when they are not up-to-date.

Copy modified filesUse this button to copy only those files that have been modified. To check this, the program will examine the dates of the files in the output directories. Thus, if files have been deleted from the output directories after a copy action, theup-to-date files will be recopied. This button will be dimmed until the "Check CAM files" button has been clicked. Oncethis button has been clicked, the "Check Overviews" and "Copy Overviews" radio buttonswill become active and the copy overviews will be displayed.

[LISTS/REPORTS]N.o. Lists/reports checked :4 4 8N.o. Lists/reports missing :2 1 3N.o. Lists/reports out of date :0 3 3

This overview starts with a listing for each section of the number of parts,plates/brackets, shell frames, profiles, and shell plates that have been checked. For each file type, the number of parts coded or the number of files created is displayed, together with the number of parts for which the names of the CAM files have beenchanged because of a modification of a logistical item included in the file name. Alsoshown are the number of missing CAM files and the number of out-of-date files as aresult of a modification of a logistical item not included in the file name after the creationof the file.

For a list or report, the program will only check whether the file in question exists andwhether the creation date is more recent than the last logistical or geometricmodification. The following list for dxf files is an example of a detail overview:

"Construction"->"Change"->"Welds"->"Modify Overlength"

"Construction"->"Change"->"Welds"->"Green I.W.O. Soft seam"

A plate over length will be related to a plate contour relation. For this reason it will haveeffect to the total selected relation, in some cases this relation can be a soft seam. Please read also the plate bevel function because in this function a over length can begiven together with the bevel en welding types.

Plate Over length

After selection this function one or more plates has to be selected from thepresent drawing. This by using the normal selection tools. After this each plate relationthat have no over length will be permanent highlighted in purple colour and a new panel

will be appear to select one or more single plate relations.

For this the purple lines has to be selected, again by using the normal selection tools. Inthis way several contour relations can be selected and the extra length can be given tothese relation by filling the distance of the extra length and use the "Apply"  button to

except this. After this "Apply"  a next selection can be chosen. By filling an other distance these relation getting an different extra length then the first selected relations. Inbold cases only by pressing the "OK"  button all these extra length information will beadded to the previous selected plates. The "Abort"  button will cancel the entire actionand nothing will be happening.

After selection this function one or more over length text items has to beselected from the present drawing. This by using the normal selection tools. After this anew panel will be appear to enter the new over length value.

This value will be used to change all selected over length items. The function has bestarted again if other over length items has to be changed.

Green I.W.O. Soft seam

After selection this function one or more positions has to be defined on theright side of each soft seam. Bold sides has to be selected if the over length has to be onbold sides of the seam. Several soft seam can be selected in one action. Use the"Create"  button to finish the function.

The function has be started again if other over length items has to be created with other values.

Delete over length

The over length text has to be deleted with the normal delete function. The generalselection criteria "Overlength" in the pull down menu can help you to select only over length items.

1.10 Knuckle

Two parts can be connected with a knuckle attribute by the use of function"Construction"->"Change"->"Plates"->"Knuckle attribute" . The program will ask toselect two parts. These parts will define the "Inner radius"  and mould opening "Die

opening" . These values will be presented in a panel together with the "Knuckle angle"

and "Plate thickness", see example below.

Version 5.2 05/2007107 NUPAS-CADMATIC HULL

If the "Die opening"  will be change manually the corresponding "Inner radius"  will becalculated according the knuckle definitions. See the System Management application.

After pressing at the "OK"  button the knuckle attribute will be added to both plates. Thiswill be visible in "cross-section" and "plane view". In "cross section" with a blue cross andin "plane view" with a small blue line with a length of 100mm.

One of the part number attributes will be removed automatically. This will be theone with no part number information. If both parts have part number attributes withproper part number information it will chose to remove the eldest.

One part is allowed to have more then one knuckle attribute and a series of platescan be connected by several knuckle attributes. Keep in meant that it has to bepossible to bend every knuckle. Making a box with in every corner a knuckleattribute is not allowed.

1.11 Attribute TextIn some cases text is requested on production parts. This text can be useful to inform

production people. This text can be added by using the function and change thetext type to "Att Text" .

1.12 RTF Layout

For reports and a number of lists it is possible to use also other output formats. These

fomats are the RTF format (Ruch Text Format), used a.o. by MS-Word, and the CVSformat (Comma Seperated Value), used a.o. by MS-Excel.

The RTF format used is compatible with MS-Word.

The following options now have the possibility to indicate if extra output in RTF or CSVformat should be created.

CAM->Report->Create report

CAM->CAM All

CAM->CAM lists->Profile nestings

CAM->CAM lists->Hole list

The RTF format is supported for the following reports/lists :

- Reports, profile lists, shellframe bending list, profile nestings and hole lists.

The CSV format is supported for the following reports/lists :

- Reports, profile lists and hole lists.

If extra output has to be created, the files are created in the current directory with thesame name as the report or list with the extension .rtf or .csv.

With the CSV format the header and footer texts are not written, with reports the indexlines are written.

When creating a report or list in RTF format first a check is done to see if for this reportor list a RTF configuration is present. This configuration contains settings like paper size, margins and font settings and can be created with the System Management Application. If a configuration exists this one is used. If not a check is done to see if a generalconfiguration exists. If also this general configuration does not exist a defaultconfiguration is used.

Configurations for RTF output can be created in the System Management Application.

Configurations for RTF output can be created in the System Management Applicationwith the options:

"CAM"->"Report"->"RTF layout" "CAM"->"CAM-list"->"Profile list"->"RTF layout" "CAM"->"CAM-list"->"Profile Nesting list"->"RTF layout" "CAM"->"CAM-list"->"Shellframe bending list"->"RTF layout" "CAM"->"CAM-list"->"Hole list"->"RTF layout"

With all these options a similar panel is opened where the only difference is the list with

defined report or list layouts at the left side of the panel.

The list at the left side of the panel contains the names of the report, list layout files for which configurations can be created. With <default> the general configuration for reportsor lists is created.

For every configuration the following parameters can be set:

Paper size Supported are A4 portrait, A4 landscape and A3 landscapeMargin header The margin between the top of the page and the header.Margins body Margins for left, right, top and bottom.Margin footer The margin between the bottom of the page and the footer.Font properties for the index line, body and footer of the report ( Font, general)Font properties for the header of the report ( Font, header)

At this time Arial, Courier New and Times New Roman are supported.

The field "File"  indicates the name of the configuration file.

The "Set defaults"  button resets the settings to the default values.

With the "Save configuration"  button the settings are saved in the configuration file.
