INTRODUCTION

Woman is the companion of man, gifted with equal rights, mental abilities. She has the right of freedom and liberty as that of her male counterpart. Then why in today’s world she doesn’t feel safe and secure?

• Crimes against women are there in our society from the starting but remain unheard due to : • Unawareness • Social Stigma • Lack of Media But now the voices of the victims can be heard loud and clear.

• Installation of hidden and closed circuit cameras in public places.

• Avoiding going to lonely places at night.

• Encourage women oriented shows like “AAP KI KACHEHRI ”.

• Appointment of more female officers.

• Self-defence Techniques (like Marshal Arts).

SAFETY AT WORK

• Stay calm and try your best efforts to escape from the point.

• Self realization of part of men.

• Full co-operation and assistance from the police.

• Net-working from NGO’s and the community neighborhood groups.

• Legal assistance from the commission through legal aid centers.

• More education needs to be implemented to start reconstructing dominate cultural roles.

• More supervised half way homes for abusers need to be established. If the abuser is able to keep their job, they will still have the opportunity to provide for their families.

• Empowering women is the number one way to resolve the problem.

• Educating the society as a whole comes in a close second.

• Providing victims with a variety of different services to rehabilitate. Ex: legal assistance, transitional housing and supervised visitations.

• Allowing more involvement of the community and authorities. Violence against woman is a macro sociological issue.
