Youth & Children

Youth Ministry As we plan for Fall, the youth ministry team finds a need for: • Wednesday Feast leader and co-leader for

grades 6-7. • Sunday morning leader and co-leader for 6-7, 8-

9 & high school grades 10-12. • Two First Friday leaders to help us organize and

run our fun MS event once per month. • Small group leaders for Confirmation. • “I will bring a dish” parents for our events. We

would love to have a long list of parents that can provide one dish for our special teen events. The hope is that the list is long enough that we only have to ask each person on the list every third or fourth event. This is an important part of ministry as it is not a teen party without food!

If you would like to get involved in youth ministry, please let us know! You can check the box on your welcome insert this morning or contact Pastor Ken or Deborah Robitaille. Contact info in the staff list.

Summer Updates We are excited to report that our teens in leadership training are back from their summer trips! Chelsea Kirkland attended a week of Leadership Training at Camp Michi-Lu-Ca. Joel Merriman, who works as one of our Confirmation Small Group Leaders spent 3 weeks at Trinity Lutheran Seminary for Summer Seminary Sampler. If you are interested in learning more about our leadership training process, contact Deborah Robitaille. We are putting a video together for the congregation to show you everything that’s been happening in Youth Ministry this summer. Stay tuned for that!

Upcoming Dates • September 11, Rally Day & Annual Church

Picnic at the Clarkston Campus • Sunday, September 18, Confirmation

Orientation for all confirmation students & parents.

• Saturday, October 15, Fall Harvest Fest at our White Lake Campus

White Lake Community Garden    White Lake Community Garden Volunteers – pat yourselves on the back! Your weeding, harvesting, and hard work have yielded 550 pounds of fresh produce for Open Door. More raised beds are in, thanks to Ben P and family, Ben from St. Pat’s, Fred T., and Jeff T, who built and filled the beds this weekend. Thank you also to Colleen and Ron for installing more chicken wire and planting the late harvest seeds. Rowena and Beth are continuing to research ways to extend the growing season and improve the productivity of the plants in the ground. Thank you to each of you who weed, harvest, and deliver each week for our neighbors who receive food from Open Door. You are making a difference and proving we are BETTER TOGETHER! Please join us for harvesting on Monday and Thursday nights from around 6-8. Colleen Thompson, 248-310-5564
