Slide 2 By Madeline Guardala, Kailey Tuynman and Bianca Aiello FIJI Slide 3 GEOGRAPHY Fijis island belongs to the Oceania group of islands in the south pacific. Fijis total land area is 18,270sq.Km Fiji is made of 332 islands but only 110 are inhabited and there is only 10.95% of Fijis land that can be farmed on. Fijis natural recourses are: timber, gold, copper, fish, offshore oil, hydro powder, bauxite coal, iron ore, tin, silver, uranium, nickel tungsten, rear earth elements, mineral sand, lead, zinc, diamonds, natural gas and petroleum. There are lots of natural resources that get used in Fiji. Slide 4 CLIMATE AND WEATHER Fijis climate is very warm and tropical all year round even winter months from May to August. Average Temperature in summer is 30C and in winter the temperature gets up to 28C to maybe 30 but dont forget the humidity. The humidity right now is 100% and the temperature is now 25C and raining but it fills like 38C and this was on the 21 st of February 2013 Slide 5 MARINE ENVIROMENT Fiji is known to have the third largest reef in the whole world and thousands of different exotic marine species. Lots of travellers go on boat trips to the reefs and dive in the warm enjoyable crystal clear water. They take take lots of amazing photos and you can see how clean the waters are, you cant see one peace of rubbish and this is because they are grateful of what such a lovely marine environment they have got and I dont think they will appreciate if you start polluting there magnificent waters but when the cyclones hit Fiji their waters get populated from all the things that have broken and flown away. Slide 6 MAJOR CITIES in Fiji there five major cities and they are; Suva. Population of 77,366 Lautoka. Population of 52,500 Nadi. Population of 42,284 Lambassa. Population od 24,187 And ba. Population of 15,000 Fijis main island is Viti Levu and the main city is Suva. Suva is also the largest city in Fiji. Slide 7 FLORA In Fiji there is about 113 different kinds of unique flora. The beachers of Fiji are covered by amazing pine trees, such as silver, fishtail, fantail, umbrella and the very useful coconut tree. The coconut tree has the strength to survive in salt water beaches. The pine trees do make some good things like coconut oil which is used to make soap and margarine. Many other beaches have 30-foot vines and purple and pink trumpet shaped flowers can also live in the salt water. Fijis native flowers are jasmines, star shaped flowers, pinecone ginger, hart shaped foliage, 200 know species of orchids. Slide 8 FAUNA People who visit Fiji between July to October have the opportunity to see lots of amazing Fijian animals such as species of dolphins, turtles, hump back whales, amazing varieties of soft and hard corals, 162 different species of birds including owls and hawks, butterflies, great tropical fish, and kinds of sea critters. Fauna is made up of native animals like bats, skinks, iguanas the most command native animals that are seen are snakes, lizards and geckos.
