CALL FOR ABSTRACTS The topic of the seminar will be discussed through invited and contributed papers. Accepted papers will be considered for oral or poster presentation. Abstract Submission: (i) Abstracts must be submitted electronically via Email: [email protected] (ii) Abstracts should be data oriented relecting the major indings of the paper. (iii) All abstracts will be reviewed by panel of experts and will be selected either for oral or poster presentation. (iv) At least one author should register by paying the required registration fee. Only registered participants will be allowed to attend the Conference. (v) Both abstracts of oral and poster presentations will appear in the book of abstracts at the time of Conference. Guidelines for Abstracts: Any author can send more than one abstract individually / jointly. Abstracts must all be submitted in English. The number of abstracts per presenting author is limited to one in each theme. The abstract(s) should not have more than 400 words and should be sent as email attachment to: [email protected] The following information may kindly be noted while preparing the abstract: (i) The title of the paper centered aligned (Font Size- 14, Style- Times New Roman Bold). (ii) Name of the author(s) centered in bold letters (Font Size- 12, Style- Times New Roman Italic). (iii) The author(s) should clearly mention their name, afiliation, contact number and e-mail. The name of the corresponding and presenting authors should be speciically mentioned (Font Size- 12, Style- Times New Roman Normal). (iv) Keywords (3-5), avoiding duplication with the title. FULL PAPER Full paper will be published from selected abstracts. Regarding selected abstracts, authors will be informed later. INVITATION

Gender equality is intrinsically linked to sustainabledevelopmentandisvitaltotherealizationofhumanrightsforall.Equalitybetweenmenandwomenexistswhenbothsexesareabletoshareequallyinthedistributionofpowerand in�luence; have equal opportunities for �inancialindependence through work or through setting upbusinesses; enjoy equal access to education and theopportunity todeveloppersonalambitions, interestsandtalents;shareresponsibilityforthehomeandchildrenandarecompletelyfreefromcoercion,intimidationandgender-basedviolencebothatworkandathome.Genderequityistheprocessofbeingfairtowomenandmen.Wheregenderinequalityexists,itisgenerallywomenwhoareexcludedordisadvantagedinrelationtodecision-makingandaccesstoeconomicandsocialresources.Thereforeacriticalaspectofpromotinggenderequalityistheempowermentofwomen,with a focus on identifying and redressing powerimbalancesandgivingwomenmoreautonomytomanagetheir own lives. Achieving gender equality requireswomen'sempowermenttoensurethatdecision-makingatprivate andpublic levels, and access to resources are nolongerweightedinmen'sfavour,sothatbothwomenandmencan fullyparticipateasequalpartners inproductiveandreproductivelife.

The national seminar is designed as a mutual learningsituation, where participants can share experience andideasrelatedtothethemesoftheseminar.Theseminarwillbe an ideal platform for dissemination of knowledge,exchangeofbestpractices,group-work,theoreticalinputs,createawarenessandencourageresearchinvariousissuespertainingtoGenderequalities.

ABOUTTHESEMINARVENUE

BasantiDeviCollege, named afterBasantiDevi,was the�irstGovernmentsponsoredcollegeforwomeninKolkata,founded by the Government of West Bengal in 1959. Aneminent freedom �ighter, Basanti Devi, wife of SriChittaranjanDas,wasthe�irstIndianladytobeimprisonedunderBritishRuleforherinvolvementintheIndianfreedomstruggle.

Locatedatthejunctionoftheurbanandruralconglomerate,thispremiercollegecaterstotheneedsofgirlstudentsfromboth these areas. A large group of them are also frombackward classes,minority communities and from below

povertyline.Thecollegeoffersscopeforhighereducationforwomenwithspecialneeds.

BasantiDeviCollegeisaf�iliatedtoUniversityofCalcutta.Along with the Calcutta University stipulated academiccurriculum, the college also offers scope for theempowermentofgirlstudentsbyhelpingthemtodeveloptheirself-helpskills,self-relianceandindependence.

Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) is the capital of India'sWestBengal state. Founded as anEast India Company tradingpost, it was India's capital under the British Raj from1773–1911. Today it's known for its grand colonialarchitecture,artgalleriesandculturalfestivals.
